Or you could just stop being so OCD.;) Or you could just add a sticker that says"x−"(−x−=+,+x−=−). Do you really look at the markings to tell which is which, after you've had the mod for a while?
Agreed, I never look at the +/- up/down markings. It becomes intuitive quick enough.

I am truly sorry my mental issues derailed cigatron's question about opening the lavabox m. I was only trying to express my interest in doing the same thing. I didn't mean to start a personal therapy session.

PS - If anyone knows how I can open the lavabox m for whatever purpose my heart desires I would appreciate help on how you did it.

@gratefulbuddy I'm sorry, I was just kidding around. I'm about as OCD as it gets. I deleted my comments and I hope you forgive me. To address your question, I have never taken my Lavabox apart, so I do not know. I'm truly sorry if I offended you.

No worries at all. I took what you said as light-hearted ribbing. I was just worried that I seem to have started a derail and that was the opposite of my intent.

Hi all quick post, I haven't had a chance to do any tests but how is everyone finding the battery life on the DNA75. Subjectively it feels like a battery eater?!:)

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
since battery life is VERY subjective on any given mod, i will give you my experience with one of my dna 75's. mon-fri i take my SMY DNA 75 with me to work. starting at 8 am (on average) i find i can make to around 2 pm vaping at 520F, 75w preheat, 75w to maintain, so basically i keep the pedal to metal and let the board regulate the wattage to maintain my set temp (anywhere from 50w-60w to maintain). this is running Sony VTC5A 18650's, i have 2 in rotation. when 2pm (give or take 30 min) comes and i get the flashing battery icon, i throw in the 2nd VTC5A to get me to 4pm.

Pushing it pretty hard. What are you using for a topper/coil?

No offense meant on my part either. Just fun'n and rib'n.

Interesting, I opened a trouble ticket with Evolve and their response was, "Check the ground screw". "Where's that", I replied. "Behind the battery sled", they said. "How do I remove the sled", I asked. "Just remove the two long screws", they said.

Yeah, WHATEVER!

You must remember that Evolv manufacturers the DNA boards and not the devices. The device maker should be the one to help you with device design and taking it apart but Evolv helps where they can. They gave you good information. A loose ground can cause issues and many have had to tighten them up so Evolv was helping you out even though you want to throw rocks at them....

Not getting into the middle of this.

Just wanted to add that one of the 4 Chinese SMY SDNA75 mods I own developed a weird auto fire issue, then screen lock issues. Wrote Evolv, they gave me an RMA, replaced the board and shipped it back to me the same day they got it. NO CHARGE!

Didn't ask me for any info. If and when this happens to my large assortment of non DNA Chinese mods, Eleaf, Kanger, Aspire, etc. etc. and all of those are beyond the short return policy of any USA vendor by now, I don't think dealing with Chinese based companies will have anywhere near the happy outcome that I and many have received from the US company, Evolv. DNA devices usually cost a bit more, but in many cases you don't have to throw them away when a board problem comes up.

Yeah, you're right. My post came across as blasting on Evolve but that was not my intent. It's the Lavabox 75m I'm "whatever-ing". It seems they've glued in or heat staked the batt sled and I hate mods that can't be disassembled without damaging them.
The tech support at Evolve is stellar. I was amazed that he knew about the two long screws at all.

My guess is that the cradle is still held in with the screws removed because it's a tight fit and had to be some what pressed into place by the installer.
Maybe. I've inspected the seams under 20x magnification and it appears to have been glued in. There is a shiny material in the seams in a few places.
I tried removing the sled by sticking a small jeweler's screwdriver into one of the 4 vent holes of the sled and pulling upward very hard. No luck. I also tried prying it up by wedging a tool under the plastic sled tabs that over hang the aluminum case. All I accomplished was to distort the plastic tabs.
So far all of the reports I've heard and read about warranty returns of 75m's to Volcano have resulted in warranty replacements, not repair. Perhaps they glued the sled in and never intended to perform warranty repair.

Very very few companies do warranty work nowadays specially on customer time. Evolv does because they are a board manufacturer and not a device manufacturer but they aren't going to repair a board they are just going to swap it after seeing an issue. I mean really when you think about it these are metal cases with an expensive board, a handful of wires, and a battery sled, sometimes not even that.

So it's just easier to ship out a replacement mod, have another team diagnose an issue and refurbish the device at that point. Generally it's a board swap and since we are talking DNA they can just send the board back and have Evolv ship them a replacement. Then when it is back up and running it becomes a replacement mod for the next failure that comes in.

True with some device manufacturers but the two peeps here at local b&ms and at least one person online said their replacements were "new". The two here said brand new in the original packaging. Can't remember if the one online said brand new.
Either way I'll send mine back to Volcano since I can't take it apart to perform what would be a seemingly simple fix.

ive just dismantled my lavabox m few days back, it really is just the 2 long screws keeping it tgt. after removing the 2 long screw at the back of battery, u can actually grab the negative and positive "post" and pull outwards to take out the battery compartment, revealing the dna board. do remember to pull outwards gently as the cables connected to both post is kinda short. there is no hidden screw or clip holding it, just tightly fitted in there. i can post a few pics if anyone here need it.
