Which vertebrae?

L3 and L4

It's called anterolisthesis, effecting both those vertebrae. Its between grade 2 and 3 somewhere, according to the doctor.

Because of all the previous surgeries the doctor doesn't feel comfortable giving too much time for PT before referring me on to a surgeon, plus it wasn't like this a year ago - this is very new, so likely sudden? Although I don't recall just one thing happening.

Is fusing a possibility?

I've already had fusions, and stabilisation (rod and screws) in that area of my back from the original injury. (Which might be why 3 and 4 are slipping together)

I'm honestly not sure what they would need to do, other than shore it all up again? Support it from another angle or something maybe..

It shouldn't have done this, technically speaking I wouldn't think. .. but, I dont suppose I'm the easiest patient either... lol... I'm bull headed stubborn and do a lot the doctors tell me I can't do..

But yes, surely surgically there is something they can do so long as there isn't too much scar tissue, which I know was a huge factor in the second back surgery.

But... those kinds of questions only a surgeon can answer, and to be honest I've so had my fill of surgeons ..

I'd do anything at this point to avoid another invasive back surgery.. I've stopped being stubborn. . Lol..

I don't think it is uncommon to add vertebrae to existing fusions for the reason you state. Or perhaps it just needs shoring up as you say. I'm sure you're tired of it but has to be better than putting up with the pain every day. Backs suck!

That's true... I honestly thought I had a hip fracture or something because of the pain... it's so weird because I thought I knew all the ways nerve pain could affect you... lol. Nope. New one on me..

And your right..but this kind of back surgery is a long road of recovery, if I ever recover... at some point I'm going to have to make a decision though, I'm just not willing to have it be the wrong decision in the long run.

But I'm with you.. backs suck! Lol..

Birthday gifts I bought myself arriving today. All for baking and pasta making. One of the jars is for keeping sourdough starter I’m going to make. And I’ll raise the first slice (and probably a beer) to Chak. And think of him whenever I feed the “yeastie beasties!” :)

Well I've been out there SWEEPING the rain again. We had a full days rain in two hours. They said we could get 1-3 inches of rain. I think they meant over two days, not two hours. Hopefully this will move on out before the next wave. I'm losing internet signal, so I better hurry and send this.

I'm running an Nvidia GTX 1060 video card that comes with a utility that does the video and audio capture , it automatically records as an mp4 . It also allows me to do everything through HDMI , comes in quite handy . And nope I'm a mediocre player at best , but I'm still learning . I need BK to get that Mac up and running , it'll be a blast having him with me , videos to come if he get's it going . :matrix:
