Good morning people !

Louie (new cat) is interesting.
No fear of thunder
And he sat in the window and watched the fireworks !

I wasn't sure I was ready to get another cat, still hurting so much from the loss of Merlin...
But I am very glad we got him. He's such a love and plays like crazy - even fetches :)

Took him to the vet Thursday (I called and they had an opening).
The shelter where we got him had done all the shots and de-worming etc...
But...

OMG...

This cat poops and passes gas like I have never smelled before.
I am surprised the paint has stayed on the walls !

Had him checked for parasites just to be sure (tho it's probably food related).
He got a clean bill of health but we are giving another dose of de-wormer anyway and a pro-biotic just 'because'.

Mercy !

We may be on the new food search if this doesn't stop.

LOL! Louie sounds like my Tigg who also fetches... and makes the paint peel. We had been giving him AvoDerm canned food due to his sensitive stomach. But I figger if it smells awful in the can, it’s gonna be worse when it comes out of the other end.

We switched to Nature’s Balance Sea Brûlée for his wet food. It’s the dry food that really seems to have made a difference though. Halo Easy To Digest kibble. Both cats love it. And our air is less foul. ;)

A probiotic would be great to use for now. Some pets don't tolerate food changes well, and it must be done slowly. Sometimes it takes a while for their body to adjust to it. Some foods cause problems with certain pets. After giving it a little while, switch if you are having bad results. I give no more than 1/4 of a new food to my pets. Then gradually I work my way up. I take about a week up to 10 days to finalize the switch. I will say if you only feed one brand, it is harder to switch later for some pets. I feed my dogs two different brands. Sometimes Bella has a little trouble with one of them. So I mix the two, and that seemed to make the difference.

The cats only get one food, and that is their wish. The old cat wants her particular food, and that is it. Now she used to like an indoor food, but she got fat on that one. So I haven't bought any of it in a long time. I get Meow Mix from Sam's Club in a big bag. I tried to give them a better quality food, but the old cat refused to eat it, and threw up when she was forced to. (I tried 2-3 good cat food brands) The dogs get Whole Farms and Authority. I used to feed only Pedigree in the past, until they had a recall and I did some research on pet food. Bella has had several types of food, but I had to stop buying the more expensive food. I'm doing good to feed the dogs what I am now. They eat better than I do.

It’s true! Our pets get way better care than we give ourselves. :)

When we first rescued Song, we bought her Purina Kitten food after using up the sample of what the vet gave us for her. She stood over the bowl and took a piece at a time, then... PTOOOEEEY! On the floor. Over and over.

We got the message. No more Purina ever.

The only wet food she will eat is tuna packed in water. BUT it has to have a little bit of mayo in it. Looking at ingredients of cat food with gravy vs the ingredients in mayo, we went with it. She turns up her nose and acts insulted at anything else.

Before all cat lovers here holler at me, she is 11 yrs old and has been the healthiest pet in our brood. :)

Brake job done. Rotors were in pristine condition so I didn't have to turn or replace them. Just pads all around. Needed it. The old pads were down to the nubs. $99 for parts and cleaner (ceramic pads). Guessing a shop would have charged me $400. I don't know what the going rate for ceramic pads all around goes for these days. Maybe BK knows. Disc brakes. A shop would have probably made it mandatory to turn or replace rotors. Screw that! Mine were in top condition. Many times they are not but these were clean, smooth, and no corrosion.

Now I can have fun the rest of the night and weekend. :)

Don't know if it helps, but I've found that rescues always have the nasties, oooowheeeee!, for a few weeks till they settle. Could be the change of diet, but it gets better with time.

One nice thing about PetSmart and Petco - if the food makes your pet sick you can return it for a refund or exchange. That helps because their food can be expensive!

That is true, they both are good about that if needed. I've never returned any before though. So many brands do have recalls. When I had several dogs, I used a cheaper food. (mostly Pedigree) Then with Bella I decided to only give her good stuff. Later I had to cut down on what I was spending, especially when I got Cassie. Cassie got Natural Balance puppy food, and then later Authority puppy food. Now they all eat the same food, since Cassie is full grown now. I wish I could feed them Merrick or Wellness Core. That is just out of my financial range though. I did only feed grain free in the past for Bella. Now she gets Authority, and it has grain. I usually buy the Whole Earth Farms in grain free version. So they do get grain, but not a lot of it. Maybe one day I will make my own dog food for them. The price of a big bag of quality food is an eyebrow raiser for sure. After the old dog passes on, I can't have over two dogs. The expense is just too much for me for more than two. (one big dog, and one small one- NOT two big dogs)

Now the younger cat rounds out her diet with anything she can catch just about that comes in the house. I guess she likes a little extra protein, LOL! The old cat used to like a little tuna fish now and then, with no issues. Now if she eats anything but her regular food she will get sick at her stomach. (even a bite or two)

Yea, I figure it's diet change.
When we first brought him home tho his first few litter box visits were chemical smelling, like passing anesthesia yet it had been a few weeks since he had been fixed.

Today does seem to be better already.

Congratulations. I need to do the same for the truck, pads only - I get them before they get the rotors. Rotor turn at a shop seems mandatory, whether you need it or not. I have been thinking about ceramics, have you used them before? What brand? Inquiring minds, you know.

I changed the tractor oil and filter, greased the beast, changed the plugs (the gap was actually right just out of the box) and then took a nap. I didn't even put it up, no rain in sight - tomorrow is another day. I love that ole John Deere, it just goes and goes. A fulfilling day for an old guy.

I got some CarQuest Wearever Platinum Professional pads from Advanced Auto. Carquest and Advanced Auto are in bed together these days. Not sure of the difference between the Platinum and Gold. I think the Platinum comes with the little clips and crap. I like changing out those clips so I got the Platinum. Got a 25% discount code that helped. Can't say I have any experience with ceramic pads. Might have them on one of these vehicles and don't remember. Thought I'd give them a whirl. Like you, I wanted to change the pads before they started eating the rotors. Got them just in time. Another couple months and they would have started chowing the rotors. Don't need that headache.

Afternoon....Went to the store and mowed the yard. Made a couple burgers with cheese, pastrami, Pico De Gallo, lettuce and spicy mustard. They were nom,nom good. Other than that relaxing...
Looks like I'll have to watch the race on NBC sports stream. Added it to the Roku. NBC is the only network I don't have and if that doesn't work I'll hook up the antenna.

Two highlights to my day so far: complete tank clean and rewick. Mmmmm, fresh Dragon’s Fire.

Highlight 2: receiving the stainless steel 6 qt pot and lid set I ordered. I have a set I got for a great price a few years ago. All that was missing was the 6 qt pot. The 8 qt one I had one is great for soups, but a pain to clean. This new little guy is perfect for making pasta and hand-pulled noodles. Tonight I’m making the hand-pulled noodles. Yummmm.

It’s the little things in life. :)

wellll with the weather being way too hot, I didnt get the motors swapped, but I did manage to exchange the radios from the yellow car ( the one the wifey did in) to the white car ( wifeys "new" car) also swapped batteries from yellow to white since the yellow had the newer battery... gonna put the white battery on the standby generator in the back yard since the original generator battery sulfated and died. had to go to an auto parts place to buy the E-Torx sockets needed to work on the engine swap... 60$ for a set of 10 sockets OUCH!! but... I now have the tools to do future work :)
