ive just dismantled my lavabox m few days back, it really is just the 2 long screws keeping it tgt. after removing the 2 long screw at the back of battery, u can actually grab the negative and positive "post" and pull outwards to take out the battery compartment, revealing the dna board. do remember to pull outwards gently as the cables connected to both post is kinda short. there is no hidden screw or clip holding it, just tightly fitted in there. i can post a few pics if anyone here need it.

That's good to hear. I don't need to disassemble mine, but I would have been a little annoyed if it was manufactured in such a way that it could not have been taken apart.

Awesome tip, thank you for this!

I was wondering if those plastic tabs at the top and bottom of the device were catching on the aluminum frame.

Pictures would be great for reference in the (hopefully) rare event anyone needs it. Really appreciate your input!

Hey that's great that yours came apart so easily. Mine, not so much.

Opened a ticket with Volcano. Great people there. Emailed me a return label in less 15min once I sent a copy of my receipt.
Received two emails. One said they would send a "New Device" if mine was found to be defective, the other said they would send a "Replacement Device. Either way no mention of repair. I would be happy either way.....I miss my little light weight heavy hitter.

After Vans' encouragement I tried to disassemble the Lavabox M again today.
Here are the pics:

EDIT: Notice how nicely the screen cable is bent back out-of-the-way of the fire button. Kudos to Volcano for avoiding a pitfall many other manufacturers slip-up on. AND the up/down buttons are physically swapped in that last pic.

Nice job. I noticed that the pos/neg leads from the batt sled are soldered to the board too (no screws). Nice. Gets me wondering what came loose on mine that caused intermittent batt contact. Maybe a cold solder joint.
Should have my warranty replacement tomorrow.

Well, I've been keeping my new Lavabox DNA75 at home, to keep it nice. Last night I knocked it off my end table and it fell 18 inches, hit the metal edge of the bottom shelf, put a dent in the plastic screen and chipped off a tiny piece of the red finish (anodizing?). It's not bad, but it still hacks me off. It didn't fall very far. -grumbles-

Got my "replacement" Lavabox 75m from Volcano today, exactly one week after I shipped mine out with the free return label they emailed to me. Great CS!!

My "replacement" is NIB. Awesome!

Just for fun I took out the two long screws and pulled the batt sled right out with no problem. Not sure what was up with my other one but it would not budge.

Thanks to everyone here for your input.

I had something weird that happened last night.

I have been running an RTA with a SS316L, 0.46 ohm, single coil on TC at 480F (35 watts, 60 watt preheat). It’s been working good and last night I took a hit and got lungs full of hot, burnt cotton. It was very hot and was showing “OFF” on the display. I let it cool and tried it again and it was working again (but the wick was burnt) The resistance didn’t change and it had plenty of juice in the tank. I build a new coil today and rewicked it and it seems to be working fine. I looked and didn’t see any error code the reads OFF. Any ideas why it did that?

If I remember correctly there is a way to manually turn OFF TC, the display will show "OFF". Since I never understood the purpose of it, since if I'm not in TC mode, I'm going to be in Power mode. I assume it's possible you device went into that OFF mode on its own, which would be an ISSUE, or perhaps you accidentally got into that mode with certain button presses and you didn't realize it. Again, I don't remember how to get into that TC OFF mode, hopefully you can find out in the Escribe forum.

I don't think that was what happened as it seemed to start working again after it cooled.

Well, that's the only time I've ever seen the word "OFF" in the display, and with TC off, it would probably been in power mode and depending on the wattage setting, could burn cotton. Anyways, good luck!
