Pap, Chak is right (was it Chak) who said you can wrap a standard coil around silica just like you do a Vivi Nova. Don't have to do a microcoil.

Might have been, but I don't remember. You are right though, you don't need a micro coil. I ran several tanks with just a standard coil and it worked fine.

I put my 2.0 ohm micros in a Phoenix on my Neme. So yes, on those I am sure I am jacked up. I find I take shorter hits. :)

Not too far off though. I find I get a .2 voltage drop on my 'Vela. Let's assume you get the same. Fresh battery is then is kicking 4.0 volts (4.2 minus 0.2 drop) so then wattage is:

(4.0 x 4.0)/2.0 or 8 Watts.

That is not too much higher than your 6.5 watt regulated cruising power...

Lion, what is your PG/VG ratio? The longer I experience this kayfun, the more I am convinced that higher VG users need something other than the most basic setup for their Kayfuns.

The standard set up works fine for me. I simply find the flavor to be greater with the vertical coil set up.

With regard to the vertical coil build: it is a bit finicky. The vertical coil has to be directly over the opening on the deck. I actually mount the coil with my 1/16" drill bit stuck into the hole, so the coil is held in its spot perfectly as I tighten down the legs. Also critical is that there be a space UNDER the vertical coil of about 1/16", so I usually put a paperclip under the "low leg" prior to attaching it to the post. This keeps the coil from shorting against the deck and also improves the flavor.

I also put the drill bit in when I switch the wick out as well. This keeps me from blocking the airway with cotton as I wrap the outside of the coil.

Of course, you have to make sure you don't accidentally fire the coil while the metal bit is holding it in place...I have made that mistake once or twice.

Hi everyone! My last batch of Huntsman came in really dark. I let it steep for three weeks and broke it out yesterday. It doesn't taste like Huntsman. It kinda tastes like chocolate cupcakes. I thought it might have been a fluke, but I got a new batch in yesterday and it looks even darker than the last one! Anybody else have the same experience? I'm really hoping that the beloved Huntsman is not gone forever...

80% vg, 20% pg.

All these people who fiddle with their setups are probably high VG as well. I'm at 70/30 and experience no wicking issues and no need to do anything but a standard microcoil. It appears those with high VG need to find ways to increase wicking. But then, that has been true with many devices.

I'm sure I get a similar voltage drop so your calculation is probably correct. And 8 watts is not a lot higher than my regulated 6.5 watts but it is noticeable and I adjust accordingly with smaller pulls.

I really think when debating setups, too little consideration is given to the VG content. The discussion is seemingly always based in that "if it works better for me then it must work better for everyone". Mind you, a totally innocent stance (I'm guilty of it too). I really think as a 20/80 vaper, you will have more challenges than me at 70/30. Just my opinion based on what I have gathered throughout my vape career.

RJ is a 100% VG vaper and she always gravitates to dripping in her small dripping attys. I can see why. Few things can handle a purity juice better.

No idea Jerzig. There should be a Huntsman enthusiast along soon. Have you tried HHV's new "Earthy" flavors? Maple, Eh? and Gaia? Both of those are in the Huntsman family.

OK question about the ratios. I'm suspecting a slight pg sensitivity lately so ordered all my hhv at 30/70. I'm using a halo Triton tank and have some aspire bcc that I don't normally care for. But with the higher VG will I need to buy something else to use these liquids in or will my normal set up work with some tilting and twirling?

Interesting! I got a batch last week and it was the same pale orange colour. It was ordered 3 weeks or so ago..

Have you contacted Adam and gang?

A higher VG juice is always going to need some adjustments. Most "stock" coils/clearos etc are tested and built for 100%PG or 80/20 PG/VG. I remember a phase in my carto tank days where I was ordering 50/50 juice and they were a bear to work with. I think I took more dry hits, than actually vaped those damn things. All was well once I went back to 80/20 PG/VG.

Those triton tanks seem to use a similar coil/wick setup to the Vivi's. Will they work? Sure.. but you may have to really up your tilt and twirl. Not sure if they have the "flavour wick" in them but you may have to remove one or more of those too.

Ok that makes sense. They're basically kanger t2 with vgo threading. Another company with same threading makes vivi nova, aspire, and t3 style that I can use if necessary, I just prefer a warmer vape normally. I can always take the flavor wick out or just remove a few strands of it as necessary.

I have used Boba's Bounty (100% VG) in my Vivi Novas and it works ok. But it works better in the ProTank or Evod, which are bottom coil designs. In the Vivi Novas, you have to swirl a bit and you might get a dry hit if you chain vape or take extra long draws off of it.

I must admit I don't know the advantages of a microcoil over a standard coil. All the videos of the Kayfuns showed microcoils, so I just assumed I'd build a microcoil.

Ok my aspires are bottom coil so I should be good then. Thanks all so much!

Just got the email my order shipped, the stamps stalking begins :p

Off Work until Thursday Afternoon... or Later ! There goes two more Vacation Days.
Need to examine the Ol' Kerosene Heater. Probably close to twenty yeas old, wick is newer but hardly used. Kerosene on hand is probably close to ten years old, so I might need a couple fresh gallons. If the power goes out, we loose everything....

And Boba's is the thickest juice made so that will test the limits on any wicking situation.
