Reynolds enters FDA modified-risk regulatory gauntlet for 6 Camel Snus styles

"Analysts have projected that the cost of a FDA regulatory review would be several million dollars for each pre-market tobacco application, or PMTA. An application is expected to be required for each flavoring and nicotine content level.

By comparison, the FDA estimates the average cost of an PTMA application at $466,563 each.

Reynolds said it has submitted more than 450,000 pages of documentation with its application.

By comparison, Swedish Match said its General Snus application contained more than 100,000 pages."

This just Doesn't Sound like Promoting THR on the FDA's part. Or a "Reasonable" implementation of what the Intent of the TCA was/is.

But hey... The FDA only has to grant 1 PMTA or MRTP order in the next 10 years so it Can't be Called a Ban.

Of the Entire amount of US Vapers, I wonder how many have a Freezer Full of Nicotine?

30% ?
10% ?
5% ?
Less than 5% ?
Freezer full? No. Enough to last me a decade? Yes.

That ^^^ I have to agree with.

Previous FDA knew exactly what they were doing. They even had sit-downs with CASAA and others that are fighting for us yet still came up with that draconian deeming.

We inadvertently gave them the ammunition with which they proceeded to take aim at us.

They have forever broken our trust. I will Not forget.

I honestly feel like all those "IMPORTANT vape surveys" were bought and paid for by the FDA (on dark channels) which is how they were able to precisely shut down the industry...without "breaking the law" as the Nicopure case "clearly" illustrates.

I filled out a lot of those, and always had the eerie feeling I was giving away the perfect information for someone use AGAINST me (or US).

Makes me sick.

I have been monitoring the price of 1000mg nic for a year now, and it hasnt increased a bit. So there is no supply/demand effect yet.
Yep. That really surprised the heck out of me. Based on what happens in grocery stores when there's snow in the forecast (up north) or a hurricane approaching any SE coast, was well as what happened with firearms & ammo twice in recent memory, I was expecting something of a run on nic when the Deeming was proposed back in the spring of 2014. Nope didn't happen. And again when it was finalized last year; barely a blip.

Either everyone is already fully stocked or the vast majority is plain oblivious.

I say plain oblivious. My local shop will not talk about it.

I've talked to employees in shops, many of the ones I talked to were were surprised that someone could make their own eliquid, if they were curious I'd lay it all out for them, and explain the actual cost and the process. I am always careful to make sure I'm not overheard by their customers, because I have gotten dirty looks from owners when I even mentioned DIY.

I would venture that DIY'ers are a tiny drop out of a very large bucket.

I agree, mine were offended that I diy'ed and I politely told them if they could make 100% vg I would purchase juice from them. I wanted to buy some drip tips and little odds and ins from them but after that, I decided not to give them my business. I get the impression some of these stores will be going out of business soon.
I hate that too.

There's a couple around here that are struggling, one I used to frequent had a bogo on coils one day a week, buy one, get one half price. They had other specials other days, but suddenly stopped all of them and clearance sale'd a lot of their stuff. One that seems to be thriving is a two part store, catering to the dark side on one half. I fear that those type stores will be the ones to hold on the longest in certain areas.

I expect the same thing, only head shops and smoke shops will remain as b&m sources. Without "manufactured" house liquids, there won't be enough cash flow to cover a storefront with only ecig supplies. What a great way to encourage healthy behavior.

I think it's quite likely. Most vape shops will struggle with the ideas that they would be breaking any laws, the other half are WELL practiced in maintaining the dark side of that business and getting away with it anyway.... I'm not thrilled by this, though it's amazing that I could go (had I wanted to) to the back door and discuss illegal purchase(s) of much stuff, while behind the counter they're selling "tobacco pipes" and "incense equipment."

LOL, there is this one smoke shop I used to frequent and when I first came to Tucson I was broke and my mother was buying me a carton of cigarettes, and I was RIGHT there, they freaked out and assumed my mother was making an "underage purchase" for me. I shoved my DL at them and went, "I'm just BROKE, okay?"

Later I took my son there and he was 10 at the time, and he mentioned these cool "incense matches" and being as how we are both pyros, I tried to purchase them.... "No."
"Wait, what why, this is my money, I can buy matches."
"Look, we know he's your kid, you're buying them for him."
"I don't see EXACTLY why that matters to you.... but okay."

LOL, I had to go back and buy them, I almost wondered if the incense smell would have me drifting away into space or something.... But it was fine, no one lost an eye.

It's odd. You can go purchase a water pipe so EASILY, with minimal fuss, but like cigarette stuff, they are not used to dealing with I guess. Or, terrified that I was a policewoman (a very cool one) undercover and trying to "make" the sale. LOL. No. Maybe I should have shown them my tattoo and reddened my eyes up first. Heh.

But vape shop employees don't think like smoke shop employees. I'm not really okay with that fact, and I think they will survive and become a few large conglomerates, or they will fold, and that's a shame. Most vape shop owners are really trying to do ex-smokers a service.... Sigh.
