Bad news from the dentist. I don't know what makes anyone think any visit to the dentist is simple. They NEVER are!! They opened my piehole and all I could see in their eyes was green...as in $$. I'm looking at five or six teeth that will need varying degrees of work. Anything from a simple re-drill/re-fill to re-crowns to new crowns to possible implant (on the one the cap fell off). Let the fun begin.

Drinking milk doesn't help your teeth I don't care what they say. No one drinks more milk than me but you'd never know it by my teeth.

Advice (I'm sure Bridget will back me up): Go to the dentist at least once a year for a checkup. They can fix problems BEFORE they get exponentially worse (and cost an arm and a leg).
I’m sorry it wasnt the quick fix you were hoping for. I go every 4 months (yes 3x/yr). The extra cleaning costs $50 and prevents hundreds I’m sure. Good luck with the repairs. Will be nice to have the all sorted out and behind you.

If they manipulate the pix why would I want them sent to the new guy? I guess I just want the new guy to start from scratch. I know it's double expense but it may be worth it. I put out a feeler for another dentist on our nextdoor website (covers a bunch of neighborhoods in N. Raleigh). Getting lots of feedback. I'm trying to avoid the ones who base their dentist selection on how they are mollycoddled. I understand going to the dentist can be traumatic for a lot of people and the stroking, cajoling, and sympathetic tones are valuable to them. It isn't to me. I never minded dental work. Yes, I'd rather be doing something else but I never put up a fuss getting my teeth worked on. I asked for a dentist who was no nonsense, straight-forward, no bull, get to the point...no fancy equipment or peddling cosmetic gimmicky was necessary. One that has my interest is a former navy dentist. The person said he meets my description to a tee. Does what needs to be done...no more, no less. That's what I want. That's how my first dentist was. Kind of a blah personality who didn't talk much. But he did damn good work and just got the job done. You could trust him with your life. Too bad he's 900 miles away. :(
You could be right on the X-rays. Were any of your front teeth involved? If not, you can most likely get away with 4 bitewings and one extra that shows the root of the crowned tooth.

So glad you had a local group to reach out to. The Naval DDS sounds perfect for you.

That's a great deal! We only charge for the cleaning on the extra visit, but it's still close to $90.

Yeah it’s just the cleaning at the rate they charge my insurance company (which is in network). He’s always trying to do something fancy but my RDH is a friend of a friend at work and just sort of steers me in the right direction. I did get a gum graft a few years ago, that was pricey but needed. Love my soniccare. I hate having work done so I’m big on prevention (floss etc).

On another note.. I just arrived to San Diego and realized I forgot my 2 pairs of jeans in my dryer. Ugh!!!!

Evening friends!

All the talk about caramel popcorn got to me. Today I made some. Turned out pretty tasty.

I made the caramel from scratch, but no brown sugar or corn syrup. Just water, sugar and a bit of salt. After it carmelized you add heavy cream. Tasted like butterscotch and doesn’t stick to my teeth!

I’m not used to so much sugar, so I won’t be making this often. Added peanuts to this batch. Yum!

I'll pass on a communicating tooth brush. I'll also pass on Alexa and smart anything.

Seriously.

This toothbrush is attached to a mobile phone app and records/suggests every which way to brush your teeth. Good grief!

I added peanuts too. Yum!

As penance, I’m now eating Brussel sprouts. It’s not punishment because I love them. And I added bacon & Parmesan. Think I’m gonna need penance for my penance. :)
We have similar taste. Love brussel sprouts with bacon.

Good morning,army:)

Hey,Bronze:) Hubs isn't doing well. The cancer seems to be escalating at a rapid rate. Hospice is sending a nurse out today to check on him. Only the brave are out in an ice storm.
Well, that's downright sad. On the other hand, if he's gonna go it may as well be with minimal agony. I can't imagine he wants to endure a lengthy illness when he's miserable. Boy, once that cancer takes hold it can really take over fast. Those Hospice nurses will do everything they can.
