I got it from Dave's review...but prolly would have figured it out eventually. To be honest, it was the one issue that was throwing me. Without that ring I'm not sure how it wouldn't leak, but I figured I'd McGuyver something for it. My first thought was poke a hole in a carto condom, but I'm glad it works with the silicone ring and a drip tip because I do tend to chew on them or walk around with them in my teeth.

One other thing I like about them is that they vape great until the last drop. I'd been using a clearomizer from another vendor, and had to refill about half way because it would just stop wicking with the thick VG juice that I use. The other bonus is that if I scorch the juice it's only for a few hits- with the clearo it would kill the whole tank.

For the past 3 days I have been trying out the vortex carts. Fresh out the pack these thing work great, taste great and got me really excited.
But they don't seem to hold up too well. I bought 10 and so far have used 3, each one now leaks and when I wake up they are surrounded by a pool of liquid. I also find they leak through to the battery and I am constantly having to dry the connections. The 2nd one rotates on the connection when I attach it to the battery making it difficult to take off.
The rubber tips are nice to use, but come off really easily if you try to carry them in your pocket. So I prefer to use my drip tip.
It's a real shame because I thought these were the answer to all my vaping woes. But it seems the search goes on. 8(
Certainly better than the ego tanks system though.

I have found what some others have found. Using a drip tip will cause mine to leak out the battery connector. If i don't use a drip tip, it does not leak. I have found I can use the black tip that comes with clearomizers fine without leaking, but the others not so well. I'm not sure why this is, perhaps there is too much pressure on the tube from the drip tip?

I know some have been able to use a drip tip, so perhaps it is just the ones I have to use that cause this.

as you insert your drip tip into the VORTEX while its fill, slowly place the drip on the vortex, as you start to press it to push it in, start titliting it upside down and finish the process of inserting the drip tip, this should alleviate any pressure caused, give a little blow to blow out any excess juice, wipe it off, screw it on and vape.

TRY TO AVOID FILLING AND INSERTING ANY TIPS TO THE VORTEX WHILE ATTACHED TO THE BATTERY

Hundreds of reviews have arrived and my friends I am happy to tell you we have a smash hit with the VORTEX, it is loved all around the world, from the U.S.A to Croatia to italy to france, protguel and denmark, UK and greece and korea, you name it and the response has been amazing .

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

I think the biggest thing when inserting a drip tip is to not cover the draw hole in the tip with your finger as you insert the tip. By covering the hole, you trap air in the tip. When you press the tip down, the volume of air trapped in the tip is forced into the tube. The volume of air that was in the tube has to go somewhere, as it is being displaced by the volume of air from the drip tip. The path of least resistance for the trapped air is out through the only other opening available to it, that is, the battery connector.

I also wonder if the reports about Vortexes leaking with a drip tip and not with the included tip has to do solely with the vacuum created inside the carto when both the top hole and bottom hole are relatively the same size. Changing the top hole size would disrupt that vacuum effect, allowing the force of gravity to be stronger than the force of the vacuum inside the tube.

Just thoughts of mine.

Some of my Vortex are finally leaking after about a week, and here's my theory on it.

1. The paper-wrapping (is that alf?) that is designed to seal the atty to the tube may dissolve or at least loosen up after interacting with the juice for a while. This may explain why some juices tend to cause more leaks than others.

2. When using mod-battery units AND chain-vaping, atty portion of Vortex may heat up and cause loosening of the alf-adhesive, possibly leading to leakage.

3. Frequent screwing on/off of Vortex (i.e. when vaping multiple juices with multiple Vortex), may also lead to loosening of alf.

4. When replacing the rubber-tip with drip-tip, if the draw-hole is not properly aligned to snug-in to drip-tip's hole, then you may end up applying too much pressure to draw-hole, and more importantly, to the atty portion. This may lead to alf becoming loose, possibly causing leakage.

These are only my observations after having used Vortex for over a week-period. We should all be aware that Vortex is designed to be disposable, so some of what I mentioned should not come as surprise. For the money, I think Vortex is a great product. It'll be even better with future enhancements.

a week before degridation leak wise, not bad at all, I Think we can get that resolved as well but thats not bad at all for a disposable product.

If this leak issue is resolved in future versions, then I think Vortex will be my only cartos. For me, I like to vape several different juices in a course of a day, so I currently have 8 Vortex loaded with different juices. The only problem is, I might have filled a Vortex only once, letting it sit there for several days. If the alf becomes unglued and leaks, then I'm not getting much usage out of that unit. I guess this type of situation varies from user to user.

Something interesting I discovered today about Vortex and the various tips used. In fear of the rubber-tip slipping off, I had replaced it with the plastic/rubber tips from used cartos I had lying around. They seem to fit Vortex perfectly and tight, so no worries about spilling the juice. However, I just tried the original rubber-tip on one of my Vortex and I get very different draws. For some reason, with the original Rubber-Tip, I get much more flavor and vapor production. I think is has to do with how well it fits the draw-hole. Drip-tip is also pretty good, but those tips I scavenged off of used cartos don't perform as well. Thought some of you might be interested in this info.

For the time being, I'm finding that a small piece of tape can be helpful in adding some grip to the mouthpiece.

I've used a piece cut from an adhesive file folder label and a piece of electrical tape. Cutting the tape to about 3/32" wide and about 1/4" long improves the hold. The adhesive label paper, being a little thinner, maybe a little longer.

It may be necessary to wipe juice off the mouthpiece before attempting to apply. They don't really stick firmly to the slick plastic of the mouthpiece, just enough to hold them in place while inserting it into the tube. Insertion requires angling the mouthpiece in while rotating it into position. Place the area with the tape against and just inside the tube and work it in while rotating back and forth. After having done it a couple of times, it doesn't take much effort. It seems the tape/adhesive paper needs to be redone with each filling.

This doesn't seem to have brought on any leaking. I'm not having mouthpieces come lose when doing this. Your experience may vary.

IMO the biggest issue with the tip is not that is is really loose but that if there is just the littlest bit of juice on either the tip or the tube it gets really slick. If I work really hard to clean off the tip and the inside of the tube before inserting they stay on and grip fairly good "not as good as other tips but definitely better". Just the tiniest bit of juice makes the silicone extremely slippery and the only fix would be to use a different material which would probably compromise the feel of the tip that many seem to like. I am thinking about trying to incorporate an O ring on the tip to get it to grip but I will have to find one with a small enough cross section as not to collapse the mouth piece to much and cause other issues.

Does anybody know of a glue that would work to stick rubber and silicone together and not cause issues with juice???

A week into using the same three I started with and I still don't have any leaking. One of them has been refilled at least twenty times. What's going on here GotVapes? How dare you sell me a product that works this well for me. I have not used any other cart or carto for a week now and I had to move my empty cartos away from my juice bottles because I think they were trying to fill themselves during the night so I would be forced to use one of them instead of a Vortex.

lol...glad they are working good for you...in my experience with them they are also very judicious with juice...how's that been for you?

Yes I've noticed I'm not using as much juice as I was. Especially in comparison to the ego-t. It also seems that the taste of my juice has actually improved, even after a week of usage.
