Oh I’m gonna watch that in a bit.

While I completely understand the intrusion is wrong, I’m just going to say, I actually appreciate the info it’s feeding me. Especially when I’m shopping for something, or looking for a recipe. I make a lot of my own skin care and some of those ads have been very helpful pointing me in the right direction.

Wow! That is unnerving! I don’t blame you for deleting the app. It’s interesting that we are having these experiences and noticing too. The first time I put it up to coincidence. But it’s happened at least half a dozen times to me making it unlikely to be coincidental. Yes! Just leave me alone!

I saw a presentation by one of the upper level Google or Facebook execs. She was excitedly discussing tech that’s coming soon. It’ll be a device that will enable you to send your thoughts to your phone, tablet, etc. No typing or voice command.

She hurried to assure the audience that it will have to be a thought you intentionally send. The device won’t just read all of your thoughts. Don’t worry! We’d never do that!
My son was over a few weeks ago to visit and we were talking about something, don't even remember what, but we were even ridiculing this product, not even expressing any interest in it at all. When he got home, he texted me a pic of an ad for that product that magically appeared in his facebook feed...my reply, "And you wonder why I refuse to do facebook?!"

Oh, definitely the helpfulness and convenience are awesome! I just prefer to go hunting myself. ;)

I don’t mean to be insulting at all, or offend you or anyone else. I do enjoy a lively debate.

We all have to consider the world and draw our conclusions. Our free will is a blessing and it can be a curse. But it is of great value.

Not insulted or offended, I completely agree with you in principle, just personally I’m not bothered by it. But not much bothers me. I realaize im not the majority.

In football news, @PapawBrett what happens to my beloved Seahawks now that Paul Allen has passed away? Does it go to family or up for sale?

Dunno yet. Probably an Heir moves in, then decides what to do next.

Good Morning (?) Army. Leaving 70* Carolina for 50* Ohio this morning. Gotta pay for stuff (house, car, etc.)

Have a Safe ad Blessed Day :)

For myself, I'm an ornery old scudder. No YouTwitFace, no freaking "Alexas" for me. I wanted to karate chop the computer the first day I saw that sodding stupid ***** talking PAPERCLIP in Microsoft Office and my sneering disgust of living in 1984 has continued in leaps and bounds. Orwell was a warning, not a "how to", not a bible. Not that I pay that much nevermind:rolleyes:..... ahem.

I read Orwell when I was 18. And even my know-nothing young self knew it was a warning. Now that I’m a cranky old broad, it upsets me even more.

All the latest AI talk assures us that we need to merge with machines or we won’t be able to participate in society: go to school, have jobs, buy or sell. Little things like that.

This is not a new idea. The first ones to talk about it was way back in the 1940’s. 1984 was published in 1949.

Oh, that idea is a little older than the 1940's . . . think Book of Revelations.

Combine all this crap with an over-reaching government and it = Mark of the beast . God these companies must hate Linux .

Well done, well done!!! Another trial by fire you’ve gotten through. And only a little bit scorched by it, eh? :)

The scorch.. he said some pretty awful things to his Dad.. but did apologize later. DH and I won't soon forget, but it's smoothed over for now.

Interesting info on the search engines. I've never had something I just talked about come up in ads. My life is pretty boring tho.

If you want to strengthen your relationship with your spouse, just move 15 hours apart. DH has been away since Aug 11, I've seen him once. It's way tougher on me than I thought it would be, and I'm counting down the days until I see him next. Once the kids are off the payroll, I'll probably travel with him, but that's a few years away.
I told him I need to make a list of all the things he does to annoy me, and pull it out to read whenever I think I'm lonesome..
