Thanks Jewels. :)

I found a bottle of the NF caramel cream that I had mixed at 15%. So I upped it to 20% and put in a carto. It's very "buttery".

Now I'm 99% sure that the NF cream flavors are used in a well known vendor's juices.

Ya know...it's one thing for a DIYer to knowingly take the risk of using some of these flavors with diacetyl. It's another thing entirely for juice vendors to be using these flavors and not alerting their customers so that they can make an informed choice.

Ok...I'll stop now.

The FA Cuban Supreme is terrible. Too sweet for my liking. Some kind of floral note that clashes with the tobacco. Who in the hell said it reminds them of Cuban cigars is beyond me ! LOL
Can you put anything in it to lessen the sweet. Like Bitter Wizard or vinegar? Just curious? I still have not mixed up the camel ultimate FA. I plan on doing some mixing before Friday.

I doubt it. This floral note is strong. It's even candy-ish. It reminds of some of those SC tobacco flavors that just is very sweet, and makes me feel like I'm eating candy more than vaping. Cuban tobacco is very rich and robust. I have some Cuba from Hangsen steeping right now. But that's going to steep 2 weeks to a month. The Hangsen Cuba does smell like fresh cigar.

I mixed the FA Cuban at 2%

I suppose I will get into the hangsen flavorings. I hope my experiment with the FA camel ultimate works. However, my last try with FA was failure with the flavors. Nothing seemed tasty on the tobacco ones. Grr....cannot wait for more hangsen flavorings. I want to pick up a few now but also want to try the NF.

FA tobaccos are hit and miss. Especially if theyre over-flavored. I like Perique Black, Dark Vapure, Desert Ship, Ry4, Latakia and Virginia. Tuscan Reserve is pretty good, but it's a bit sweet after awhile.

I haven't had any luck with the FA Cuban either. I have mixed it at 2%. I don't get anything sweet, just, I guess I will call a harshness. Just not at all what I think it should be like. I like the Latakia and the Dark Vapure also. In fact I mixed 1 drop of each of them, a drop of oak wood and a drop of Toasted Almond with 2 drops of the Cuban in 5 ml and all I could taste was the Cuban..Guess I should dig that out and see if it has changed any....I have been wanting to get the Perique Black. I had a vendors Perique Black that I really liked...

I added a couple of drops of BW to the Cuban. In the cabinet it goes for 3 more weeks. I do this with the Dark Vapure. I mix it at 2.5% steep it for a month. That's how I get the cocoa note to shine. Toto, I love your taste in mixing FA tobaccos.

Hi all. Salemgold requested that I take a look at this situation. I am assuming that NF means "Nature's Flavors". The butterscotch has two things in it that could do this, although I have no experience with this happening to me, nor have I used these flavors. One is gum arabic. It is a natural gum thickener/hardener, and the heat could have made it polymerize more. I personally avoid vaping flavors that have gum arabic in them, but mainly because I do not want gum compounds in my lungs. The other is citric acid, which may have precipitated upon concentrating. It is somewhat soluble in water, but less so if more concentrated. Not uncommon for a flavoring to have this or another pH adjusting or tartness enhancing acid, like mallic acid. I also have no experience with these compounds, nor do I know how concentrated these flavors are to begin with.

After a bit of searching, it looks like this white substance is gum arabic after it has been heated. This substance is used to make hard candy, since it sets up with heat. More than the citric acid, I think this is gum arabic you are seeing. It will dissolve slowly in hot water, and it could well react in some way with some plastics when concentrated and is in the hardening process. Think of it as a natural edible plastic. It is essentially a natural polymer tree sap that gets hard after being dissolved in water and then heated. I found this pdf on it:

http://docencia.izt.uam.mx/epa/archivos/quimalim/arabiga.pdf

In it there is this statement: "Prolonged heating gum arabic solutions causes the proteinaceous components to
precipitate out of solution thus influencing the gum’s emulsification properties."

This will be a white hard coating on the container walls, like you see. So while I do not know for sure, it seems like this is the result of heating gum arabic contained in the flavoring. Personally I am not a fan of inhaling either polymers, their precursors, or proteins. When I see gums listed in a flavor's ingredients, that scotches it for me (no pun intended here!), and I do not purchase, let alone use that flavor.

Just my $0.02.

I'm positive that citric acid is not in the flavor and I don't believe gum arabic would be either. I think I heated the bottles hotter than anyone else here and all of the flavors and bottles are still crystal clear. Gum Arabic could be in their flavor oils but there wouldn't be a benefit in using it for the alchohol based concentrates.
