I'm luving this thread. You guyz do great work.
I'm running behind you guys. I've got my regular size 510 ceramics a week ago and have been messing with two of them. The first one I just filled and it's tasted like .... ever since. They
must stop putting that nasty primer in them. The second one, I burned it off with just the round, flat peice off. That helped some but it still wasn't great. Neither one wicked worth a damn and I have been just shooting juice to them with my Wetbox 510.
Today, after reading what you guys were up to, I took out another carto from the package and soaked it in very hot water and removed the refill cover over the cup afterward (next time I'll remove it before). I used banjoman's PTB mod using some old cart mod PTB peices. I cut them to about 3/8" long X 1/4" wide, pretty much what the cart filler was and thinned them to a few folds. That took some trials to get the right thickness.
I burned the thing off a lot. I must have done it 7 or 8 times for ten seconds at a time until I couldn't smell the primer any more. I filled the carto with 1ml juice which came up to the bottom of the slots on the cup as best as I could tell and stopped. I reinserted the flat washer, popped on my drip tip and started vaping.
It seems to wick properly now and the .... taste is gone.
Thanks for taking the time to go to all the trouble to find solutions for this. It's still by far the best carto out there right now. It just needs some tweaking by the mfg to make it good out the box.
