OK, there's still a withdraw from the stinkies. You push through it for two short weeks. Mess with flavors, do something to occupy your time. Vape your .... off as a substitute. But you have to decide NO MORE BURNING. Or maybe just "NO BURNING TODAY". One day at a time.

Gum, lozenges, patches, etc. didn't work for me. I missed the habit too. And the gum/lozenges messed with my stomach. That patch doesn't let you control the dose.

But vaping worked. And I did DIY juice to start (kit) so that I could futz with stuff for a while. I cleaned up all ashtrays, burned up the last cigs, and I was DONE.

Don't buy anymore. Don't bum them. Just vape.

Decide. Commit. Don't give them (tobacco companies) any more money. No more nasty taxes either.

Find out what works for you. And if that fails, try again, change stuff.

I had given up trying to quit about 15 years ago, I was smoking 2 to 2.5 PAD for most of those 25 years and had been hospitalized multiple times for breathing issues. I knew I was getting ready to be hospitalized again within a week or two, I was having to sleep in the sitting position. I decided to try vaping again, I tried before back in 2013/2014. The vape got me to significantly cut back at 6%. After a few weeks, one of the vape shop guys mentioned nic salts if I really wanted to quit smoking. About that time, I started to form a support group here. I can say, I am off the stinkies since February 2018 and can call myself a nonsmoker.

Absolutely!! I tried my first cigarette when I was around 11. Most of my family smoked. They were easy to get a hold of. The people I looked up to and trusted, smoked, so what could be wrong with it?!? I was a full time smoker when I went off to college. Quit smoking to start a family, started back up after my son was born, when I went back to work. I had used the pills, patches, gum and was absolutely miserable. Around the time I joined this forum, I was a dual user and smoked my last cigarette in 2015. I haven’t looked back. Don’t miss it one bit. Good luck!! This is a great place for advice and support! I feel very lucky to have found it and have made some very dear friends. :)

After ~45 years of smoking, vaping is the only thing that worked for me. There were a few difficult times once in a while that didn't last long, but I just stayed on course. A few times in the first year were the hardest, but as I said, they didn't last long.

I'm 5 1/2 years smoke-free, and I don't think anyone could pay me enough to smoke a cigarette now. It's disgusting.

Hi everyone, I got a SMOK V8 Stick to helpfully drop my tabacco habit for good. I just started on 6mg juice (that’s the highest mg I can find in stores). And I’m wondering if vaping has helped any of you stop smoking. I’ve heard a lot of contradictory reports, some saying it’s a great way to quit while others say it’s not an effective method. I would love to hear your personal stories on if it helped or not. Or if you have any tips to stop smoking and stick to only vaping. Your stories, opinions, and tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I smoked 2 PAD for about 38 years and had given up on ever quitting. I didn't expect vaping to work. It sounded too good to be true. But, I gave it a try anyway. And, miracle of miracles, it worked!

On Feb. 27th, it'll be 8 years since I've had a cigarette. No urge whatsoever.

IOW, yes, it does work!

The only caveat is that everybody is different. So, if what you try isn't working, just try something else. You'll find something that works for you.

Everyone thank you so much for the support and for giving out your stories and journeys. For the first time I feel like it’s possible to quit. I know it’ll be rough, but it seems like with patience and a will to quit I can do it. Thank you all again, and I wish you all the best!

Best of luck with vaping. As others have shown - it can be done. You just need to experiment with gear and styles to find what works for you.

I played mega mind games on myself when quitting smoking. Told myself my vape was EXACTLY the same as smoking, just a better smelling option.

It worked, along with chain vaping my .... off - especially through those first few weeks (which sucked big fat hairy monkey balls ;))

It was pretty easy for me to switch to vaping from cigarettes but now I'm working on quitting vaping--for me, that's the hardest part. Good luck!

I never saw a reason to quit vaping. I loved smoking, but knew it would eventually shorten my life. I don't think about vaping the same way I did about smoking. Vaping is probably as safe or safer than walking around down town breathing the air with cars going up and down the street. People do that for a lifetime and survive to old age without developing lung disease.

After nine years of vaping 10ml juice a day MTL my lungs are just fine. I routinely get oxygen saturation readings of 98 and 99 percent while working out with weights and doing 30 minutes on the exercise bike. Anything above 95% is considered great O-Sat readings.

Well the real question to ask first is "do I want to stop smoking?"
Unless that answer is yes, then vaping isn't going to work.

If the answer is yes, then vaping can check off a lot of boxes in the list of triggers. Yet there are going to be struggles for many.

Folks who are told "you can't smoke" for reasons such as health will likely fair better than "you can't smoke" by a corparation.

When big brother tells me "you can't do X", guess what I will be doing?

For me vaping replaces several cigarettes a day. I could not answer "yes" to the do you want to quit when my doctor said "you should". Thus far I haven't chosen to stop completely. Instead of 30-40 a day it's 15-20 and declining....

Once I found a device that suits my wants it's just a matter of time now. The day I say "yes" will have a much greater chance of success thanks to vaping.

I smoked for 40 years anywhere from 1-3 packs daily. I tried the many "approved" stop smoking methods and all failed miserably. I was sure I was going to my grave with a pack of smokes in my pocket. I tried vaping the disposables back in 2013 with the hopes of cutting back, but got tired of those things failing too soon. Finally bought an Ego starter kit in Feb 2014 and it took. Now, approaching my 5 year mark cigarette free. And my nic levels dropped from 24mg to 3-6mg. All my numbers are great when taking a physical. I feel I've added a number of years to my life. I'd say, yes, it does really work!

Just started vaping to cut down on smoking costs. At first it was very hard to even cut down with mtl tanks that did not mimic how I smoked. Was about to quit vaping when I stumbled across this thing direct lung sub ohm tanks. Ordered a new tank and was down to just a few smokes within a week or so. Find the gear and nic level that works for you. You'll likely have withdrawal and cravings but it does get much better with time. For myself I had to decide to not buy another pack of cigs, knew I couldn't keep them in the house. I would suggest that you buy a second tank to keep a higher mg juice in for those times when the cravings are stronger, especially in the morning or after meals. Make sure you buy a second backup; our gear are mass produced products and sometimes will just stop working. Get familiar with the reliable brands and enjoy the journey.

It worked for me. I was a dedicated, 3 ppd smoker (toward the end) after several decades of smoking. My health issues gave me that final push... But it most certainly worked.

I did not think anything would EVER work, but the beginning stages of COPD are super unpleasant as it happened. So, I started vaping, and then ECF taught me how. Seriously if you are having troubles, post about it. Sometimes people need to experiment with different setups, nicotine levels and etc. But, it most definitely can work, especially if YOU want it to enough.

I will also say vaping did me one better... .Every time I quit using WHATEVER method I mourned smoking (constantly, the whole time). Once I got to stable vaping I did not miss cigarettes, hardly ever and hardly at all.

Good luck and welcome to ECF.

Trust Me... With a Strong Desire and a Degree of Patience you Can Make It.

It might take a Little Experimentation to find what Set-Up/e-Liquid is Best for you. But that is where the ECF truly Shines.

So when you are to Start, Let Us Know.

I had stopped smoking before I ever heard of this thing called vaping. My "addiction" is to the mechanics of smoking, not the tobacco or the nicotine (I use neither in my DIY's that I've made and vaped almost from the start).

So... does vaping help you stop smoking?

It depends on how you approach it IMO. If you use it to get off all tobacco products completely AND start reducing your nicotine intake in steps until you no longer need it, yes it can. But lots of vaping folks still use tobacco NET's and high nicotine liquids years after they started vaping. They will not get it done that way without some major changes in their vaping IMO.

The good news is that there have been some folks on this forum that did it right AND stopped vaping when they stopped using tobacco products and no longer needed the nic. They are the real winners in using vaping as an end to a means if that was their goal by becoming completely smoke free AND vape free. A big thumbs up to them.
