I’ve certainly been wondering that. There definitely seems to be a large drop in participation here since I joined. I really hope the site continues as it such a helpful resource for all things vaping and then there’s the awesome people here! I hope ECF is around indefinitely!

Isn't the owner in the UK? Or it's hosted there, or something? I don't think it is wholly USA based anyway
I am not sure this site will be economically viable for many more years, maybe even months. Without USA advertising dollars, I don't see how it can continue. Oliver, in my opinion, has little to no interest in the site, moderation in neigh on to non-existent, starting this thread may have been his lat action. I believe the site is dying, slow but inexorable. If a small cohesive group or an individual bought it, as owners they would set the rules. It could be wiser and cheaper to start anew, preferably with a new less eye catching name.
Is US based advertising solely what is keeping this ship afloat? There is nothing that can stop it other than the owners pulling out voluntarily so it’s just a matter of what is worth it to keep going and what isn’t.
Although there is an every bit as real war on free speech right now, it’s progress isn’t as far along in terms of vaping being a target to warrant any sort of forced shut down.
I understand how real life comes calling rather relentlessly so it could just become unfeasible to keep the lights on, especially if it’s a small head count operation.
In terms of moderation I’m sure there are some old hats that would step up to the plate and be trustworthy. I’d volunteer myself but none of you know me and I only ever step in when it’s a matter of doxx’ing some one etc. or a real life disruption, being that it’s an 18+ site. Plus, the first rule of moderation is, you do not ask to be a moderator. And the second rule of moderation is...
It concerns me how as I look around in the vape realm, everyone seems so defeated. (Not you guys specifically, just in general) Like they’re just giving up. That’s no way to live a life, they put heels on your boots for a reason. It’s not over..

Come on guys, it’s time now more than ever to be the thorn in the ... of the person who believes they can walk into your home and start ordering you around like you’re some preschooler who can’t figure out their own shoe laces. Like you don’t deserve to even think about having an opinion.
Do what you came to do but in my humble opinion, if you roll over on something as trivial as vaping you’re lining yourself up to have a sad, sad existence. We have immune systems for a reason and that is because a “sterile life” was never even a consideration on the table when this whole experience was to kick off, mentally or physically. Let’s get dirty ya’ll..

. My question was like a kid asking for a cookie 30 minutes before dinner... you KNOW what the answer’s going to be, but hope you’re wrong and ask anyway . It’s undeniable that usage has dropped over the last few years. I think once they stopped verifying people for the classies that we should have seen the writing on the wall... our Captain was getting ready to abandon ship and leave us to drift along. I will be sad to see it go. I doubt I could’ve made the switch to vaping without the support and advice of people here.
A question for folks who get ads. Are they region directed, so a member from the UK sees UK or EU ads vs. US vendors for US members?

I follow some subforums and threads on VU, and traffic there has also slowed quite a bit.
I am also thankful for this forum and all of you. I had already made the switch some time before I joined, but there is no way I would've been prepared for fda doomsday without all of you.
I was piddling around with Egos when I signed up on ECF. Whenever I wanted something I checked here for ideas. Found out you could make your own coils and mix juice, and how to do those things. Where to buy stuff, where to buy good batteries.
Recently decideded I needed some new mods after 2 years of not buying anything. Came here for ideas. In a few days I got a breakdown of what's out there and picked a couple. It would be much harder to figure it all out without all the good information in one place and people to answer questions.
It must cost a bit to maintain all this. All the old messages going back to the beginning, and jpg's use up a lot of space. I remember being on deals like yahoo groups where they constantly deleted old messages to save space. Maybe space is cheaper these days.

I tell everyone I know who vapes, to come here. Imagine how many less accidents/bad experiences would be if more vapers got informed as we are, through Mooch, Bad, Kurt, the early 'Burning Carto' crew and so many others. And... how many more advocates.
I would likely never have decided to DIY or had the guts to start building without this place. And I certainly wouldn't have had as much fun. I will be awfully sad if/when it dies.
