Exactly. It's as I posted yesterday; they welcomed comments and all the related info they could possibly get.. to make sure that this tyranny was as comprehensive as possible. They didn't want to leave any "loop holes" where personal liberty could leak through. They intended from the start to destroy the industry, regardless of what any of us "little people" had to say. That should be obvious to all, at this point.
For those of us that...

--Were familiar with the proposed deeming before the comment period
--Participated in the comment period
--See the new rules after reaction to the comment period

It is well beyond what can be described as PAINFULLY obvious.

But really, what could we do?
Should we not have commented at all?

This is no way to run a country.

Let's hope you are right sir!
He is.....as I said above, nicotine would have to be added to the controlled substance list, along with those things we can't mention here, in order for them to be able to go after personal use. Anything you have now, you are fine with, anything you can personally make, you are fine with..but buying stuff will become a whole lot harder.

In my sick, twisted mind, this is how it probably went down...

Big Pharma said stop those damn electronic cigarettes. They enlisted their minions (ALA, CTFK, AHA, ACS, ALF, etc.) to pester the FDA and start a movement to demonize electronic cigarettes. After a few years Big Government started noticing they were losing money. Everyone sat down to figure out what they were gonna do. Big tobacco was invited to the table, and told that the plan was to destroy the effective products, and hand the crumbs that were left over to them.

The result is what you see now.
Big tobacco will offer closed-system tamper-proof useless cigalikes.

The end.
Sounds about right, but it doesn't really matter because if this didn't occur exactly the way you describe, the end result is 100% consistent with your scenario. This didn't come down on us just because of sheer incompetence.

Awhile back I spent an entire weekend visiting about 20 vape shops in my area.

I gave them CASAA cards to hand out.
I brought a CASAA vendor display case to show them.

I was appalled at how many did not know about the FDA deeming.
I was far more appalled at how many did not care...

... The vendors are the ones that needed to spearhead this entire effort.
They did not do so, period, end of story.

Maybe now they will.

I hit a couple of local shops today to get the skivvy from their perspective. Much to my chagrin, the guys on the ground (store reps) had no idea what the deeming was- one had a vague notion that taxes were going to increase on eliquid or something sometime soon. When I mentioned the (at least, I guess the real number is somewhat ambiguous) 330k application fees I got blank stares. I hope this isn't symptomatic of the industry as a whole, or we are seriously doomed.

Also in regards to all of the comments to the tune of, 'how can the government think they can legislate what I do with my body', my perspective is that this has been increasingly the case for some time, most recently culminating with Obamacare, which has made it a *fineable offense* to choose not to have health insurance in a country where medical errors are now the third leading cause of death.

Our constitutional republic is fast becoming a totalitarian police state, and it is really sad.

[removed] I think they just need to be shown that vaping is NOT tobacco consumption AT ALL that's the main falsehood and what should be challenged at every point! Tobacco is a plant, which is consumed by smoking, chewing, dip, or snuff. Ejuice is a liquid!! I mean sheesh it's simple. Yea, ejuice can contain nicotine, but many people vape just for habit, with 0% nicotine. I have to believe that once people recognize this, they'll see how stupid the anti-vaping stuff is I mean come on.

All that being said, nobody should be surprised, I wasn't surprised. This was going to happen after Obama signed the Tobacco Legislation in 2009. It was just a matter of time and a question of when. Now it's happened. I live in Ky, the highest cigarette smoking rates in the nation. I'm still a smoker, and many here don't even know what vaping is, tons of people still smoke here. I can tell you that from what I've heard, the tobacco industry is absolutely thrilled because they know more people are going to start smoking cigarettes again and they are going to capitalize on this if the restrictions stand. I hope they won't though. People trying to educate others about vaping should break it down...vape is water vapor, NOT smoke. Point blank. No tar. Doctors in the UK have approved vaping as a method to stop cigarette smoking. I'm all for personal freedoms on most issues, and I'd be ok with even banning vaping equipment to those under 18. But requiring FDA approval on all juice? That's blatant right there, they're simply trying to homogenize. It's all about money and control. The two political parties are completely broken, the system is broken, people don't care anymore, and what you get as a result are bureaucrats and faceless lobbyists controlling everything.

And whether we get Clinton or Trump, it doesn't matter, because both are corporate sellout stooges. End rant.

Are congressmen are genuineness / master manipulators

I don't know why you'd expect anything different from a hard left statist like Mikulski.

I'd be more interested to hear responses from conservative Senators. McCain and Flake aren't that conservative, but they're not "progressive" whackjobs, either. I'll write em this weekend, and post the responses here.

I emailed Everybody :D

Can't wait for a CANNED response from the White House - Going to Frame that one, ......on a DART BOARD.:grr:

Well I can tell you too that being from a tobacco state, big tobacco has been majorly fed up with ecigs for a long time. The congresspeople who are lobbied by the tobacco industry have their feet to the fire, the tobacco companies will probably hope to see huge increases in cigarette sales if vaping is curtailed, and in turn reward their policitians from the southern tobacco states. And the other congresspeople are just motivated and supported by big pharma. So big pharma and big tobacco are on the same sides for different reasons. Not surprised at all. Expect to see huge increases in cigarette sales.

As my link above says - publication in the Federal Registry on May 10. and from the faq, "publishing the final rule in the Federal Register to become effective."

So No Congressional Review?

Not say'n that you are Not Correct. But this is Kinda Important. Would like to get some Confirmation on this.

I've have thought this about personal stockpiles of nicotine solution for quite some time. It very well could become contraband down the road...

The suppliers are well known, but if you get a form letter in the mail telling you to turn in all your nic, just tell them you threw it out.

If you are looking for some good nicotine, look in my signature below. Make sure to order ARMOR v2. It comes in a glass bottle and is sealed with Argon gas, and on ECF was rated least expensive, best color, best taste.

Um... Historically speaking, it's the other way around.

The FDA does not care about "public health". How the hell could a bloated institution like that "care" anyway, they don't know you personally. Let's be real.
The FDA is now a political organization. They simply do not care about your health, or whether you die from smoking when you could have extended your life by converting to vapor products. Pressure was applied to ban vapor products, so they did.

It is sad, really.

I posted earlier about people dying during endoscopic procedures. Just in the past few days, several have died (DIED!) here in the Los Angeles area. Apparently the devices cannot be properly sanitized.

There is no theory about potential health impacts here. People are dying from a routine medical procedure using an FDA-approved device.

So, what's the FDA doing? Well, their response in an article I read: "We are keeping an eye on the situation."

What? Who is accountable at the FDA for approving this device? Why are they still in use? These are rhetorical question, because in a government bureaucracy, nobody is accountable. People were paid, and devices were approved. People die as a result. Shrug.

Like I said, maybe they're reviewing it now or before May 10th. But I agree, it would be nice to hear from CASAA.
