Good morning, army:) Been going though lots of tests and dr appointments with hubs. We finally have a diagnosis. It's not a good one but still better to finally know. Hubs has a rare liver cancer, sometimes called bile duct cancer,Katskin tumor or Perihilar cholangiocarcinoma. Feb 6th he will have a biopsy and a stent put in his bile duct where the cancer is closing it. Then we'll move on to Chemo. It's not operable or curable so we're hoping for remission.

Still enjoying Legend and if I come up with 2 pennies to rub tomorrow I'll get some more.

We're doing ok. Hubs would be happy just to ease the pain some right about now.

Just wanted to let you know I didn't fall off the face of the earth.
I'm really sorry to hear this Fran , this year is starting out rough for several of us , hope it get's better from here . Thoughts and prayers for your husband .

Sounds liked it worked.. I may still get a router. Was looking at the Tp-link routers.. This one is more than I need. https://www.walmart.com/ip/TP-Link-...ual-Band-Gigabit-Router-Archer-C900/683170751
Yep, MU MIMO is where the technology is heading. And it will be a nice upgrade. Can one router cover your dwelling? With routers you really have to think about the future as much as the present. Another reason to go with AC. I don't think anyone is buying N routers anymore. Or at least not many.

Howdy Army! Long time no read. I am still vaping and HHV's Pirate's Booty & Dragon's Fire are still my all-time favorite EDV flavors - thank y'all for introducing me to them all those years ago.

I just scanned the last few months here and it is good to see so much of the Army still keeping this thread going fast and strong. And staying true to BIG THREAD topic(s), of course.

All this talk of routers and now I can't log into my router's admin account. Off to do a hard reset :-x

Got your router straightened out ?
Yepper. Running like a well-oiled machine. Just have to put the jack/wall plates on the access point cable and it's done. The wifi signals throughout this house is strong and all the devices using the wifi are very happy. :) Hoping they figure out your router issues.

Yes more than enough...My house is just a small 2 Br. I don't lose the signal on my phone till I start down the street... Thing is the last week or so I've lost my internet a couple times and had to restart the router to get it back.

Those TP Links look like more than enough for you. One thing I found with this Nighthawk (as powerful as it is) there always remains an area that this wifi (or I believe any wifi) cannot get to. This was true in my house where there is a spot underneath the cabinets on the far end of the kitchen that is dead as it can be. As soon as I move the connected device out from under those cabinets it lights up. Unfortunately, my kitchen television is parked under those cabinets. I put an extender nearby and that mostly solved the problem but I still had issues now and again. So instead of putting the extender "nearby", I put it directly behind the television a foot away. Problem gone. Now this TV has, by far, the strongest signal. It's practically off the end of the meter.

One other thing I learned while adding my access point is you must bridge the device being used for the AP. If you don't then you have two DHCP servers assigning IP addresses and it wigs out your network (been there done that). It's just a matter of a few settings in the firmware and problem solved. My latest concern is my cable modem/router is also a DHCP server so I am thinking it needs to be disabled as well (though it doesn't seem to be causing trouble). So I called my ISP and asked if I can bridge the modem/router and just render it to being a modem only. No problem doing that but they said it is not necessary if it is not causing problems. And it doesn't appear to be. I think what happens is since the modem/router is connected to the WAN port in the Nighthawk the modem/router is assigning an IP address to the Nighthawk only. From there, the Nighthawk assigns IP addresses to everything else. The wifi on my modem/router has been disabled and I don't have anything plugged into the LAN ports on it either so it cannot assign addresses to anything even if it wanted to. One thing the tech said to me though was that many of their customers connect devices to their LAN ports in both their modem/router and their attached commercial routers and this slows things down considerably. She said to refrain from using the LAN ports on the modem/router if you have another router connected to the modem/router. I recently connected everything I have on my Nighthawk so I was ahead of the curve a little.

Watching soccer (futbol). Arsenal v. Everton. Only understand about half of what the announcers are saying. All I know is the team in Red/ White is better at ball movement and teamwork. And they are winning 4- 0.
Maybe I should have hired Hulamoon for an interpreter....

Goalie throws the ball as far as he can. His teammate kicks the ball 20 yards ahead to another teammate who does the same thing. This process is repeated 5 or 6 times before someone finally takes a 100 yard shot at the other goalie. That goalie waits 8 seconds for the ball to get to him. He catches it and the process is reversed until three hours go by. The final score is 0 - 0 and they go to a shootout. The visiting team wins and the home fans stampede the arena. Headline the next day: "17 Trampled to Death by Hooligans After Crowd Erupts at Soccer Stadium".

I don't think there is anything more boring than watching soccer. The post-game violence is the fun part. Even curling is more exciting than soccer. Bowling is ecstasy!

I'm not much of a soccer fan, but I CAN give you the explanation for cricket ......

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out.
When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.
There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

My favourite sport to watch is Rugby. Think NFL with no stops and pauses, no knee pads, no shoulder pads, no helmets for two 45 minute periods :D and the rules? You have to move backwards to go forward, and unless you puke, faint or die, you keep going.
