Just noting that this type of tax is generally referred to as a sin tax. This lets the puritanical governments and governed believe that its a good thing

An eliquid tax is also, at least in principle, an egregious violation of the Equal Protection clause of the Constitution. You can't tax classes of people. You can't tax males different than females, or blacks different than whites or Asians. You can't tax classes of people "just becuz...". In this case, we have a class of people that previously used a product deemed to be very harmful and taxed accordingly. They switch to a new product, not known to be harmful, and the gov't taxes them equally to the harmful product.... just becuz.

I'm not saying it would be a winner in court, but at least in principle it is an egregious violation of Equal Protection.

From what I read on the Lightning Vapes thread, they link you to a list of items that require ID verification. I don't believe wire was one of them.

Good catch. And, actually, my change of heart has come about because I feel like we've lost ground. Two weeks, and 300 or so pages ago, I was still naively optimistic what we would see some counter-point in the mass media.

I though, for sure, that we'd see some mobilization by the vaping organizations, between-the-commercials visits from spokespeople frm CASAA and SAFATA on CNN, FNC, and MSNBC. I though, by now, that when a Dr. JJ recited the lies about formaldehyde, there'd at least be someone on the panel to say "...but didn't we see Dr. Siegel say..."

But...nothing.

The mainstream media play seems to be over, it's on to something else, and the biggest media we're discussing now is a bit from the Hallmark channel- and with no counter, at that.

I'm afraid that all we may have left is to demand to be left alone as others would have for themselves.

The media had the harm-reduction debate, and they never even called anyone from our side.

We're nearly half way to August, now, and I don't see where J Q Public has even heard from our side.

That was an old article (2011). A refresher might be a good idea. I'll write him too. Stossel just got over lung cancer treatment. But he's back in the saddle.

Getting Stossel, or any "mainstream" journalist is always helpful. That Stossel article is quite good, but when I checked the header, it's from 2011. Perhaps he would be willing to revisit the issue once again.
