The December 31 deadline was for companies to register with the FDA as a "tobacco entity". I would imagine that there are still a ton of shops out there that are totally oblivious to what's going on. The extension is most likely geared to appear "benevolent" while they do more sleuthing to obtain a more complete list of shops they'll put the smack down on once the deadline expires.

I wonder if it's because the FDA has gotten very few product registrations, yet there are plenty of vendors still open, and the level of non-compliance exceeds their ability to enforce in any meaningful manner? So by issuing an extension, they look less impotent? I know of at least one shop that's taken the civil-disobedience attitude of: I will not comply, and I will stay open until men with guns, court orders, and padlocks close me down by force.

Then there's also the fact that the FDA is about to be under new management, and the new boss promised to reduce excessive regulatory burdens.

I'm going with some combination of these three.

When there's a vote and an action, there's never a sole reason shared by all voters to enact any action taken.

There are a couple of threads on that 'other' forum discussing how many vendors have
sent in sku's totaling 1000's of items per vendor and do not seem to be getting any response
from the FDA.(other than they are working on it)
Evidently at least some vendors are attempting to comply.

Mike

I wonder how many Companies sent in Registrations that were Not what the FDA felt was 100% Compliant?

If a Company has never dealt with someone like the FDA, which would be about Everyone, I'm sure they got a Rude Awakening of just how Complex and Convoluted something like this Registration was.

And makes doing your Companies Tax Fillings look like a Walk in the Park.

Johnson, Hunter Write Vice President-elect Pence to Roll Back E-Cigarette Regulations

“We are hopeful that through both executive and legislative action, burdensome regulations imposed by the Obama administration will be re-examined and undone,” the lawmakers wrote. “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s deeming regulation of e-cigarettes is an example of a burdensome rule that could eliminate an entire emerging industry. The FDA’s rule threatens to crush the e-cigarette industry and potentially hurt the public’s health by making it harder for consumers to access products that serve as an alternative to smoking.”

I honestly believe we are going to see the Deeming regs relaxed, heavily modified, or eliminated with new management. Bottom line is I believe the vape industry and vapers alike will be allowed to function and enjoy vaping for the foreseeable future. These people moving into power are hostile toward regulations. Senator Johnson's re-election keeps our bullhorn in place so we get some priority. I think the bigger concern will be the individual states and how they decide to regulate vaping.

Sadly, there are some people who just feel it is their charge in life to tell other people how to live their lives. Happily, they are on the way out.

My hope is that the FDAs lame though highly impactful attempt to label vape products as an organic plant that is lit on fire will be thrown out completely and replaced with consumer centered guidelines for safety and quality control. Higher quality higher vape satisfaction higher quit rates. Better mods better tanks better coils. Guidelines for vaping rather then regulations for profit....I mean health...i mean politics....I mean the children.

Well, you get what I mean.

...but to overcome the damage that has been done by the SG's report ?
People think the word of that position is gospel.

I think you will find that Most People have Very Short Memories.

Remember all the Fervor that was generated by the 2015 CDC Diacetyl report? How much do you hear about it Now?

I think this Parting Shot by a Bought n' Sold Agenda Puppet... I mean Respected Surgeon General, will be a Footnote in the History of Vaping one year from Today.

Well I can tell you for fact that my folks bought it totally.
My Mother will never switch now.
I can't even vape in their house anymore - and my Mother smokes in the house.

How many others have been totally frightened away now ??

I have a friend who had heart bypass earlier this year and he blames vaping. Forget that he smoked cigarettes for 40+ years. His heart surgery came a year after he started vaping so that must be it. Right?

I have a blood clot in my calf (superficial vein, so harmless) and I blame my year of vaping completely. COULDNT have anything to do with smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for 30+ years....

Ever since I started vaping the gas gauge in my truck has been acting up. No doubt what caused that!
