Leaf season is OVUH!!!!
So much sad news and struggle, Brett. I’m so very sorry for your loss. And the hits just keep coming...
My brother, who has lived in Oregon the last forty years, passed a way last night. He had a debilitating stroke in June, spent six months in a hospital bed, and wanted to go home to die. So, as the only surviving family member (no kids), I granted his wishes. Hospice was called in Monday, and he passed away 8:35 PST.
This year cannot be over soon enough...
When it rains it pours. Numbness has to take hold at some point. And the hits just keep coming...

Nope.. Nobody has called me about anything. And I haven't called them yet. Don't think anything will happen till after the holidays. I just know I can't go back to what I was doing because of restrictions.Any idea if/when you go back to work?
Bridgett would know the answer on that question6 months ago the dentist saw a filling that was cracked. Apparently it only warranted putting a marker on it to monitor. Yesterday, one of his partners looked at it and said he sees some decay and wants to replace the filling with a “50/50” chance I will need a crown if the decay is excessive. I’ll find out in the morning when he starts drilling.
Anyhow, I got to thinking. That tooth went from a marker to a crown in 6 months? A tooth decays that fast? And if it can, why didn’t they replace that filling 6 months ago?
A filling costs $411. A crown costs $2,042. Things that make you go hmmmm.
It’s a classic case where the pricing model incentivizes foolish (and even harmful) practices. Of course, not every doc gives in… but the temptation must be pretty strong.6 months ago the dentist saw a filling that was cracked. Apparently it only warranted putting a marker on it to monitor. That is completely awful! I’m so sorry that happened to you. The dentist here gave me the same line about deep cleaning due to gum disease. I refused because I simply can’t afford it. Just as I can’t afford the 40k of work he told me I need. Now I’ll really refuse thanks to hearing this from you.I think dentists are the worst. I cannot get any office in this area who will do a regular cleaning because I have gum disease. their 'explanations' are all over the map. The most recent one said I would only need to do the deep cleaning once every 3-4 years. Huh? where is the logic in that? I could see it if I had not had regular cleanings all this time.
At any rate, they insisted and I went along with it until the high pitch frequency caused me not to be able to hear out of one ear the next morning. I still have trouble, feels like when you go under water and get ears clogged. It was actually painful during the cleaning and when I told the hygienist she just kept on doing it.
I have decided to just do the best I can cleaning my own teeth and if/when they have to be removed, I'll get dentures. Rather have hearing than teeth if it comes down to that.
Funny thing is I had a hygienist friend so I know it is bunk to get more money. It might be easier for them to do the deep cleaning but it isn't necessary to do a good job. That is completely awful! I recently heard that people in Los Angeles go across the border to Mexico for their dental work because it’s so much cheaper. So tempting!
You’ve seen behind the curtain and now you’re harder to fool!Funny thing is I had a hygienist friend so I know it is bunk to get more money. It might be easier for them to do the deep cleaning but it isn't necessary to do a good job.
Reminds me of when I owned salons. Person could pay different prices for perms, colors, cuts etc but for the most part you get the same thing. After all, you can't add much to ammonium glycolic acid that benefits hair. All those conditioners and stuff to jump prices up are wasted in that solution, other than slowing process to make it more controllable. One shop I worked in would give a rough haircut for the cheap price, not check for uneven spots, stuff like that. So they spent less time if you opted for a cheaper haircut, lol.
