Has anyone had ego/tornado battery problems?

I got my Tornado in April and for the most part it is great. One of the batteries isn't up to snuff though. It doesn't hold a charge worth a damn- it is weak and lasts all of 2hrs. The other works like a dream and I have since bought a mega battery. Gotta say the mega lasts forever. Sounds like Janty/TW have some growing pains with the new model and I have faith the bugs will be worked out soon.

This is a copy and paste from elsewhere, but...

I got an eGo a couple of months ago, used the first battery a little and then switched out for the second just to make sure it was good. I'm thinking I put the first one on the charger before I put it in the case. I haven't really even used either completely until a couple of nights ago. I put the dead battery on the charger and grabbed the other one. Dead (I thought). Hmmm. Charge it. No good. Long story short, it reads basically the same voltage as the good battery when measuring it using a couple of wires connected to 901 threads and then connected to a 510-901 adapter (just what I have handy), but if you try an atty and screw the atty all the way down, the battery light doesn't come on. If you unscrew the atty some, the battery light works but doesn't fire the atty. I've only tried one 510 atty and a couple of 510 cartos so far, though. What's up, shorting somewhere?

Two weeks plus a day, battery won't charge. Light on quick charger stays green with battery screwed in. I'm also able to activate the button while it's on the charger, which doesn't happen when my good battery is screwed on. When I take the bad battery off, it flashes and then doesn't work. Also a burnt electronic smell from the top of the battery. The reason I came upon this thread is because of my bad battery issue. Someone not having battery issues would not not normally come across this. There is some circuitry inside near the top. Seams strange that there is a hole in the atty that drains directly on the battery connection. Thats why we clean that connection. Might the fluid sometimes go through that hole and end up inside the battery if it were not sealed properly. If I can smell burning circuits, it has to be getting out from somewhere. Oh, just checked, the smell is coming from around the switch (sense of smell must be getting better now that I don't smoke, lol) . The battery connection probably shouldn't have a direct route for juice to get in. So whatever happened to my battery could either be the switch, protection circuit, wiring, or even the battery itself. It's from a reputable Canadian supplier so I shouldn't have too much trouble getting a replacement. I have the hard plastic button. I heard there are soft rubber buttons on some of the ego,tornados/riva. I wonder if there is a difference in quality between the rubber and plastic style buttons, besides the button. I heard the rubber button is preferred. Anyhow, one more bad battery for the OP's thread :(

I've got one of the prematurely dead eGos. I used it for about three weeks, rotating it with the other battery that came in the set, with even less use when I tossed a RiVa into the rotation. It died, went onto the charger (USB/AC adapter one) okay, did it's thing (light started out red, eventually turned green), took it off and it worked an hour. Didn't even think about it at the time (thought it was the other battery until I realized what flavor had been in it). Screwed it back into the charger....the LED started blinking until I unscrewed it. Screwed it back in, the light on the charger is green, nothing on the battery. Then I tried just using the USB fast charger via the laptop, battery light blinks about 2/3 through screwing it on while the charger light stays green. If I leave it in that position, it just continued to periodically blink for a while as the charger button still does not change, although even that quit after about five minutes. I tried it on my RiVa USB charger at that point and it did the same thing.

I'm afraid to plug my other eGo battery in for fear of what it might do. I've got a 510 charger somewhere around here, so when it dies, I may try that and let it do a slow overnight charge. I've relegated it to using my 2-hits/day flavor just to prolong it's life as long as I can.

You have more options with chargers than me. If you suspect one of your chargers is causing a problem then don't use it. I didn't have a choice because I had one ego kit and one fast usb/ac charger. If you can smell burnt electronics from the button area I'd suggest not charging that battery either. I'm pretty sure burnt smell is bad. I'm not afraid of electronics and have taken my fair share of things apart. I really don't know if chargers kill batteries or batteries kill chargers, there must be a link. I'm stuck using my pass through with a cord hanging out of my pocket. It has a 360 mah battery in-line with the usb thingy. I call it the pocket hookah lol. I've also discovered that the ego batteries with the plastic button are the real deal. The ones with a rubber button are knock-offs.

I have 9 TW batteries with my Tornado. Have had them for 5 weeks. Use 4 of them in rotation with two chargers going at a time. New they would last 10 hours or so with moderately heavy vaping. After five weeks, three last after a charge approx. 4.5 hours, and one six hours. Seems they are slowly not able to hold a charge as long anymore. They are disposables. Supposed to last two months to six months or so. 4.5 hours is inconveinent to me compared to ten hours. When the first one goes I'll probably freak and buy another 5 pack.

Love the tornado. Have not smoked in five weeks, since day one/hour one of putting it together on October 7. On November 5th; I quit nicotine and now it's been 6 days nicotine free. After 35 years of smoking. I'll gladly take 8 weeks on a battery. But I think rotating only two at a time is more economical and smart. Anyway rotating two, and getting 6-8 weeks -I'll accept it compared to what I used to put out buying cartons of cigarettes.

Since I posted how my mega Tornado was working well, 2 days later it died. After that I moved on to a lil Chuck. I still have one of the original tornado batts left, which works great. I like to use the Tornado when I'm out and about since the Chuck is a bit bulky and looks suspicious to those still using analogs.
