Do get a second opinion on this one just to be sure. I had a dentist who retired and her (recent) partner took over - same one who root canaled my problem tooth. One year he rattled up an estimate close to $4K! Went to another dentist, the one I use now - he examined, and said none of it needed doing. I also think my original (the retired) dentist did a lot of "make work" that has since caused more problems.
I saw all the xrays and photos in full HD color. I've seen enough of them to understand them. I can see the problems pretty clearly. Maybe one or two of the teeth might not be as bad as they appear. Got to look at them after a good cleaning. The most important issue now is that #30 tooth where the cap came off. It's on the right side and that particular tooth does the lion's share of the work. Can't wait on that. I have to have an endodontist (whatever they call them) look at it to make sure the root isn't fractured. If it is I'm looking at an implant. If it's not, I'm still looking at getting a new crown cuz the tooth is decaying on one side. Beyond that I'm looking at least one more crown, possibly more. Currently, I have only four crowns and two root canals and a smattering of fillings. I guess that's pretty normal for my age. But I will be adding to that count in the next several months. Hope I don't need an implant. That's big bucks and takes forever to do.

Looking at a Sonicare Flexcare Platinum electric toothbrush. They have a "connected" model. In other words, it has bluetooth. WWWWWWWHAT!!! Are you kidding me!? A computerized toothbrush. I've seen it all now.

WHY???????

I think there are some items that just don't need Bluetooth!

General, how about see-through refrigerator doors? Or smart dishwashers?

My wife was looking at dishwashers and said some of them sense whether the dishes are dirty and won't come on if they're not. (If I understood her correctly.) You think I want to be second-guessed by a dishwasher??? When I turn my dishwasher to "On" or "Run", I want the blasted thing to run and not give me any backtalk.

Maybe there are lots of lonely people looking for friends.

Totally nuts! I can endorse the Sonicare NON-bluetooth version though. Never thought I'd like using it, but it's great and my teeth are cleaner.

Good luck with all that dental work crap. Ugh.

I couldn't do that. I wash my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. I'm from the era of dishwashers sterilize, but don't actually clean anything..I'll never trust them.

I've heard nothing but good about electric toothbrushes. This hygienist chick said the sonicare is better than the oral-b. Said it has a better brush head and motion. Looks like the Flexcare Platinum can be got for $118 (Prime) on Amazon. Guessing they rape you on the replacement heads.

I was that way for a long time too. But there was a Maytag dishwasher in this place when I bought it and I use the Cascade Complete soap and those suckers come out clean as a whistle. I once used cheap house brand soap and when I switched to Cascade Complete it was like night and day. I get the gel stuff in the plastic bottle.

Man, am I domesticated or what?

Yeah, the replacement brushes aren't cheap. Costco has good deals on multi-packs. We also wait for 20% deals in the mail from Bed, Bath & Beyond. Still, they cost $15+ per brush in the 2-packs with the discount. I think of it as an investment in not paying a dentist.

Same here. Except I got to hating how the dishwasher ate away enamel on glasses and plates. I'm back to doing them all by hand. Gives me time to think.

Well, that's a big reason why I'm interested in it. You can buy lots of sonicares for what these dentists charge to fix your teeth. How long do the brush heads last?

Been watching some You Tube reviews and three months seems to be about right. What do the replacements cost?

Oh, you said $15

You really don't need that platinum version. Personally, I wouldn't put bluetooth near my head if I can help it. We have the basic version since 2012, used at least 4x per day since then. It's still running like a champ.

Ours is like this one. And Amazon has a great sale on it.

Well, the Platinum comes in both connected and non-connected. About a $50 difference. They'd have to pay me $50 to take the connected. This chick hygienist said to limit myself to the top three Sonicares. Diamond Head, Flexcare Platinum, and Flexcare. Maybe she's full of crap. I don't know. I'm kind of waiting for Bridget to hop and and put in her two cents since this is her bailiwick.

Evening...… Work day went well. But the D.O.T. Doctor will not take the test I had done. it seems there is a number that isn't printed on it. Guess she wants "ALL" the "I"s dotted and the "T"s crossed. So unless I find out differently tomorrow I'll be out of service Monday. At that point I'll tackle it head on. Until then I'm having a beer.. And not worrying about it.:2cool:

If the Diamondhead refers to the brush style, that's the one we use. It's excellent. So the cord offends you! LOL! I'm glad there's options for us all.

I'm looking forward to @76bridget putting her expertise in here too.

You have the perfect approach to it! And I don't just mean the beer, although that's perfect too. :toast:
