Enough. Got all the top with limbs done. The bottom 50’ is next. That will be a challenge b/c the tree is wider than my bar. On the bright side I got my saw running the best it has in many years. New carb and lots of fine tuning and now I have it dialed in. There is no piece of yard equipment that comes close to the maintenance required for a chainsaw. Great piece of equipment but you have to baby them big time. Sawing isnt overly stressing. It’s the hauling and then splitting that’s the killer.

pile it up and SET IT ON FIRE!!!! :)

lol... I had bought a piece of property in LaCombe La... full of pine trees, had one about every 5 feet apart. So I cut down about half of them and made 10 huge piles of trees trash...
I loaded each pile up with gas and all it took was 1 match to lite all 10 on fire.... the gas fumes worked their way under the pine straw and when it went, the pine straw exploded upwards about 4-6 feet into the air and it was a chain reaction of pile after pile exploding and bursting into flames... the initial intent was to do only 1 pile at a time.... I believe that was my first "Murphys Law" situation I had experienced...

as spectacular as it was it was still pretty scarey... thought I was going to set the whole yard on fire, especially when the tops of the "good" trees started flaming...

I don’t think I recall turtles biting. We had snapping turtles in CT and obviously they did, but I always assumed they were sweet docile creatures.

Not much going on here. I took a shower and it wore me out. Happy Wednesday.

Here are some interesting facts about them, along with some videos. MentalFloss.com is a fun site to explore.

LA, that was a great link. The one we found as a kid was huge. My brother and I, plus a teenager carried the turtle and it was heavy. It wasn't from the smaller creek by the house. It came from a large creek further out. We were tired from carrying it, and had to take breaks. We used to catch crawdads in the larger creek too. We also found tons of tadpoles there. Luckily we never ran into many snakes out there. Now that I look back, it was a miracle we didn't run into a lot of water moccasins. It was thickly wooded around that creek at one time. But over 30 years ago it was cleared. The land around that creek is a park now.

Well it is nap time. Gotta get ready for the bad weather. This will occur about the same time the river should be close to cresting. We are under a river flood warning and a flash flood too. It may be a repeat of Saturday. I hope not. It is getting darker, so I am gonna rest. Looks like I'm gonna need it.

Thanks Lori! That was a nice distraction for a bit. 2 friends from work stopped by. They changed the sheets on my bed for me and caught me up on work gossip. Had a light lunch and now thinking about a nap.

Sooooo. Busted the handle on the sledge hammer. Just replaced it a few months ago. 2nd time it has been used. That was my dad's sledge hammer. I think he got it when I was about 10 years old. That handle lasted nearly 50 years. It finally broke. The new handle lasted three months. Piece of :censored:! They don't make hickory like they used to.
