Looks cool. What is it exactly that keeps juice from going into the cup (and down the air tube) when it's on its' side?
Something round is almost always easier seal and usually works better.Would it still be easy to make a good seal if the cup is shaped differently so that refilling can go even better still?
It doesn't have to be concave, at least flat maybe?
Wow indeed! Great job, looks like exactly what we need!
Actually, not very much. The inner part of the groove covers the empty part of the slot above the wick, and that's mostly it. The outer part of the groove is tapered in order to center the cup, so it's not doing much.Looks cool. Edit: Look at the groove on the under side of the older E2 mouthpiece. What I made is almost the same thing.
I know we're stuck with ceramic now, but if the cups were plastic and you could size the inner part of the groove to press fit inside of it right down to the top of the wick you'd probably seal the gap almost entirely.
Changing the slots ain't gonna fix nothing.Ok, well the cup will not have wide slots, right? I can't remember all the modifications that Bad mentioned.
Then, Br, you mentioned an o-ring also, you mean something like a silicone o-ring?
Well, maybe it's getting closer to what we need, heheh.
The prototype was developed to make the E2 easier to refill, not to fix a leaking or wicking problem. This development was back when I was experimenting with an earlier E2 with a plastic cup. It was working fine, so there was no need to fix anything. All I did was replace the filler ring with the rubber mouthpiece. I found that it was easier to remove and replace and that it worked just as well or better than the filler ring.I'm probably easier to please but then again I'm just using the regular size on an ego or wetbox and was getting very frustrated trying to get a decent flavor out of anything before these came along. They pretty much only leak if I overfill or knock my PV over. When that happens, I'm still in the phase where I'm just happy that the juice is the same color as when I loaded it.
Not that there isn't room for improvement in their design but your prototype looks to solve the issue of not having to keep the pv upright and stabilize the cup without strangling the wick. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
Well bad, I don't think they are amazing, but they do seem to be an improvement. Have you tried replacing the filler ring with a rubber mouthpiece? You have two choices. The old thick ones fit down over the cup far enough to touch the wick. The groove in the new ones is not as deep and does not touch the wick. If you try them, center the cup the best you can and the rubber will probably have enough give to center it enough to fit down over the cup.Wow br, that looks amazing. I get the concept totally and like the idea.
I opened up ten more and have had only 2 leak this time, the rest of the 8 are working pretty dam well.(808 xl)
obviously the good and the bad got mixed together but at least im finding good ones that arent leaking and have no primer but the inner plug looked moist.
