Another day that begins before midnight. Please remind me why I thought this was such a great way to earn a living.......
Well, other than "day that begins before midnight",I think-like you-it's a good way to feed my family.
Besides,what would you change?
For me,they want me to not retire, but work part time to not be bored...................little do they know!

After 20 years behind the wheel, life at 0 mph is boring. But it is a decent way to earn a living....

.....because it beats being stuck behind a boring desk all day? Good Morning Papaw and Army!

I'm up 2 hours before the alarm, only slept 2 hours so far. Why can't I ever sleep good the nights before we have important appointments??!! :glare:

Lord P is getting a sonagram of his gallbladder and pancreas this morning to check out why he has abdominal pain, poor thing

Hope Yinz have a Super day today!! (threw a lil Pittsburgh-ese in there ;) )

Hi all! Still on the right side if the sod. Need new spark plugs and a few ignition coils in my Lincoln. Since the engine has to come out of the car to change the plugs it's $1200 for just changing the plugs. Also need new tires, so all together almost $3000 worth of stuff that needs done.

Well it's going to take a while to save...

Just working hard and hoping it all works out!

Hope everyone is good!!
I could do with some new spark plugs and a lot of ignition coils, and I don't own a car. Glad all is going well for you Sam!

What the hell kinda backwards azz engineer designs a car that has to have the engine yanked just to change the plugs !? Dam , I hate the way things are going these days ! Too much crap attached to everything .
I remember hanging around while a boyfriend hauled an engine out of his car, at his home, outside in a bone chill of about -25. The gear box kept getting stuck, so he had to shove a stick down into it. Eventually we figured we could just ram the stick in through the gear mechanism on the inside of the car. Handy things, hammers, sticks and duct tape...

A question for the BK's of the room - do any of you recall 4 inch backset locks (probably from around 1970). Guess what - I have realised that all the knobs and handles backsets are only about 2.5 - 2.75 inches nowadays. The only other ones I see are 5 inches. Any suggestions please?

Seriously... I know what ya mean, pulling the engine to change plugs, thats a royal design flaw in major proportions.... and as I mentioned around a week ago... multiple coils? whats wrong with just one and a distributor? maybe one day we might see quad parallel coils for cars.. 8 coils per cylinder ...burn that vapor ( gasoline vapor) ;)

hmmm been a while since Ive seen a working 4".... I would check with some salvage/refurbished hardware places first, if thats a no-go, then other options include ... plug and rebore, door replacement, rebore at 2 1/8 and a big deco plate :)

whats going on with the original lock/latch??

Thanks BK. So I do have the measurement right and there is such a thing. Ummm...I didn't realise I needed the backset, so I threw it in the bin. Duh!

hmmm okay.. there might be a term lost in translation here... the backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the hole which houses the locking assembly ( where the door knob/lock is... the big hole) the mechanism that keeps the door shut is the latch and comes in a few different sizes... 2 1/8, 2 3/4, 4, 5... etc ( these measurements drive the distance of the backset of the hole)
the main reason why the 4+" backset locks went away is due to the skimpy design on new doors ( residential) the frame of the new doors are about 2.5" wide with a crossbar ( think "H") with just enuf body to handle the drilling placement... about the only time one can use the "good stuff" is on solid core doors ( main entry no glass)
