Oh, that idea is a little older than the 1940's . . . think Book of Revelations.

Combine all this crap with an over-reaching government and it = Mark of the beast . God these companies must hate Linux .

Yes! You have caught my drift. And since it’s prophesy, it will need to be navigated but it can’t be stopped.

Beat me by two seconds . :)

Actually according to the server time stamp she beat you by ONE second. ;)

For myself, I'm an ornery old scudder. No YouTwitFace, no freaking "Alexas" for me. I wanted to karate chop the computer the first day I saw that sodding stupid ***** talking PAPERCLIP in Microsoft Office and my sneering disgust of living in 1984 has continued in leaps and bounds. Orwell was a warning, not a "how to", not a bible. Not that I pay that much nevermind:rolleyes:..... ahem.

This epic rant is so good I have to keep re-reading it. It makes me want to pump my fist while laughing uproariously. I think I need to make it into a poster!

The scorch.. he said some pretty awful things to his Dad.. but did apologize later. DH and I won't soon forget, but it's smoothed over for now.

Interesting info on the search engines. I've never had something I just talked about come up in ads. My life is pretty boring tho.

Ouch. No one can cut quite like your offspring can. I’m glad yours had the good sense to apologize. It helps.

Long distance relationships are interesting aren’t they? I like your solution for the bouts of lonesome! There’s also us here to help distract you anytime you need it. ;)

Still raining here. The local weather guy thought we might have a day or two break. The gov site shows rain all the way till Saturday. Who knows after that?

Since we are on the creep factor stuff, check out truthstream media. (they have their own site, or you can see them on You Tube) That will tell you what is partially on the lineup. I don't have a smartphone. I can't afford it, nor do I need one. I'm beginning to think I don't even need my basic cell phone. There are times when I think we were better off without the internet. Oh I do love it, but sometimes it is just more trouble than it is worth. I have always been a private person. That doesn't mesh well with tech today. They can target ads at me all day, but I won't click on one. They are wasting their time. Even if I had the money (which I don't), I wouldn't click on their ads. Clicking on things can bring you all kinds of malware etc... I have seen products here, only as a courtesy to Oliver.

I have no need for FB, Twitter or anything down that line. I don't even like to text someone. Sometimes that is helpful, but I'd rather talk on the phone, or email. I guess I need to reread 1984. Where we are headed makes 1984 seem like kindergarten stuff. So I guess I need to refresh my memory on that book.

Well, I've loaded up some Heavenly tobacco. Looks like it is gonna be another day of problems here. It is nice to be able to have a vape, to relax me a bit.

New i8 arriving Thursday. They bolixed up the first order so I had to re-order Sunday. You'd think I was taking out another mortgage. So anyway, I cleaned out my phone and got it backed up to the iCloud so I'm ready for the new phone. I'm really making a leap going from an i4 to an i8. i4's are basically obsolete.

And I'm just a year and a half removed from using a flip phone. :)

Well I can't find 1984. I did find Brave New World though. It wasn't as good, if memory serves me correctly on that.
It is if you convert the animals into powers that be and the rest of us. I'm not surprised that you can't find 1984 either, for exactly the same reasons.

Hula, I have (or had) both books. I used to be an avid reader before the internet came along. I loved to read, even as a small child. I probably loaned that book to someone a long time ago. It has been ages since I've read those books. I also read to my kids since they were babies. They used to love story time around here. Even after they could read for themselves, we still had bedtime stories for a while. When I was young I read novels mostly. When I was a bit older, I read more fact based books. Now and then I still like to read a novel though.
