If you have never cut and split a hickory tree, keep it that way.

I did it after the'09 ice storm here; it was, for sure, a have to not a want to. Fortunately, it was only one but it came down over my very unusual drive and we couldn't get out until it as cleared. THEN, Mrs CMD and my daughter fled the county to a warm motel room, we had no electricity. They left me to guard the fort at night making sure the pipes didn't burst and then go to take a shower in the mornings before work in their nice warm motel. Thank God I was bright enough to buy the generator right after we moved in.

I've cut just about every kind of tree. Hickory kicks myass above all others! I cut the top growth about 8 years ago. Those limbs are a foot or less in diameter. Started to cut n split the trunk the other day. That is more like 2-1/2 feet in diameter...all 125 growth rings. Got it about half done and all I could think of was...

So since God put it there, he can finish the job. Aint gonna be me. Strike me dead.

Hotel since Sat. but I think she found a house she likes tor rent.
Pain in the neck I'm sure. Like I say, my neighbor's granddaughter (that they 1/2 raised) lost her house and dog to a fire. The dog was less than three years old and named Moo cuz it had cow spots on it. She was devastated. But she eventually got over it and got another dog. Life goes on.

Havn't pulled the trigger yet, but I've narrowed it down to Legend, Sludge and Heavenly Army I think. HA sounds interesting and like something I will appreciate. I'm heading to town so might pick up a couple 30Q's, they have them here at a local for 12.99 each which is pretty good for here.

One word...LEGEND!

Well if it snowed last night, it melted before I got up. Some people lost power last night, and I bet they were an icicle this morning. I think the wind was the cause. This morning we had a beautiful blue sky, until the spraying started. Now it is just bright light, but no sun. Hopefully it will be enough that it won't get too cold tonight. I read about people stealing people's coats by gunpoint in Chicago. If I lived there, I wouldn't leave the house unless I absolutely had no choice. That is mind numbing cold some people are having here, and quite deadly. That little heater I have keeps you from freezing, but definitely not warm.

Weather says we will have -11 tomorrow night. If I had money I'd be spending the winter in a more southerly climate.
I spent 38 years in Chicago. Now you know why I moved to NC. :)

Y'all know you can get ice cube trays from the dollar store, right?
I haven't thought of ice trays for years.. as I remember there are 2 types, just the plastic ones, but I also remember the metal ones that had some sort of lever. As a kid I remember the metal one with lever
