Good morning/afternoon/evening/night TreeFam! The temperature is significantly lower today, so I likely will be spending the day outside with the chainsaw making firewood out of the dead and broken trees here. Figure I can throw in one (maybe even two) pix before I have to get off my aching buns and go do some work (which, in itself, is always a pain, but it has to be done by someone).

This crack in the rocks is at the coast (Orygun of course) and when the tide is just right, produces some awesome sprays. They call it The Devil's Churn.
(OK, so it's a dead tree, and maybe I should have brought along the chainsaw...) ;)

I was so glad I got to watch the game while we were grilling last night!! even more glad to have another bama fan here!!
Not just a Bama fan...I'm a Bama girl born and raised! Grew up on a farm between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham...still have family there I visit every year. My 3 nieces all go to Alabama too (feel sorry for their parents for the tuition bill though! :p)

OK, gotta go outside and do some work now. Maybe see y'all when I take a break later. Hogs & Quiches...

Look! Orygun does have sandy beaches! That water to the right is actually a lake, barely separated from the Pacific Ocean and that pointy-outty bit on the horizon is called Cape Lookout (viewed from the south side).

Count -

Get folks to help out! Meanwhile, maybe a soak in a tub with epsom salt would help. I hopeyou feel better soon. Good vibes being sent.

Have a great day, everyone!

lol.. whats wrong no tub of epsom salts will help - but thank you so much. I took some extra pain meds and when that hit my system I was able to take a bit of a nap, so I am doing a bit better. Got dinner started and all is well. :)

I am stubborn and hard headed, so most people just wait until I am laid up... my husband tries to keep me slowed down enough so that I don't need to go to the ER for IV dilauded.. tries is sometimes a key word. He and my doctor have lots in common.. lol..

But I am feeling better, and I am just making cowboy beans for dinner with some salad. I will let them clean up after dinner.. :)

Thanks @angelphyre and everyone else for the healing energy and positive thoughts.. it helped! :)

PS. For anyone who wants the cowboy bean recipe:

2 lbs. ground beef
I medium onion
1 green pepper
4 cans various beans (kidney, pinto, pork and beans and great northern beans)
1 bottle barbeque sauce (whatever your favorite kind is)

fry the ground beef, cut up onion, and cut up pepper together in a fry pan, then drain grease. Put into crock pot with all the other ingredients, cook til beans are done.

So my oldest son just calls me to find out if I'm coming home tonight. I told him no because it's a holiday tomorrow. Turns out he just wanted me to come home early so I can babysit tomorrow evening. I told him he'd have to find someone else. Maybe I'm a bad grandma, but since when did it become my responsibility to have to cover for them.:?: I told them when they moved in with me that I wasn't changing my lifestyle for them. That if I was available and they needed help I would do it if I felt up to it. Well I'm not available tomorrow and I'll be darned if I'm going to let them guilt me into it...I work hard too and deserve my time to myself...like my bf's mom said, I'm not the one that got her pregnant! :glare:

Ok, rant over....Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Whoooooo-doggie. It is STEAMY outside. Weeds pulled (well mostly), back yard cut (after cussing out the mower because it didn't want to start/stay running :sneaky:) Sat for an hour and then moved wood from the "back 40" closer to the firepit. This chica is WORN OUT.

Sitting in front of a fan and contemplating some sort of "Mommy Beverage" before I go to play with fire

:bday: Angel! (Or is it just the kids?) In any case, do what YOU want to do--if you're willing to babysit then fine, otherwise there should be no expectations unless it's an emergency.

Speaking of emergencies, time for me to think about getting ready to go surfing for the first time in far too long. I even had to hose down my wetsuit to make sure all of the creepy crawlies were out...

Just want to ask my TreeFam for prayers for some friends of mine. Year or so ago, my friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. She also tested positive for BRCA. Double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery - she's doing pretty well these days. However, her husband was just diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. They're awaiting some additional test results and potentially six months of chemo treatments. They have two high school-aged children (who really shouldn't have to go through this *AGAIN*....) My friend's mother is my neighbor, and *SHE* is having some neck surgery on Tuesday.

I believe in the power of prayer - any of you who also do, please join me and lift up my friends.... Thanks :)

@tiggerrts - Thank you sweetheart. I'm sorry that your Mom had to suffer as she did. Never seems fair, does it?

Jodi (breast cancer), Andrew (leukemia), Emily and Jacob (the kids - for strength to get through this current phase of their parents' health issues,) and Julia (Mom - neck surgery) I just pray God's peace and healing touch on them all....

I lost my uncle to lung cancer a couple of years ago. It's an evil, evil beast. My cousin (his daughter) had leukemia as a child. She has survived, but her body was torn up by the chemo and radiation.

Count, it's just the kids b'day today, although I AM the one who went through all that pain to have them, so maybe I should be the one getting presents! :p:lol:...As for the babysitting, it just irritated me that they thought it was appropriate to call me and expect me to come home when there are 2 other sets of grandparents there that they could ask, but did they even think of that?! NOOOOOOOOOOO! ...Have fun surfing, but keep an eye out for those hammerheads!

Dinger, will definitely keep them in my prayers and hold good thoughts for them all!

Tiggs, I do remember that about your mom going to Alabama...I always said she had to have been a terrific woman...she raised a wonderful son and went to the best school! :D

More or less got the chores done, but not the log cutting. I did manage to sharpen the chains on three chainsaws and make a redwood mod holder for my sister who has just ordered her first vape kit. I plan to drag her to this forum and get her to leave the stinkies behind forever.

Cape Lookout from the north side. This picture got published back in 1979. It looks much better as an 8x10.
