Thanks for the idea Yankee... can try. Cold instead of heat. With the other I found corrosion came to mind.

The jar sheets I have are highly textured rubber, do not damage and do not slip... it's just so tight it won't budge even with them.

EDIT:
Put my eyes on and found that the positive pole is staked from the bottom... the one I'd take out because of the insulator. But without going to my storage facility and digging for tools I haven't used for years, have no idea where they are I'm wondering if the insulator can take either cold or heat and if so which one.

Not sure if I'm answering your question but you will not hurt the insulator with either freezer or boiling water temperatures. =)

Thanks for the info. 30 minutes in the freezer did nothing to help. When it warms back up to room temp I'll break out the UC and run it without the heater for starters. Maybe it can shake something loose if it is corrosion (I can't see any though). Otherwise I guess it's over to storage to find my penetrating oil when I get around to it one day. If that don't work the big tools are next.

Need some advise as a Heron noob on the used one I just got... a fairly early one I'd guess by the serial number. It only had traces of liquid on the deck, but the the GPin base on the inside under the deck where it's base rides on the positive pole had hard corrosion on it. That cleaned up with ISO, elbow grease with an eraser.

For want of a better name for it... I can't get the tank ring to unscrew off the deck, it's frozen solid. Maybe also corroded? Tried a couple of those tight jar lid rubber sheets to get a better purchase on it, but it still won't budge. I could try removing the o-rings, poles, insulator and put in my UC (that also has a heater) and run if for however many minutes to see if that loosens things up. Anyone have any better ideas?

Thanks.

(not pics of mine obviously)

The corrosion is different from oxidisation and neither of them has happened to the stack deck ring, it is simply turned too tight. With a rubber band it can loosen easily.

The oxidation builds up, corrosion takes away and if you notice the positive post closely, it makes a circular dent to the soft brass GPin base which then might show oxidisation signs. It is quite normal for the brass and if you rub it with a scotch brite it will become shiny again.

I want to get one of the new SnP V2s, but am unsure which one to get to make sure my old Provari ring will fit...anybody know?

The GP SnP full set has the long covers you mentioned in your pm and works with the GP Pro Ring.

I replied to your pm as well :)

The reason we don't sell covers separately is that we have no way to know where the threading starts every time to ensure a proper sealing. It is mentioned in the description of the product too. http://www.vapourart.com/en/product/gp-salt-pepper-tank-snp-version-2

I am in the rubber band camp as, I use my medical gloves for polishing and for medical procedures on my wounds that I am clearly not licensed for
The only thing that I have to add - When you rinse the deck, GPin and ring off in the future, remove the GPin and dry the inside where the nut is and serial # completely. I made this mistake and ended up having to polish my nut  and brass connector.

This is how I learned. But, was very simple to remedy. I now break down all parts and dry.

Hey P, the above post had me thinking if I ordered the right replacement quartz tanks on vapour day? The ones I ordered will fit my older SnP tank, correct? I have broken way too many in the past!!

I'm curious as well....will the tanks for my V1 SnP fit the V2??

Thank you for your input Perseas... always appreciated. I value Yakee's opinions too, so dug around in my desk and found a couple of new .250" rubber bands. A wrap around each piece with them and I did get them apart. There was dried crud in the threads, but it all cleaned up easily with a toothbrush. Thanks everyone.

Yet today I'll be doing a few different coil builds for it to try it without fluff and just an organic cotton wick poking out. Have all kinds of silica and mesh as well I could use, but now days I mostly use cotton. That reminds me the KGD I ordered 10 days ago I still have not got a shipping notification for or received.

Posted on another Vape Forum, I had to pass this off for my love for Jimi Hendrix. Like Jimi or not, this is not short of awesome.

As a lead guitar player in bands from the late 50's he is a favorite of mine also. I met Hendrix, Joplin, The Who, TM&P and others at Monterey Pop 1967, and went to many of their concerts during the Summer of Love '67 in San Francisco.

This is for you buddy in case you've never seen it before. Luna Lee has done other songs by Hendrix as well.
