I find whistling occurs from a burr in the air inlets. Take a look inside the base and see if there isn't a small burr hanging around the holes. You might be able to remedy this very quickly.
...Now, a couple of gripes (first world problems, really) I haven't been able to solve:
a) no matter how I build the Heron (I have tried most of the builds suggested on the thread, currently using the flat kanthal "tape" wire supplied with the atty pack with a cotton build) on the draw I have a slight whistling noise. Nothing too serious, but is anybody else experiencing it? I have installed the new bell. I have experienced with the AFC and it doesn't seem to make a difference (except for tightening up the draw of course). It's not terrible, but maybe there is a fix?
b) There is a tiny gap between the tank cover and the atomizer base, see picture. Again, it is small, and I await being shouted at for OCD issues. If I squish the top down, then it closes, but it pops up again to form the small gap. Any ideas, do I need to wait for the Orings to settle more?
c) Not for the family, but for King P: Looking at the rest of the thread, I think I should at least have had one longer GPin top. (I had two of the same length with my order of Paps3 and Heron). In hybrid mode it's no problem to make contact with AW18490s, but in 510 Mode I have some rattle. I guess I could add one in the comments for my next order?...
Thanks for all the advice!
- I have experimented with raising and lowering the coil - no avail. In fact, the whistle is present without a build, and by just blowing into the air intake from the outside. It only occurs when the delrin part of the GPin is in place, of course
- There are no small burrs or similar in the path
Re the gap: Yes, I only noticed it since I got the new bell - so this seems to be ever so slightly longer on the inside. No problem, I have enough builds I can make on it "sans" cotton cap.
Guess I'll live with the whistle - maybe I can come up with some lyrics to go with the song

It should be here tomorrow. Sadly I just have 30g wire right now because Canada Customs has had my 28 and 26 for a week now and it probably won't be here on the same day as the Quasar.
As for the gap, if you are saying that the gap is closed when applying force, and then riding back up, to me that sounds like an o-ring issue. Have you tried pushing down and then twisting back and forth? That will usually get the cap to stay in place for me. Hope that helps.![]()
No Koh Gen Do for me todayOh well spheroids are ready when it arrives. It has shipped so sure it will be sometime this week. I had to laugh the place I ordered from is now taking pre-orders for it expecting stock 5/26/14 and the one other place I saw with them in stock on Amazon are now charging $19 instead of $12 for 60 pad box. Didn't take long once we all started ordering..

Oh, and don't put o-rings in it. The cavitation wreaks havoc on those. I have a couple of EVOD's that I use for of in the yard. The colored ones aren't colored after the UC. Coating came right off.
You'd better hurry before they realize how popular they have become and raise the prices on you![]()
Dear GP family,
I have had my Heron for a while now and I am very very happy with it. I have it as my go-to atty together with the Paps 3 - a lovely combination.

a) With one of my Herons I have the same whistling too. And as Nach suggested, I tried to 'see' if there were any burrs, Ah couldn't spot any.
b) Again, with my new Heron I have the same 'gap' between the tank section and the base (or the Bell Cap, if I press it down). Apparently, my Chamber Lid seems to be out of specs on this one (only this one) and thus, when the Chimney makes contact with it ~ it develops that 'gap'. Without the Chamber Lid all is hunky-dory.
Not a deal breaker tho, b'coz now I'm running all my Herons sans the Chamber Lid, with 'looped' cotton ball wicks. And they don't sag.
