cheap MM's are not accurate enuf to measure down to .0X ohms... plan on spending 200+$ for one that is capable of a zero set function and less than .1 ohms

other than that, the black box ohm meters are our second best bet as far as accuracy... +/- .05 ohms at best

Then you spend the money to get the right meter. Until then you just simply don't build that low. It's not worth the risk. THIS IS HIS FIRST COIL!!!

 This!!!

The first coils that a noobie should build should be 1.0 ohms or higher. If they don't have a meter to measure the coil, they have NO BUSINESS building a coil. You NEVER fire a coil without first checking the resistance.

Once someone has perfected their first coils on a consistant basis, THEN they can experiment with lower ohms and fancy coil builds.

This is not rocket science, but it does involve Ohm's Law Principles. If you go against those principles, a battery can easily go into thermal runaway and your cute little mechanical mod becomes a pipe bomb.

This business of noobs wanting to start out making 0.2 ohm coils or lower is crazy stupid. Any veteran vapers who assist a noob to make such a build is irresponsible. These builds are over-specced for all 18650 batteries currently on the market. If a vet wishes to push the limits of their batteries at that resistance, that's all on them. But encouraging a noob new to rebuilding to build that low is irresponsible.

cant tell how many leads are going into the posts.... if its one per post then its a single coil.... if its dual leads into the posts is a parallel coil

thank you very much for not being stupid. there are two leads.
this is not called a dual coil like you said it was before, it is a parallel

i don't give a crap about juice, what are those coils names? id like to hear your "opinion"
The terminology isnt wrong when it comes to coils, they all have established names.
Except you and only you want to change what they are called. why is that?

I just want people to use the proper terminology for the proper item.... some people think that since it has a different shape it has a different name but in reality it still is the same thing.... for example a tire on a car has a different shape from a tire on a 18 wheeler but its still a tire... is there a different name for the tire that fits the 18 wheeler??

no it is not, aaaahhhhh, please listen carefully, each type of coil build has its own name, they are not the same thing no matter how you describe it. they are all built differently and they all have different names.

true but if the coils were set up 1 on each side of the atty it is still a parallel coil

no it isn't, it would be called a dual coil

dual coil 7xOoh4O.jpg

Parallel coil20140317_220132.jpg

there is an obvious difference.

the battery doesnt build it and the battery cant call it anything, also that may not be true in all cases

alright... this needs to be put to rest...

build a parallel coil of 24 ga 6 wraps on a 2.5 mm shaft take an ohm reading
build 2 single wire coils with 24 ga at 6 wraps on a 2.5 mm shaft and take a ohm reading
if they differ by more than 5% then you have a case if not, they are the same coil setup....

they are named by humans and if you want to call them something then call them something that all us humans can understand and relate to. seriously, this is an issue of what every vaper and builder on earth calls them and you are trying to say otherwise

then it all boils back down to semantics.... is it a car or an automobile?
