three, entering my first year at the University of Kentucky and watched as a building was burnt down in protest while seeking peace, riots in the cities for justice, political shootings for who knows why. Division was palpable and violent. I won't be around for the worst of the continuing societal disintegration and to witness the ultimate rise of a totalitarian in a desperate search for elusive order. But my thirty year old daughter will be.
One of our founding fathers observed that a republic can only exist if the people are moral. Morality is now described only in political terms, right and wrong depends only upon one's political "side".
