@Pappy you wanna weigh in on the number lock?

I can live with no NUMLOCK, but I shouldn't have to. Good gravy, it's a 5 cent LED for Pete's sake!

But, I turn my number pad on and leave it on, so it's a compromise I can make if necessary. More important, though, is the feel of the keyboard. I'm pretty picky when it comes to the tactile feedback from a keyboard.

Well I was hoping for a rant, but you gave us a “Good Gravy” and for that, I’m grateful:)

My number lock is always on as well.

and its a 6$ mold adjustment for led lens hole and cover and a 4$ circuit board revamp to hold the led... sooo, in effect, the 5 cent led costs 10$ to add it ;)

@Bronze those Dodge Challengers brought back a flood of memories.

Like my first car shortly after getting my DL in '76. My grandpa took me over to a buddy of his who was selling a 1969 Plymouth Fury III. It was in really good condition too. Tried to find one on the web that looked close and found this one...

Mine was gold with a black top. My grandpa kept dickering on the price and we ended at $375. The brakes, I will never forget those brakes, so dang touchy. First time I put my foot on the brake pedal I thought my grandpa an his buddy were going to fly out of the car, yikes. Took me awhile to get used to those. I'll never forget the ride home in that "boat" and I have to admit I was a little scared cause of the size but I got used to it pretty quickly.

No regrets though. You could fit a lot of friends in the Fury for sure. I remember going to the drive-ins and we'd pack people in the trunk in the days before they started checking.

To be honest at 16 I dreamt of driving more like a Camaro, Mustang, Vette or yes even a Challenger but we take what we can afford.

Thx for the memory!

Oh, yeah! The Fury was a boat alright! So was the second car I owned. A 1969 Dodge Coronet. My dying uncle gave it to me just before he died. Mine was the same color as the one in the photo too but I didn't have the black hood or scoops or anything like that. The paint job was horrible. Hate to admit this but it was true...there was an ice storm and I slid on some ice and popped some guy stopped at a red light. I popped him enough to slide him across the intersection. I quickly turned left and hauled out there. Light turned and traffic got snarled up and he wasn't going anywhere. I was long gone. When I got home I painted the car with blue spray paint so they couldn't easily find me. LMAO!!!:lol: Didn't do any good. The cops found me and I got busted for leaving the scene of an accident (that's what it was called in IL when there were no injuries). I knew I didn't hurt the guy. I was young and dumb and most importantly BROKE and no insurance. Ah the good ole days. Live and learn. :)

Don't know if you remember but they put left handed threads on the lug nuts. At least they did on my Dodge and I assume they did on your Ply Mouth. Go to change the tire and couldn't figure why the lug nuts wouldn't come off.

@ShowMeTwice -- that Plymouth looks a lot like the one my grandfather drove. He promised it to me when I got my license. But then it needed a lot of work and he wouldn't give it to me. Sad! But I ended up with my '72 VW Beetle (yellow) and was in love with it! All's well that ends well.

My stepfather (who adopted me) has a red '68 Camaro convertible like this one. For my wedding to my ex, we rode in the Camaro with the top down to the reception. My hair was a mess, but it was worth it to see people stop to look and wave!

I love the Camaro!!! I would have been happy with a '72 Beetle too.

Funny you should just happen to mention a yellow VW Beetle...I have a yellow '67.

there is a story here.....

Some years ago when VW came out with the new ones I told my wife I would like to have one just to tool around in. She said "yeah and I would like Mercedes" haha. So leading up to xmas that year she kept dropping hints and naturally I thought "she's getting me one". Xmas rolls around, she blindfolds me and leads me out to the garage. My excitement growing all the way. She opens the door and tears off the blindfold and sitting on the table was a set of keys and a wrapped present...all the while I'm getting more and more pumped. She grabs the keys and says "open the present first" so I do. Lo and behold it's a yellow VW Beetle.

Hang on, I gotta go get some pics. Ok, I'm back and here's my bug: I had to low-res the pics so they'd load quicker.

I had to use a toothpick...reminds me of another car I had where I always had to use a broomstick for the hood. I think we all had one of those right?
P1010001 CR.jpg

I tried to get a pic of the interior but it came out blurry. Dang I never noticed how dirty it was until I saw the pics (something else to clean).

So after opening that present I turn around and she's dangling the keys with a s-eating grin on her face. The child in me spins around looking up and down the driveway, nothing there. I run out front thinking it's gotta be parked out front. Nope. Wifey comes out front laughing up a storm. Never got a real one but I sure was happy with that one...and it was a great xmas. I did get her back next xmas though!!!

My Dad had two yellow beetles A 71 and a 72. He drove one while fixing the other. When the one he was driving crapped out he swapped for the one he was fixing. Repeat this process over for about 10 years. :)

That is freakin hilarious!!! Good storytelling there too. I was all excited right along with the story thinking you were getting one. Took me a minute to realize it was a miniature!

That’s an amazing replica! Takes me right back to mine! The rear engine pic had me laughing about the time the throttle froze open one frosty morning. I ran inside and grabbed my hairdryer, an extension cord and got it thawed enough to release! I didn’t know back then that that’s a dangerous thing to do. Something about igniting the hairdryer.

Good times! Good times!

I’d personally be delighted to have a model of a ‘72 like that on my desk. There are still a fair number of vintage Beetles on the road out here. No salted roads to eat up the body.

I wish I had the $$ to buy a vintage Beetle to drive around in! I probably don’t really want that. But seeing them makes me think I do!

I love it! That’s a story I haven’t heard you share before. They were so affordable and so easy to work on that you could do such a thing. :)
