I smoked 2 packs on Sunday, 2 packs on Monday, 2 cigs on Tuesday , and 1 cig on Wednesday. (Received my ecig Monday early evening.) This morning (Thursday) I stashed away all the analogs and the lighters. I've always been pretty good at quitting but as I've told others "quitting is easy; I've done it around 10 times in my life." One of those times I stayed off cigs for over a year. But mostly I was back at it soon after adding 30 lbs to my normal 120 lb weight. I'm hoping that the ecig will satisfy my hand to mouth habit and keep me away from hand to mouth food.

I switched to vaping in March. Like many, I like to think of it as 'switching brands' instead of quitting. I LIKE vaping or smoking or whatever, so I don't ever plan to quit. I don't even plan to reduce the nic mg. After all, nicotine is no worse for you than coffee and I don't plan to quit that either.

However, I have used 18mg and 26mg and I can't really tell the difference so I just order whatever they have in the flavors I like. For me, the key is to not stress myself out about it too much.

I went camping in July and all my batteries had died by the end, so I smoked cigarettes for the last two days of the trip. It gave me such a headache! That really sealed the deal for me. Somehow, I've been curious since I started. I kept asking myself if I was vaping because I HAD to or because it really satisfied me. I always felt like vaping is like 'making out' when you really want to do the nasty! But, having smoked those cigarettes while camping proved it for me; it's like drinking water when you're thirsty instead of beer - it's like a really clean tasting cigarette, it feels totally natural for me now. And totally satisfying.

I'll never go back to cigarettes now. And I'll probably never quit vaping, I like it.

I started vaping to completely QUIT smoking and completely stop consuming nicotine.
At this point I have reduced analogs from 20 to 6 per day.

For some reason, when I just think about this one being my last real cigarette, my mind/body go nuts. I start feeling physical discomfort and need lots of nicotine. In fact I'm fulling myself with excuses like "don't feel like going outside - that's why better to vape" etc.

Anyway, sooner or later I will completely switch to ecigs. Than, I'm planning to reduce nicotine to 0 and than, hopefully, completely quit vaping.

It may be complicated, because vaping itself seems to be attractive.

Has anyone quit smoking and viping?

My name is Bob and I am 65 years old, have been smoking since I was 16. I ordered my ecigs last Thurs. and received them Sat. Have not had a real cig. since. They are a little hard to get used to but they will stop the cravings for a real cig. I ordered mine fr4om Vicki at cignot.com After my order I emailed her for suggestions on what to order and she recomended several items. They have worked excellent for me . I believe in this so much that I am thinking of hooking up with a company and selling them myself, just to help those who would like to quit.

Quit the first day. Urge to smoke lingered for a month. 70+ days for me now and don't even think about smoking anymore.

Its going to be different for each individual but I also think its relevant to state how long one had been smoking and how much you smoked within the last 6-12 months before vapin to help guage end results.

I smoked around 26 years, was buying 3 packs a week, some days smoked only a few, other days up to half a pack. Most of my heavy smoking was at work.

I quit smoking on the first day ... I've worked my way down from 24mg of nicotine to 6mg of nicotine... Hopefully, I'll be at 0mg before xmas and just vape zero nic juice the rest of my life

I quit as of 6/1/10 after 35 years of smoking and giving up on ever being able to quit because I enjoyed smokeing so much. After I got everything figured out with the PV and making sure I always had fresh batts and juice, I never picked up another analog since. At this point in time, I dont intend to quit vaping. Now I can smoke without it killing me. SOOOOOOO much better!

I happened to quit and I honestly didnt mean to.
Ive been smoking about 13 yrs, starting with cloves, and ending with marlboro light 100s.
After about a week of using the PV, my analogs started tasting awful.
I think its the fire safe chemicals, they really hurt my throat also.
Ive been vaping for about 5 wks, and analog free for just over 4 wks.
If I get a nic fit, I dip into a 24 or 30m juice, which is normally Ry4, so very strong flavor.
Getting a good flavor really helped, and I got lucky I had everyone here to tell me to go to FSUSA.
Without them, I dont think I would have quit. I would probably still be using the crap from china that came with my cig.
I love my PV and I may quit it one day, but I dont intend on it.

I quit analogs on 07/22/10 after a 35 year pack a day habit. The ease of moving to the PV has been simply amazing. I will retire the PV one day but am really having a lot of fun with it right now. My wife kicked a 37 year addiction three weeks after i did. The only problem i have is finding the right juice for me. There's too much to choose from out there.(LOL)

ok, I smoked about 3/4 to a pack a day for about 25 years.

I smoked 2/3 packs in last 18 years... The funny thing, didn't intend to quit smoke and it was surprisingly easy to quit. Don't ask me how, maybe it was 18mg juices, maybe after vaping, a cigarette overload me, don't know. And I'm happy about it. Really.

I tried a cigarette later, and it was a very dirty experience... can't stand it now.

The trick is to not think about it.

One thing I did that helped alot was to think of it like this.

"I'm not quitting, I don't want to quit. I'm just switching brands. And my new brand is cheaper, tastes better and doesn't cause cancer."

LOVE this!! I just started vaping and have been stressing about having 3 analogs. I've gotten some great support on this forum about it, and reading this helps so much, as well!! Thanks! :)

from what I have read, most are able to quit the smokes but few seem to be able to stop vaping completely. It would be great to have some real numbers tho.
Yes, it would be nice to have some real numbers on how many have quit vaping.
But I doubt you'll be able to get that here.

Most of those who have quit vaping probably don't even come here anymore.

But there are many, like me, who never intend to quit vaping.
And I mean ever.

I mean, seriously, why should I quit vaping?
