Nature is harsh! Balance is needed. ;)

Ive come to the conclusion that humans have reached a point in which we will no longer "advance"... we have no predators to take out the weak ( other than ourselves) only microbes and war will do us in but that isnt a part of natural selection... in fact, it seems we are becoming weaker, less resistant to cancers, viral and bacterial infection, the general intelligence level (IQ) seems to be dropping amoungst the "less than 30" age... yes true there are a few out there that are intelligent, but the numbers are low... not nearly as it should be if things were progressing... seems as if the ratio is falling behind its expected rise.

not really... thats just Retic... he has a propensity to dissappear for a bit.... he will eventually pop up.

I left a couple messages for him when he returns. Linux discussions and my progress with the new to me operating system.

Nature or nurture or both, I don't have a clue but have wondered about these same things.

Time to take a ride to Ret's house, BK.

there is a catch 22 behind this idea.... go to his house knock on the door and they ( him or the wife) wont answer door since they wernt expecting company... one needs to call first to let them know you are coming. When you call they dont answer the phone ( ringer is off) and will only answer when expecting a call. So... no suprize visits will be answered.

Curious what kind of a parade happens with a reunion? I’m picturing people walking down the street with banners displaying their class superlatives, and maybe the cheer leaders in their old uniforms re-creating their best dance routine... it’s making me giggle, as I’m sure that’s not what kind of parade it is!

Have fun!
It's a pathetic little parade that should be discontinued.. 50th class, 25th class on trailers riding and tossing candy. Some classic cars. I'm not sure we had any cheerleaders in our class, and sports jerseys get turned back in so...
We would like to bring back our 5k run, but it's too late now to get a chip timing company. Most people (including me) lost interest when it went to a 'fun run'.

I have a puzzle and maybe someone here has ideas. If you have a fireproof/waterproof box for important documents someone can still steal the whole box.

How can it be made theft-proof? A built in safe is not an option. And no permanent damage to the house, like drilling through a wall.

I’m trying to think of a simple tethering method, like with a heavy duty locking cable. But I can’t think of how to anchor it to dissuade removal.

Asking for a friend. <——- Truth. :)

Got any steel poles in your place? Tethering is a good solution. Just gotta find something to tie on the other end. An appliance? A piece of furniture? Your bed frame?

Beyond their food bowl, they aren’t interested in guarding anything. :)

Besides, this actually isn’t for me. I’ve had a box a long time to protect things. It’s dang heavy. Nothing in there is irreplaceable. If someone wants to lug it away they will be disappointed.

If you are pretty much trying to "keep someone honest," do you have access points to any plumbing pipes under a sink/in a basement? If the box has a handle that you could loop a cable through and then wrap it around a pipe and secure with a padlock, it would be a PITA to take away, but not impossible for a determined thief.

I suppose another option would be one of those small locking freezers discussed in some of the stocking threads would work to hide it in plain sight. As long as there wasn't a Dove Bar thief, the safe box would stay hidden.

Creative ideas! Now I’m hungry for a Dove bar.

LA, that is tricky alright. They could weatherproof it and bury it. Other than that I guess you could build a false wall or floor, and put it in there.

I was going to go to sleep, but have been watching that big storm today. Tonight the local weather channel showed nothing to worry about. Well before bed I happened to see a storm pop up that is severe. It is a long thin red line. I saw the radars going, and the dang thing popped out, with no rain before that.

hide it plain sight... get some " fake book covers" and put the safe on the book shelf and put the "book covers" over it...
