I guess the thermocoupler on the water heater is on its last leg... 2 mornings in a row I had to go re start it ( gas fired heater) o_O
even bought one of those long neck flexible lighters to do it... stuffing a match into a straw was tedious...
I should have hot water in about 45 minutes :)

That's horrible. .. hopefully you can get it fixed soon!

My order from Stage is marked as all shipped, so that's good.. thought I'd update!

For me, it's just another week. My back has been messed up, I pushed it way too hard over the last few weeks, and never gave it the rest it needed.. every step has been sending shooting pain, so, I'm needing to be careful (and rest) for the next two weeks... hopefully that will be enough time.

Until then, I'll be bored... lol.

Good morning, Army.

Back home!

The consultation went well. They agree with what my oncologist is doing so that is good. I am going to keep them as my team, along with my oncologist. Right now what we are doing is basically it. Until it fails or we go a different route, I will keep them posted with all labs and reports and if a different direction is needed, I will consult with them.

I found out that I do have a mutation in a gene that makes this cancer a bit more difficult to treat. It is the BRAF V600e mutation. Seen in about 10% of colon cancer patients. All my other genes that were tested are perfectly fine. Just that one little bugger... According to 'statistics' survival rate is poor for those with that mutation. Great..... I plan on NOT being part of That particular statistic.

Basically, I am just taking it one step at a time. I can't plan ahead since we don't know how this is actually going to turn out. The only thing I can plan is if it fails and that is not something I want to think about right now. Trials are for when the first or second line of attack fails.

I go in for my 10th chemo session this Thursday and will be scheduling another scan.

So far I am still feeling great, the chemo is working, tumor markers are lowering and I'm in great shape.

I do love the team that I consulted with in Philly. They spent an hour with me answering all my questions. I impressed hubby with all the genometric talk. He said it was like I was on their level ROFL. Not quite but.... LOL

I am planning on going to them each year. Sooner if needed. *knock on wood it's not needed* They can point me to trials that target my particular mutation.

My sister in law is a nutritionist and gave me some more ideas and tips on other supplement/vitamins that I can take to help out. She also stated that my cancer is probably responding so well because of all that I am doing along with the chemo.

So, that's it in a nutshell. I am fighting and will continue to fight. I still plan on winning :D

Well, all in all its a good thing. Your having progress doing what you've been, so long as the direction is correct, you'll get to the destination.

Your right, just keep doing what you've been doing and don't lose hope. The attitude is much of the healing process!

So happy you like those doctors! It's awesome to have doctors who can explain things in an understandable manner!

As always, you have my prayers. Hugs to you!

You need to expand on this a little more. If survival rates are "poor" then how do you explain the success you've had to this point?

Robin, it sounds like you have a firm grasp on the situation. I am glad they have you on the right track. You are doing all you can, and your extra effort with nutrition and positive attitude will help bring you over the finish line to beat this thing.

From what the team in Philly said, sometimes there is a great response then all of a sudden it will go the other way.

That part I DO NOT LIKE!

But!!!!!! Remember, that is a statistic. Not everyone falls into the majority. There are still people that defy the odds. Also, they are not looking at whether or not people are using other methods to go along with chemo and the normal methods of fighting this disease.

I plan on being the minority :D ;) :p

Robin, did your nutrition include purple potatoes, red onion, and dates? There are many other things that would help, but I did read about these 3.

Onions yes. I love red onions and have always used them. Even before any cancer.

Purple potatoes  Not crazy about dates.

Turmeric and ginger are my tea of choice. Add a dash of black pepper. Black pepper ups the effectiveness of the turmeric.

Robin, so glad you have a nutritionist at your disposal. I read too much, but the overly processed crap we consume can't be helping our health. I try not to buy anything with ingredients I can't pronounce/identify. Have you looked into the Keto diet?

(sorry David...)

I've cut my carb intake a LOT. I can't cut it out completely. I lose too much weight. Trying to balance it all is like a full time job! LOL

Good morning :)

Still have more decorating to do. We need to get some things before we can put up lights. Don't really want to drill holes in the stucco so I think we will use a hot glue gun. I saw it used on a video for putting up lights on brick and stucco.

Inside, I'm going to get those temporary plastic hook things where you pull a tab to release after.

It's fun figuring out where to put stuff in a new place.
