i was in Longs today (the typical Walgreens in Hawaii)… and saw a CVS nasal solution of saline .9% but saw all the other additives and thought; maybe this is not the one you are referencing?

but i guess it is? so must be ok… wasn't sure.

not asking for controversy on anything… just if that is the one that we can use without making our own.

If it has additives, you don't want it! I found I didn't like the saline, but, the one I got from CVS is called "Simply Saline" by Arm & Hammer and only has Purified water and 0.9% sodium chloride. Its in a metal can with the top 1" being red and the rest being white.

I Talked with the pharmacist about what I was doing. Yes the one I did get has Sodium Bicarbonate in it as well but he assured that it was alright. Said the SB was there to stabilize the ph in the Nacl. I asked him numerous times if it was cool using this stuff and he reassured me it was. The saline I was wanting that was for irrigation was behind the counter and needed a scrip to get it so he walked me over to the shelve to get what I got. :vapor:

I seen a Arm & Hammer there as well but it had 3 or 4 ingredients in it so I passed on it. Hmmm...maybe I was looking at something else.

I bought 'wound wash' at Walgreens. .9% saline and distilled water. I don't want any other ingredients because I don't want to add any taste ingredients other than salt. But, I have no idea if Sodium Bicarbonate has any taste to it at all or if it would have any affect on other flavoring I add to my juice.

While 3 drops was too much for a 4ml carto tank (I can taste the bicarb) it did cut the ph and there is no more mouth and throat irritation. Working off that premiss, I added 3 drops to the remaining 15ml bottle and will adjust up from there if needed. It should be workable without being able to taste the bicarb.

Please use distilled water if anyone decides to try this out! I used tap water because I was too impatient to wait til I could get distilled
So cool Bov! I never had to use it for vaping yet. However, it does make sense. . Yes, it sounds like it may work for you. Fingers crossed for you.

I been using the saline in my mixes for around 2 months now and will not make juice without it again . Not sure I've noticed much of flavour enhancement but the moisturizing effect is amazing . Don't have soar throat at all anymore like use to before since use higher pg ratio .i use 5% in my mixes and does the job for me .

I'm somewhat skeptical on the saline and am interested in hearing from someone that knows it improved the flavor of their juice. Salt is corrosive and would definitely build up on the coils. My gut feeling is to skip the salt.

I also noticed that no one has stated it improves Flavor, like I said I use a little Distilled Water for my Sharp Fruits it is a lot cheaper and it works!

Well you learn something new every day. I though it was used to thin a mix. I'm very interested in the moisturizing effect of the saline or baking soda. Changing the ph of the mix makes a lot of sense and I think I remember reading about that a long time ago in one of the threads. If I remember correctly it also makes a big difference in flavor retention of the mix.

After a full day of heavy vaping my throat gets raw and at bed time I get this feeling like a pin is caught in my throat which causes me to cough like crazy at night. So anyone think this will help?

would love to here from any of the people that have been doing this for a while.

45% Propylene glycol, 45% Vegetable glycerin, 10% deminarelized water

This is called a Power Smoke Base. It was created to make it more like Smoking.

Is EM the only thing that will add moistness to the vape? I get such an awful dry tongue. I always add at least 3 to 4 drops of em to 10 ml in all of my concoctions. My mix is usually near 70 pg 30 vg with 10 to 12% flavor.

I also add a touch of saline solution to my concoctions (a drop or two of .9% saline solution (Cleanoz) into 10ml is all you need - You won't really taste the salt). Besides helping "moisturize" the juice, it helps make the flavors "pop" a bit more - especially in high-VG recipes.

Works for me....
The saline is an amazing goodness! Our "base" for almost everything we mix is now 80% VG with a 20% dilution (the 20% dilution is made up of 45% distilled water; 45% .9% saline; and 10% PGA). The flavors are much more *alive*, the dry mouth is lessened, and the final juice is MUCH easier on coils/wicks! The 'salt' (agree - we can't taste) is essential imo for certain flavors....particularly chocolate & bakery flavors

In the future, we'll be trying a dilution that's a higher percentage of the saline solution.

This is what we use: Saline Solution .9% 250ml ...but luckily, our local mom & pop pharmacy sell it for less than $5.00 for a liter!

Edit: Oh yes, I almost forgot...if you want a quick "tongue/mouth wetter-rejuvenator-cleanser-wiper", squirt an eyedropper full of .9% saline directly on your tongue! I rub it around with my fingers and then wipe it off with a paper towel real quick-like (if I don't do it quickly, the salt water makes me gag)...and then take a big drink of water to wash out any remaining salt. SeeyaBYE 'vapers tongue'!

wow…
Vapers who spend a lot of time vaping (low nic%)… i knew there had to be some tricks.
Not only for the initial recipe, but for changing morphing tongue taste sensation….
some times in the day a juice will taste different depending on what you just ate, how much you have been vaping…
(that "most chefs are fat" thing… i guess it pays to be moderate which would be one of the tricks)

You guys are crazy.

Yet, since I haven't tried it, I don't want to talk "out of school".

So I'm going to go put some pure salt (Kosher salt) into some water and add a bit to my juice I'm dripping. Pretty sure I'm
A) Not going to taste it
B) Going to gunk my coil
C) confirm that y'all are nuts. (said in a friendly-joking way).

There's a reason that tea kettles and pans can get scale on them. Minerals don't vaporize. At least, not at these temps. Sure, a few ions could float around somehow...or it helps the juice steep somehow with chemical-magic....but I doubt it. BRB.

Well, for me, no difference than if I just had added water (no salt).
Couldn't taste any salt...which means it's left behind on the coil.

I'll bet those that use saline, could just add distilled water. But that's just my guess.

What are your experiences? Have your DH/DW/DD/DS/D? mix two small vials...one with water, one with saline and otherwise the same PG/VG/Nic/Flavors etc. Do a blind taste test. Which is which? Can you tell?

P.S.
No fair dripping the saline one through the drip tip...you get saline solution on the drip tip....so remove the drip tip to drip if you are dripping.

I just tried it today in small 5ml test batches. From what I could tell, it did seem to moisten the vape somewhat. It also seemed to "pop" the flavor a tiny bit. My mixes were a 50/50 blend. Hey, it can't be all bad or they would'nt give it to ya for breathing treatments, Which brings to mind, one of the threads I was reading (dont remember where though), the person that was writing I'm guessing worked in a hospital and said he never seen treatment mask or tubing with any scale in them. I'm not experienced enough to say yea or nae on the matter. I'm kinda testing the waters so to speak.
