Any idea how many channels you'll get on that antenna? Most people I know with an antenna get only a few.

With the old rabbit ears I get 28 listed. But not all of them come in very well if at all. But If I can gat all of the main stations I'll take it..

There was a giant tv antenna in my attic when I moved here. I used it for my tuner. Been thinking about running it to my tv and see what happens. Gotta run a cable.

It should work. Digital signals are more directional but if it's that high up it'll help. And I'm guessing it's already pointed in the right direction..

I suspect you’re right. I’ll have to put the compass on it. Not exactly sure how adjustable it is. I mean, how easy (or difficult) it is to re-aim.

 Why does this so not surprise me? :p

She really was a (gorgeous but) cantankerous old broad, wasn't she?:wub:
I used a cat comb on the hairy cat. One of those with the steel pins that spin. She had long hair on her. I never forced it on her. She’d have a limit and I would never push it. She’d take a break for a few minutes and she’d come back for more. Rinse and repeat several times. Was always able to pull a haystack out of her. It was either this way or deal with wadded up fur that was far harder to deal with. This was one task where patience paid off mightily.

You also ended up with far fewer fur balls yakked up onto bedspreads etc. All that excess fur is far better off going into a comb or a brush than into kitty's digestive tract, where it can cause havoc and distress.

Good Morning Everyone. Watered the garden, did some DIY "Youtube" research, now ready to give the new Waterproof Vinyl Flooring a try in the master bathroom. Actually, nothing man made in truly waterproof, but some floor preparation today, maybe painting tomorrow, and start on the new flooring tomorrow evening.
California is no longer part of the United States (for all practical purposes) so it would make sense that vapers are being attacked there. The next step is to report one's parents for "noncomplience". Or however you say that is Spanish.

Did you get the throne back without incident?

Found what I thought was the connector for the antenna I have in my attic. Does nothing. Been up in the attic messing with the cable and cannot figure out what its deal is. Not even 100% certain that's even the connection for the antenna. And if not, where it might be. No one labels anything. Just gotta guess.

Has there ever been commercial cable installed in the house? I've heard stories that some cable companies will disable previously installed cables so that you can only use the ones they installed themselves.

Depending on the age of the antenna, the original cable plastic may be more "crispy" than any newer cable installation. If you can identify a length of cable that drops down into your TV room, I would try to link that cable directly to the antenna just to test it out. If the antenna seems to work, it might be a better winter project to head back up to the rafters and spend the time to do the cable fishing project when it isn't summertime toasty up there.

I've heard that I have an old attic antenna in my rafters, but decided to just go the rabbit ears route when I cut the cable. My cable jacks aren't really convenient to where I have the TV's, and I like the option of moving the TV where I want it and not where the outlet is. I'm using a Firestick for the streaming service.

Not yet. Probably a couple of days away, as I am painting (to match new floor) and then the floor. The throne will be one of the last things to do.
Thankfully we have two full bathrooms, or I would not be sleeping at night.

How hot is it in that attic? Sending an ice storm your way.

Hard to say who put that antenna in and how they did it. House is 24 years old so not too old. Cable appears to be in good shape. I’m not even sure what I’m plugging into is actually the antenna. I tried pulling the cable out but it’s firmly secured. I can see only about 3” at the end. I see no writing but then they leave a couple feet between identification print. I can see it no problem on the antenna end cuz it’s wide open. So I’m gonna do a continuity test tomorrow with the multimeter. Gonna borrow my neighbor’s Fluke cuz my cheap cheesy meter is acting squirrely. That should tell me if that wall connection is actually for the antenna. Gonna stuff a little ball of tin foil in one of the connectors for a short. If all else fails I can cut the cable in the attic, put an F connector on it and bring my tv up in the attic and hook it up.
