When I said it was busy in the park today, I wasn't kidding. Nearly doubled yesterday's sales and yesterday, I had help. Today, I was solo.

@DingerCPA well wishes forthcoming. My mother went through breast cancer, my father died from small cell lung cancer, my father-in-law survived bladder cancer, and my mother-in-law survived a cancer, too. I feel for you and yours...

@angelphyre stand your ground! You're already doing more than a lot would. Looooong ranting story here and maybe someday, I'll share, regarding kids and moving back home...
latest

And not one person took a stab at the movie I was referencing this morning... jeez...

Count, it's just the kids b'day today, although I AM the one who went through all that pain to have them, so maybe I should be the one getting presents! :p:lol:...As for the babysitting, it just irritated me that they thought it was appropriate to call me and expect me to come home when there are 2 other sets of grandparents there that they could ask, but did they even think of that?! NOOOOOOOOOOO! ...Have fun surfing, but keep an eye out for those hammerheads!

Dinger, will definitely keep them in my prayers and hold good thoughts for them all!

Tiggs, I do remember that about your mom going to Alabama...I always said she had to have been a terrific woman...she raised a wonderful son and went to the best school! :D

9/6 - 6: With all the abuse we went under, my Mom said once "I am so glad you never sold drugs, or did other bad things." SMH why did she leave me?

Good night all, time to slumber.

Now that all the evening "stuff" is over and I pop back in here to see what's going on, I wonder why there have been so few posts today. Then WANG! upside the head! OK, three-day weekend and most people went somewhere or at least picnic'd with friends or family. Oh well...

10 late fall and we found a livestock loader.jpg

Late fall and the ocean is far behind. Four-wheelin' up old fire roads and way up in the mountains, in the middle of national forest land, I find a livestock loader. What do you suppose that thing is doing way out here where no livestock are within 20-30 miles of this place? It doesn't look old enough to be homestead era. Yet it clearly is strategically placed at a wide spot in the trail, almost as if it were still in use. People do occasionally ride horses up here, but my trailer (which is a typical 3-horse slant) doesn't need a ramp. Take a picture... scratch your head... get on down the trail.

Thanks Uncle, Robin and Shawn...you know it's funny, but my kids always call me first every time something happens...even when it's something they know I can do nothing about...especially car related problems...my favorite was when the twins took a cross country road trip to California after high school graduation and called me one morning from San Diego(too bad I wasn't on here then, I could have hit Count up for help :p) to tell me the car was on fire:shock:...I had to actually tell them to get off the dang phone with me and call 911!...And of course my bf and I ended up having to take care of things from here, like getting them a hotel room (on 4th of July at the last minute...yeah that was near impossible) and find someone to take care of the car, and arrange flights back home for them. That was a nightmare that the boys ended up taking almost a year to pay me back for! (Almost took a year before I was willing to speak to them again too!)

Tiggs, (((hugs))) for you darlin'!

Shawn, I would have guessed on the movie, but to be honest, my brain is not working at all today so I have no idea!

I worked in the hotel/motel business during that year I was running around the western U.S. and all you have to do is state that it is an emergency and you can get a room almost anywhere (unless the clerk is a jerk). All motels/hotels hold aside one or two rooms for just such purposes. No one is ever "totally sold out."

Ever managed to be this close to the end of a rainbow? It ends at that mud puddle right in front of the camera. And no, no leprechauns left a pot of gold for me (drat!).

I took some extra pain meds and when that hit my system I was able to take a bit of a nap, so I am doing a bit better.
The thing with pain is, it can easily interfere with getting any restful sleep....so I'm glad you were able to nap...rejuvenate...heal.

@DingerCPA count me in :nun:

@angelphyre happy birthday to your sons...and a happy Mother's day to you;)

One last post before I wrap this up for the day and call it a night. (sometimes that sounds so silly) G'nite TreeFam!

12 this one bedded down 10-ft from our porch.jpg

This young fellow, still in velvet, spent the night only 10 feet from my front deck and didn't have any fear of me taking his picture just after sunrise. He decided it was time to leave, however, when the girls wandered into the yard... Probably looking for him (below).

The hammerhead thing isn't only there Count. There have been more than the usual number of sightings on this side of the world. There has been stuff on the news showing them up around mainland and a couple of the southern islands. Haven't heard anything about right here though.

The "monster surf" the news has been braying about turned out to be 2-4 feet with occasional 5-foot sets. But it was still good to get out in the water again. A good surf session until past sunset, a stop for some good hole-in-the-wall Mexican, and then home to a shower an plopping on the couch. Ahhh!

Count - A second for pics, but not with sharks! ;)
Sorry, guys. I leave everything but my car key in the car when I go out... so no pics. I do have water in my left ear, though.... oh, and both legs and arms (I lost my head ages ago, so don't ask).

ETA: @Mac, LOL. I ordered the six I was missing on Thursday.

Good night, Treefam!

But.... here's a picture of what I do, taken at the break where we went (although the waves were about half this height).

Oh, and here's another view of that beach on a calmer day (this one with a few trees :))
