I know where the term "the whole 9 yards" came from.

And I know where the "F" word came from. That one is an interesting story if anybody hasn't heard it.

and where did the "F" word come from??? there are alot of words that begin with "F"... :)

Swedish, Norwegian and Dutch all had similar words in the 15th century to denote the act, (though I do like the village stocks crime explanations - for unlawful carnal knowledge).

ever wonder where the "quolocalizms" come from?

like... " the cats out of the bag"
and... "it takes two to Tango"

why did someone put the cat in the bag in the first place
and could 3 or more people Tango?

does tomato paste really hold things together?

and since we are talking about tomatoes..
there are several types of tomatoes...
cherry, Roma, Big Beef, Heirloom, kumato..........
but my favorite is...

teauxmayteaux... the cajun variety

I had a friend who thought the saying was “You can’t win the mall.”

She wondered why anyone would want to win a mall. ;)

I know it's a vendor thing, but ...
Finding a flavor I really, really like is still big time enjoyment for me, even after 6 1/2 years. Home and Hearth makes a blend called Anniversary Kake that is a. smooth and delightful VaPer (Virginia- Perique blend).
Are Adam and Heather allowed to explore new flavors, or has Gub'ment messed that up, too ?

No new flavors permitted to be developed since the Deeming. Heather loved creating new flavors too. A big loss for us all.

I’d like to hear the story. I’d also like to see if you can tell it in a clean, family-friendly way that doesn’t earn you an ECF strike. A true challenge!

:pervy:why do they call them "green onions" when the bottom part is actually white???
View attachment 795237

maybe we should call them "small onions"

un yun ... chinese for un ( not) yun ( edible)... ;)

un yun... russian for un ( bad) yun ( breathe) ... ;)

un yun ... Modern English for un ( to reverse) yun ( kissable) ...:pervy:

By the time they pulled them outta the ground and found out, it was too late to change the name. :)

Chinese recipes I’ve seen have you cut away the white part and only use the green. They also tend to call them spring onions.

Good Morning Army. First stop isn't until Noon, and they won't let you the gate until one hour before. So I got to sleep in until 4am this morning. Nothing like a good night's rest !
Sorry, but when someone "sleeps in till 4 a.m. and therefore has a good night's rest" my mind gets boggled.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but it's what I read in a book. Back in the old days, the crime of having sexual relations with someone other than his or her spouse was called Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. And when someone was arrested for that crime, the reason for the arrest was listed as "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge", which in some cases was abbreviated to use only the first letters.

Again, I have no idea if that is fact or fiction. If it's fiction, at least give me credit for telling it in a way that avoided the ire of Classwife.

so... what you are saying is that the partner " let the cat out of the bag" and someone found out and thus someone got arrested for the illegal activity and put in the stocks... yup I would say someone got "eff'd"

Hello...

My little bump in the road healthwise has turned into some cancer cells in one breast. Getting an MRI and meet with the surgeon on Tuesday. I’m pretty neurotic about getting my mammograms so I’m sure we caught everything nice and early and all will be well.

Hope everyone is doing well!
