Does most of you with the X upgrade to the GP PAPS X Top Cap version 1.5? How does it compare to the standard one that comes with it?

The difference between the GP Paps X v1 top cap and the v1.5 top cap is basically silver plated telescoping pins vs the GPin (the v1 top cap came with spare brass pins too). Some people disliked the v1 top cap because they found it hard to get their fingers in to adjust the pins, whereas that's not an issue with the double pogo GPin (which is not compatible with the v1 top cap). I'm actually glad that I have both as it gives me options.

So, I think Im getting real close to taking the plunge into the world of GP. Im working on something right now and if it works out Im hoping that on the next VapourArt , Vapour Day? I will be able to place an order. If things work out I will no longer be a stressed out lurker and get to experience it first hand.

So as far as maintenance, how much and how often do I need to clean contacts etc? Im getting real tired of "high maintenance" and "fiddling" I just want press the amazing button which is GP and enjoy and relax.

girl...there is hardly no maintenance!! it's not like the hundreds of pieces you are used to dealing with and the GP quality and threading????? yeah...doesn't get better than this! I take a qtip to the contacts for any juice that might drip or make condensation ... that is general...
Literally, my mods are cleaned about 1x month but keep in mind that I don't get them "dirty" except hand oils and what not.
It is NOTHING like you are used to.

Nice picture. I really like the holder, I'm a wood person. But I don't have a place to put it let alone for one to hold more mods. I don't display my gear anyway, but really would like to find a soft lined case of some sort for some of my mods that will protect them when not in use. Same with the toppers, and a better way to store spare tubes, parts, etc. I still have lots of exhibition grade woods, but not the space to set them up anymore (my Corvette takes up that shop space now). Building something is not an easy option anymore anyway with the issues.

maybe customize the foam to form fit?

The only question is which one? I like the v3 over the X. It's button is so simple.

Pelican 1150 Case | PelicanCasesForLess.com

Thanks for the suggestion. I've owned several Pelican cases and others similar for a couple of my other passions, and way back when I still worked many of them were used daily. But without a hot wire cutter modding the foam is a just get by with at best. I had one years ago, and it's not that hard to make one. But I'm more in the let others do the work stage of my life. :)

For the GP Family.

I was thinking more like we all get on the bench and help him get one. ;)

My 2 X's and 3 V3's rule over my single 2.1 and Piccolo. Everything about the X PAPS is amazing in my eyes. While I have a lot of nice toppers that would be right at home on them the 2 Heron's have won me over already. The V3's are a close second, but I also like the 2.1 and Piccolo just fine.
