What ticks me off about this whole children thing is that it's illegal under the age of 18 in most states already. So, if the FDA is basing it on "but think of the keikis (Hawaiian speak for children)!!!" and states its illegal under the age of 18 on a federal level, how can they go on to dictate a 100% ban on something that's already declared illegal to the base group they're supposedly protecting? (that's a rhetorical question by the way, because we ARE talking about the FDA and their cronies. Oh well. Guess we all have to wait and see. Oh and needless to say, at least one of the BT companies "Eclipse" was around before 2007 and the others had probably slapped patents on designs of the current rubbish you see today from BT in the 7-11.

Later edit: oops, was responding to Bronze and missed Katya's message. Thanks Katya.

Hulamooon, I'm just thinking out loud and trying to make sense out of all this mess. It seems to me that if the author of the bill himself doesn't believe in its chances anymore and introduced a bipartisan alternative to it, why on earth are we (CASAA) still backing it?

Actually I'm counting on the fact that it is an election year to help us in a way. The Cole amendment made it out of committee and will come up for a full vote. Being an election year, no one will want to mess with the appropriations bill, so it has a better chance of passing as is than in a non election year. If we get lucky and it makes it to Obama's desk (which I think there is a reasonable chance) he won't dare veto the bill, because it could create a budget nightmare that might cost Dems votes. The safest move in this election year, for all involved, is to pass the appropriations bills and move on regardless of what amendments are attached.

My point exactly. Then why are we still pushing for the DOA HR2058? Anyone?

The Appropriations bill is our best chance right now and the one we should be supporting, no?

I actually took a picture of what the ecig looked like way back in 2007-2009. The filter looks like a furnace filter, the e liquid (yes I still have it- Mocha) is made by MyVapor Store, and yes they look like a cigalike (njoy). Unfortunately, I am unable to upload it.
I kept this paraphernalia for nostalgia. Little did I know what the future would bring- phenomenal technology, millions quitting combustibles, and finally an answer to our prayers to quit.
The FDA, BT, BP and Stanton Glantz are responsible for those who will not have the chance to explore this amazing technology. They will be added to the 400K that combustibles have already claimed. Shame on these greedy .......s.

I'd like to wish Mitch Zeller a Happy Mother's Day but I think forum censors would change how I would (properly) word that.
i would also like to wish comrade Zeller a happy mothers day in the same fashion
but intend to refrain because my beer and evening meds do not play well with
my usually cheerful and polite attitude.( all this is true except the cheerful and polite
part)
:p

I've been wondering today if there is any legal grounds to challenge this as it is actually a ban? I mean, the FDA isn't allowed to ban them right, but effectively they are because the hoops are scientifically impossible to jump through. Just thinking out loud.

IMO, people should be Contacting their Reps about Both. I just demonstrates that their is a Small Army of people in the USA who Don't Like the way that things are Proceeding.

But you are Correct. The Appropriations Bill amendment is perhaps the Only Viable option in the Legislative arena.

I already have--a long time ago, when the first CTAs were issued, and then again yesterday. They can hear me alright, believe me. Nobody responded yet, though. ;)
A+ for you! :)

Talk of HR2058 being DOA does not advance our cause.

Write again tomorrow. :)

It's easy. Click here if anyone wants to know how to contact their representative.

I wish my representative wasn't so danged ..... out of it.
Everytime I contact him by email he sends me a reply about
a food pantry nearby I may be interested in and other
equally not on the subject things. Contacting him
at the local office he's just............weird. Will be voting
him out next time he's up for re-election.
Also contacting Senators etc. through the Casaa thing I'm now
on the spam list for every politician that ever held office.
Talk about taking it for the team. Oh well.

Imports for sale - this is an interesting one and we'll have to see what the FDA choose to do. Fundamentally, though, they're unlikely to pull stuff off the market unless they're certain that it wasn't on the market prior to the cut-off (August 8th). I mean, it's not out-with the realms of possibility that this does happen, but why would they bother?
While I would agree for the most part, something did occur to me...

What if someone came up with some new advancement?
Something obvious, like variable voltage or temperature control was.

Might the FDA want to shut that down fast?
I have no doubt they would be capable of detecting such things.

Although i wish with all my heart for this to be true my brain tells me that
health and safety concerns plus the chillin' thing is the Royal Flush in the hands
of the FDA.

I agree with the author:
"Any new hope lies in the UK, where Public Health England, the Government, the RCP and MHRA are all embracing vaping as a harm reduction opportunity. Manufacturers will be hampered by the disproportionate regulation coming from the EU Tobacco Products Directive, but compared to these FDA regulations, it will be a walk in the park. Most products will remain on the market, innovation will continue, more smokers will switch to vaping and smoking rates will continue to decline."

We American vapers (and smokers) may very well be saved by the actions of our friends across the pond. They are an example we need to emphasize!
