I feel for ya @Mandikay I don't get migraines often, but when I do they are horrible. I hope you can find some relief.

Fireworks quickly ensued! She thought I was calling her a horse, why would I want to beat her..... of course I'm trying to explain what it meant, but I'm chuckling at the same time, which just made her even more mad  It took a little while, but she calmed down and kinda got it was just an expression, but she didn't like that expression at all.
 Sounds like a scene from the 1986 film "Better Off Dead"...

Busy day - my daughter graduates from high school tonight!
Congratulations, @Zipslack! I, too, will begin graduation activities for my daughter, leading up to that fateful day in June. Of course, my daughter is only graduating from elementary school...

I hope you feel better, @Mandikay. I don't have much experience with migraines, but they sound horrible.

Thanks everyone. One of the other girls in the office had some Excedrin migraine.. Just took that.. Hopefully it will work.. Only about 2 and a half hours to go.. And then I'm going straight home to lay down and close my eyes. I know I'm feeling bad when I don't want to stop at the vape shop on a Friday.. I usually go every week

Our conversations were kinda funny at times. I don't have too heavy of a Texas accent, but it does come out at certain times or certain words. Once, I told her I needed to check the oil in the car, except when I say oil it sounds like "ol". So, she asks "What 'old' car?", so of course, now I ask about what old car she's talking about. It turns into an Abbott and Costello routine.

Kinda of a regionialism around here is using the word "Coke" to mean any kind of soda. It's not unusual to have someone at restaurant to ask what kinda "Coke" you want, that threw her a while. The funniest was at some burger place and the girl taking our order asked if she wanted a "Coke" and my GF ordered a Coca-Cola. The girl apologized and said they only had Pepsi. The look on my GF's face was priceless!:lol:

I remember some conversations like that when I had some friends from Texas.......I didn't know what "ol" was it sounded to me like "all" ......and then there's the Coke thing......and what about tea.....for iced tea......why would you want hot tea on 100* day?

Let us not forget "tar" for those four rubber things your car rolls around on. :D Having driven through 30 of our states, I have found colloquialisms everywhere that defy understanding even only one state away. And "you" (in the North, as a hasty generalization, both singular and plural) is "y'all" down South for singular and "all y'all" for plural. But when I lived in England, their shires are about the same area as our counties and their use of the language can be nearly unintelligible from one shire to the next.

Welcome to ECF @Jason2002 Check out this neat contest thread where you can win some really good e-liquid just by chatting with the great folks who hang out here (see complete "rules" on page 1). Lots of fun here! Nicest people on the forum and you just might learn a thing or twelve... :)

I know something about that also.....I had some relatives that came to visit from Scotland when I was young and I remember having to ask them what they said so many times....I couldn't understand them.....it sounded like gibberish,,,,,,like they were making up words.......I get it now....but to a child's ears it was strange..........
Mandikay I hope you feel better.....I can understand the pain all too well........I always keep some Belladonna 30x with me for just such things..........

A fine example. I thought that was restricted to Nu Yawk un Joisey though. But is that what you meant by "Yankee"? I was brought up in Orygun and, way back when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth (read as: when I was a child), we learned to speak by dictionary and with no noticeable inflections (accent). I can't say it is still that way because I escaped there 12 years ago, before text-speak, Facebook, and total .......ization of our language. I hear the place has been totally Californicated now, so who knows how they speak today...

Californicated has spread all the way up here.....so I would say yes.........the best thing about Orygun is that they still pump your gas for you......................

Good morning, all! Just checking in before I actually have to start working (while, coincidentally, waiting for the coffee finish brewing).

I recognize that picture...on Hwy 90 right?...I drive by it quite often...they really did a good job with several of those after Katrina.

Got some Vape gear gifted to me today. A friend of mine gave me his subvod kit. Smaller than what I'm used to, but I think it will be a great on the go Vape.
I love my Subvod...I like the tiny size...it's great for taking out and about on a quick trip.

Good (late) morning! Doing last-minute prep and cleanup before I close down for the summer break, but remembered I should drop in and get a post in. Busy day - my daughter graduates from high school tonight!
Congrats to your daughter! Seems like just yesterday my youngest two were graduating...that was 3 years ago!

@Mandikay hope your migraine goes away soon...sending healing vibes for you.

2. So yesterday turned out to be not so great a day...not only was work super busy again and having to deal with cranky clients is getting to be the norm :glare:, but when I went to leave work, my car decided it didn't want to go. :-x...Had to call my stepson and get him to come all the way there...turned out to just be a vacuum hose that had split and come loose, but he didn't have what he needed to fix it properly, so he rigged it up good enough to get it back home and then I had to wait on him to go get what he needed and come over to fix it...ended up not getting here to the bf's until after 10!...which meant I had to delay my big drink until then as well, which put me up past my bedtime for a Thursday night! :p:laugh:

Yep, a chainsaw artist from Florida (I think) came and carved all the broken tree trunks along Hwy 90. It's too bad that some of them are rotting away now.
