Bronze, I adore HT. I use it more than any other. I mix it with just about everything too. That and Legend have been my top 2 HHV vapes for a while.

Hula, it is about time you showed up. We were wondering if you were okay. It is peaceful here once again. A few minutes ago it was loud in here with both dogs barking. The neighbors had some kid out there blowing a trumpet in the most aggravating way. They weren't practicing, they were just trying to make as much noise as possible. Bella acted like it was the apocalypse. I couldn't even carry on a phone conversation. I didn't hear it at first, but Bella did. The barking woke Cassie up and she also started barking. I went out to see, and sure enough I heard it, and it only got louder. The boonies are calling for me. I know, I've said it before. I just can't help repeating that, especially right now.

kkay, until recently I lived in a house on an acre lot. The house was great but the neighbors kids drove us nuts. They never talked - they yelled. Every word that came out of their mouths was at the top of their lungs.

So we bought an older farm house on 16 acres and remodeled it. It's still not enough solitude for us. The house next door (probably 250 - 300 feet away) was owned by an older lady who had lived there since the Dark Ages. Of course, as soon as we moved in, she sold the house to a family with 4 little kids. They are good kids, but the 3 boys ride dirt bikes, and the little girl cries all the time.

I wish I could buy 640 acres, draw an "X" from corner to corner, and build a house in the middle of the X.

Harbor Freight deals in a lot of junk. Good when you don't use a tool that much or don't care if you lose it.

Exactly. But some of their stuff is good. You just gotta figure out what is and what isn't. There's a thread on a tractor forum I visit sometimes on "Harbor Freight Tools That Don't Suck", and it's pretty good info.

These days, if I want a tool that I know is well built and will last, I try to find something made in Germany. Those Germans know a little something about making quality products. For example, I need a set of Torx tools to work on some knives. I could go to Home Depot and get some Chinese junk made of Cheez Whiz, but I bought a German made Wiha driver and bits that will probably last me the rest of my life (if I don't lose it).

Yeah, you're not going to go wrong buying German-made tools. Have to be educated on these things.

Good morning Army!

Good morning Army!

For me, if it is something like a drill that will get a lot of use then I buy a quality product. I have cut-off grinder from Harbor Freight that may get used a couple of times a year.

Mornin', General, coffee's on.

Same here, except that I find their sockets and their Pittsburg Pro wrenches to be pretty good, especially for the cost. Avoid any battery powered tools such as drills.

General, you need to go to a Harbor Freight store. I love the smell of off-gassing Chinese plastic in the morning. :D

I have two battery tools, both DeWalt. I don't care for cordless. I have a generator and power my stuff out of the back of a pickup. I stay away cheap battery powered stuff, the batteries are not good and often you can't find them. Nice paper weight.
I will take a look at their sockets and wrenches, I tend to loose those.

Pappy, be glad you missed it. About 40 minutes from me there was a suspected tornado, at the local campground. One person is confirmed dead. That storm came my way.
Also a tree fell on a man's mobile home and it killed him. His young son was taken to the hospital. No word about his condition. Golf ball sized hail in Mt. Pleasant. Hail across a large segment of northeast TX.

I went looked out the window at daybreak and took a picture. The creek was to the top of the banks. I can't imagine how the river is doing, when it was already moderately flooding. One part was just a hair off of major flood. We got more rain after my report this morning, and some thunder. It was nothing compared to the earlier storm today.

The one that died at the campground at the lake was with her family. She died and her husband was seriously injured. Their children were not hurt. They were in a tent, and a tree fell on it. I have been at that campground many times. My kids and I used to love going there. I'm so sad to hear about these people. It was a horrific storm, no doubt about that.

I couldn't get the picture to work, so here is a link to a few photos and a story.

The suspected tornado at the campground was not a tornado. It was straight line winds from upwards of 90 mph wind, I just read.

You can see the pictures of hail below.
STORM DAMAGE: Severe storms cause widespread damage, hail across East Texas

Here is someone driving around the campground. Downed trees are all over the place. It does look more like a tornado came through, but they said it wasn't. The 2nd half of the video shows some of the tent areas. That is the only area I used to go to, as we just had a tent. We liked to get close to the water, that way I could keep an eye on the kids.

We slept on the sand in a sleeping bag there, when I was a kid. Mosquitoes would be buzzing your ears in the summer. The designated camping areas have grown tremendously. It is a lovely place, but it is hard to tell that with the gray skies and trees down.
RAW: Storms hit campsite at Lake o' the Pines

This is just insane! I’m so sorry for you and all the tragic events. Geo-engineering indeed.

Your story broke my heart! There’s a family on the other side of our place (common wall) and one below us with little ones who cry and/or scream all the time. But that’s somewhat expected when you’re living in multi-unit buildings. It still drives me nuts. But to move to 16 acres and still have to deal with it?!? That’s maddening!

Getting on my old fart soapbox (again!) - when did little children start screaming all the time?! Who turned up the volume? Am I imagining that kids were less noisy back in the day?

Thank you Lori. It has been nerve wracking for sure. Like I told my friend today, our weather is bad enough, without help making it worse! I used to think that was all just bogus, recently I've changed my mind. (especially after reading up on it, and watching videos about it) Anyway they say now we will have good weather for a few days, and I am relieved. I have kept up with more recent reports. I wanted to go take pictures of the river today, but I never did. Yesterday I didn't have time to stop and do that.

Kids have always been loud, but the screaming is their way of letting off steam these days I guess. Kids today can't go ride their bikes all over the neighborhood like they used to. They are too busy on games and the internet to do some old fashioned playing and sports. At least it seems that way to me.

Evenin' everyone! Had a great weekend, chores, cleaning and seeing my good friend Saturday, and today.....Nuthin'. Absolutely Nuthin'. Luxury! Will find out more about the "why" of last week's rum work week on Tuesday.

You deserved a great weekend! It’s funny how after a rough work week, chores and cleaning can be pleasant! But the visit and the NUTHIN’ can’t be beat! Hopefully. Whatever you’ll be finding out on Tuesday isn’t a cause for any worry. :)
