@Opinionated prayers sent. Bless her heart, that's a long time to have a fever.
I've been up since 3am, it's gonna be a very long day since I went to bed at 11:30p. Finally have a truck deal in the works, hopefully getting it tonight. Ended up going with a new Chevy Colorado (V6, 4x4 WT- for the guys). He starts commuting next fall to OSU so I wanted something dependable for him. I'm all packed up to go to WV early tomorrow morning too.
The dog got skunked last night. He's an outside dog, but they sleep/stay in a small room next to mine and it was filtering into the house.. I moved him to to the (empty) chicken coop last night, the smell was beyond awful. Kal is gonna scrub him down this afternoon with baking soda, peroxide, dawn. Kinda glad I'm gonna be gone for a few days, lol!
Pic for entertainment purposes.. me at 10pm getting ready to take the dog to the coop.

This gives me an excuse to watch the ad again.Good Morning Army. Hump Day !
Will do. Poor little girl. All she wants to do is play.So guys, another grandchild is ill. She is 5 years old and has ran a fever for over three weeks now.
They do not know why. She's been hospitalized for the last week and they've ran lots of tests and still cannot figure out the cause.
They have her on IV antibiotics and while they are helping (her white blood cell count goes down while on the antibiotics and her fever goes down to between 100 - 101) they still aren't fixing the problem. They tried taking her off the antibiotics the other day but within a day her fever went back up to 104 so they put her back on them.
They are shipping her off to another (more specialized) hospital today, in hopes of finding the underlying cause.
So, she could use prayers, if people wouldn't mind. This issue is just not resolving. ..
Never heard of it before. But at least they have a game plan. Better than what you had.Well guys it's looking good.
The infectious disease doctor (at the new hospital) thinks she knows what is wrong. She thinks it's a genetic periodic fever syndrome.
What they are doing is treating her for it, and if she responds then that's what she has..
We don't know if she will respond to treatment yet, but its hopeful!

was watching the weather this morning... all this talk of polar vortexs and such...
good thing we have global warming going on, imagine how cold it would be without the global warming happening.![]()
Yeah I know. It's a new one on me too!
Periodic Fever Syndrome: Symptoms & Treatments | Cleveland Clinic
They do know how to treat it though, which is good!
They are saying they think she has:
Periodic fever, Aphthous-stomatitis, Pharyngitis, Adenitis (PFAPA) Syndrome
Its caused by a genetic defect.
Reading that she is very lucky to have the appropriate diagnosis and treatment so early in life. I am also glad that the first group had the humility and good sense to move her on to a specialty hospital.

Yeah I'm really happy. I don't know if I'll hear from the kids before morning, but to have a potential name and treatment for this so quickly after switching hospitals just makes me happy.
When the first hospital decided to wash their hands and pass her on I have to admit I got scared. . lol.. I'd never seen a hospital say we don't have a clue before.. lol.
I concur with CMD. A hospital should know their limitations and defer to others who might have a better chance to treat those odd illnesses. I suspect they do in many cases but not necessarily all the time. That's why I agree with CMD that in this case it seemed proper to defer.
Amazing! She's cool as a cucumber - no fever at all and she's going home. They see no reason to keep her.
Awesome!
haha. .. this is like a miracle. Seems the new meds are working fine..!
