I've done that "butane fire" in the pocket before, too! LOL
That's odd

A friend and I started at the same time, I bought a Provari tons of e-liquid, a couple MAP tanks, cherry tips, ect... basically everything that looked good on COV site and my girlfriend has been smoking fifty-ones sold at our mall. She so far has spend more than I have but I've had nothing but trouble with my Provari tank system since I've bought it. The 510 DCT cartomizers go out before I'm finished with my liquid and I end up losing all my liquid trying to change those out, I didn't order enough carto's the first time and so went back on analog while I waited for those to come in....when the Provari works I love it, most of the time I end up buying a pack of cigs because it doesn't work. Should have went to the mall.
What voltage are you running your dct's at? If the Ao reading (ohms) is 1.5 try running them at 3.7 or so. They'll work just as well and last longer I think.A friend and I started at the same time, I bought a Provari tons of e-liquid, a couple MAP tanks, cherry tips, ect... basically everything that looked good on COV site and my girlfriend has been smoking fifty-ones sold at our mall. That's a good one. However, I needed to seal the end of a rope I had cut the other day, and I found out the first "downside" to going with the vapor method. No longer do I carry a butane lighter...

I kept a couple of lighters around in my apt "just in case." A couple classic style bics, and one of the really old freebies from Camel. A torch style with what appears to be motorcycle chain around the edge, in orange. I like to burn incense in my apt at times, so I do need a lighter for that as well.
Yeah, I have incense around too, as well as a ancient gas range whose oven lights manually. I'm not ditching my Zippo for anything...
Even my never-smoked-ever Mom carries a bic in her purse for candles and stuff. Just handy to have.
Yeah, mine is a special one too, only made for a year or two and in the UK.

I didn't read the whole 34+ pages but it sure started out on the right foot. I would add:
DON'T limit yourself to the size of a cigarette (I like the eGo line personally)
DON'T limit yourself to premixed e-juice/e-liquid (learn to mix your own)
DON'T think you have to get the high nic content (I smoked light 100's and shouldn't have got the 24mg e-juice to start) now I'm mixing up 12mg juice.
DON'T give up due to initial cost (it is a lot cheaper in the long run)
DO be careful with liquid nicotine (it is a strong poison, use gloves (it is absorbed thru the skin))
DO try a few flavors (don't let 1 bad flavor stop you)
DO let the e-juice/e-liquid steep (many premixes are fresh made and need to be steeped for the flavor to come out)
DO shop around and do your research, but DON'T put it off forever, get started
My eGo-C arrived on 5-17-2012 and I had my last cigarette while unpacking it and setting it up.
So far Irish Cream , and Watermelon are pretty good.

Right from the beginning:
- DON'T UNDERSPEND
- DON'T UNDERESTIMATE
- DON'T UNDERSTOCK
... over a few weeks you will begin to save the dollars and begin to feel better. More importantly, you will save your life.
- DO GET THE BEST PERSONAL VAPE SYSTEM
- DO EXPECT EXPECT TO QUIT ANALOGS - FOREVER
- DO PURCHASE MORE THAN ENOUGH FROM THE BEGINNING
Hey PaporPlas! I've been smoking for 10+ years and want to start living a healthier lifestyle. I did a TON of research and ended up building my own "Starter Kit", but I got a bit of sticker-shock when I went to pay and decided not to place the order and look for a cheaper brand and fewer options. Your post reaffirmed my initial decision to go with a quality product. I just (minutes ago) placed my first e-cig order, thanks to you!
I decided to purchase everything "a la carte" style because I wasn't sure what I would like - do I want to use an atomizer or cartomizer, what flavors of e-Liquid would I like? So many options! I felt that a true starter kit was a bit limiting to one style (the eGo-T with the atomizer + tank).
Here was the final list:
- Two Joyetech eGo-C Twist batteries (with two chargers - 1 for work, 1 for home)
- Four Joyetech eGo-T Atomizers (2 Type A, 2 Type B)
- Two Joyetech eGo-T Cartridges
- Two 5-Pack Boge Refillable 510 Cartomizers
- Four Misc. Drip Tips
- Two 30ml Camel Flavored E-Liquid (1 PG, 1 VG) (I smoke camel analogs, so I think this will be a good transition)
- Five 10ml E-Liquid - Misc. flavors that I am pretty sure I will like.
- Five 5ml E-Liquid - Misc. flavors that I am not so sure on (but I want to try)
its that time again!That's right!
time to give a shout out to paporplas! Wahhhh-hooooo!
Had to stop by and let you know that your advice is still right onI also wanted to let you know that i'm still enjoying success with the diy. I still have only made 10ml of yeccchy e-liquid. I'm getting better at the tobacco flavors i like so much and what better way to stretch those vaping $ than by diy e-liquid?
I had to just do a quick fly-by (a yardbyrd thing) :d and say once again:
"thanks for (imho) one of the best threads on the forum....oooops! Caw! Got to fly...see you soon....be in touch.![]()
