I'd rather be doing that than standing infront of a hot oven all day. My problem started when my com downloaded and installed an update automatically. I have no idea why it changed the HD name. That should never have happened! However, the update is one for the OS and it's called El Capitan Recovery Update.Computer problems are in the air. After struggling with my primary workstation, I finally have to just do a system wipe and clean install. I'm going straight to Windows 10. Hopefully that's not a mistake.
Re-installing apps will take a good long time because it's all Adobe products with 1 - 3 gig downloads.
I'm such a geek, I'm actually kind of excited to do this.![]()
Pizza rolls tonight, David?

Good Morning Army. Overnight run tonight. I am already going into 'Vacation mode', don't even want to get up in the morning.
And, by the way, I need to fix Mamaw windshield washer. And Judy's side mirror. And buy a Tree. And Christmas shopping. and.....
(it's already started, and I am not even on vacation yet...)
Have a Safe and Blessed Day![]()
Invasive? nawww.. curious maybe
and if its a free download, big brother has his finger in it somewhere![]()
Hey Army!
I sympathize with yuh Lori. Sometimes the best thing to do is a complete hard drive enema and start over.
Weeeeeeeeeelllll that depends..................Yes! Just like that. No one ever wants the enema. But they have to admit they do feel better after.

Much better now, thanks Hula. It hasn't been formatted in quite a while, which could be part of the problem. I ran some maintenance apps on it and the HD checks out fine.Sure hope it gets better Chak. Didn't you just reformat it? Could be HD failure. Sure hope not! Keep us updated if you can!
My bad for having it in auto install mode, but it's still working and since I ran the maintenance apps it's almost as good as new.Dang. I hate when they do stuff like that. I'm not yet on El Capitan, so I haven't encountered anything like that.
My Windows registry was so mucked up I had to do a clean boot just to download the installer for Win 10.
Install went pretty smoothly though. Sure is nice to have a speedy system again that doesn't periodically just freeze up on me. Let's ee if it stays snappy when all my software is on it. I turned off all of the intrusive stuff M$ wanted to do. Sheesh, they are an invasive lot, aren't they?
That was gonna be my next step. Glad I can hold off on it. But may have to if I decide to change the name back. It way too long.
