well I think I solved the vans overheating issue.... drained the radiator and looked down inside and saw that all of the tubes were clogged/covered in a rust colored "snot" like gunk... so I broke out the long handled bottle brush and gave the top of the core a good scrubbing... rinsed the radiator out and did it 2 more times till the water ran clear... changed out the thermostat while I was at it since I had things torn apart to that level... bought some hi tech sealant ( hi pressure/ hi temp, fast dry stuff) and put things back together... waited the suggested time to dry and set... added antifreeze to the radiator and topped off with water... started it up and brought it up to running temp... and I checked under the van for leaks.... looked like Niagra falls under the van... o_O

took everything back down and found the leak... the supposedly awesome sealant didnt work... huge leak between the thermostat housing and intake manifold... also, the gasket that was sold to me was paper type ( not waterproof) after looking closer at the situation I noticed it was the gasket that failed... basically separated and allowed water to flow between the middle of it... cleaned everything back up and used the blue RTV sealant with no gasket ( as I did several months ago)... hopefully I wont have to look for leaks anytime soon...

Good grief...what a day listening to my BFF's wife. Sorry ladies, but sometimes I just do not understand some of your species. Texting me all day complaining about her husband. Over stupid stuff. Bringing up things he said that pizzed her off on their wedding day 25 years ago. Telling me she's gonna give him the silent treatment. Calling him all sorts of names. Blah, blah, blah. Why is she telling me this?

A) I don't care
B) My mother taught me to stay out of other people's marriages
C) There's nothing I can do about it
D) It gives me a headache
E) Many other reasons but I'm too lazy to type them out.
F) Did I say I don't care?

She wears me out with that crap. I thought females were supposed to vent to their girlfriends?

Think I spotted him .:)

I urge leniency for this man

Hey woita! Long time no see. Where are you?

hey general, hallo retic :D

still kicking, still lingering around this thread, still living here and there.

Thought people would have forgotton about me by now, your asking is an honour :)

Spent two beautiful months in Cincinnati in March/April with my wife taking an internship at UC's history dpt. Now back in Germany with her finishing her M.A. thesis which is the last thing holding us back.
If all goes to plan she'll be done by the end of the year and if things go really well she's in for a teaching assistant job + phD classes at UC. That wouldn't start until next summer though and I don't think I can wait this long.

I'm going back to Cincy in two weeks - to primarily sit wifey's internship boss's dog. They're going to Europe for vacation and during dinner conversation I casually asked what they were going to do with the dog. They didn't know and I "offered" to come back for a dog sitting gig. We enjoyed a laugh, but a couple of days later he asked her if I was serious. She couldn't say and when asked I thought "why not". As long as I have Internet I can work from wherever. I can live in their house and use their car so all I had to pay for was the flight.
So that's what I'm gonna do until the end of July - after that who knows. I might go to some software developer meetups while there and maybe I can score a gig and will HAVE to move :)

I still have that friend with a local business who I want to help with his website and I plan on thinking of a little software development fun project to do with another friend's kid. He plays Fortnite and wants to be an app developer and asked if he can visit me when I come back. Let's see and show him what he's in for :)

Soo, that's for my summer plans. I promise to keep y'all updated.

have a great evening, army :)

The HHV Army *never* forgets one of our own. :)

It’s wonderful to hear your update! I’m glad things are progressing along for you and your wife. Makes me laugh... “Sure. I’ll just hop on over from Germany and dog sit for ya. Why not?”

I can barely drag myself out to the market every week.

Women do vent to each other. Drives me bonkers. As does the “gift” some females have for hanging onto grievances FOREVER and trotting them out every time there’s any kind of dispute. Or any time they have a bellyache or a cramp in their pinkies.

What I want to know is how on earth this lady doesn’t know you really don’t like her and don’t wanna hear it?

Well, I'm friends with her too because she knows sports as good as any guy I know so we text about the ballgames. I ignored her rant as much as I could. Hardly responded to it until she said he was in for the silent treatment. I texted back and told her that was high school :censored:. Couldn't take it anymore. :)
