I am sorry to hear about your family. As for the rugs, they can be cleaned but should be done pretty quick after the water is gone. You will need to empty those boxes that got wet & get rid of them. It will be a lot of work but you can do it! Stay calm & breathe. I remember waking up one morning back at my mom's old house and I was up to my ankles in water in the family room. Water had come in under the backdoor during the night. Basement was flooded etc. It was during a Nor'easter.

Thanks, Raven...as pitiful and pathetic as this is gonna sound...you guys are about the only 'friends' I have any more...but basically, the friends I thought I had were just the 'fair weather' type; Vegas bowl inhabitants: fruits, flakes and nuts. So when the house floods and I'm sitting up on the bed bawlin', this was the only place to go. Some bad girl, huh?!?

You are right... As Scarlett would say 'I'll worry about that tomorrow. Fiddle Dee Dee.' Service Master just got here and all the fun begins.. Thanks, sweetie. Can't get an insurance adjuster out here until after the holidays. And because it's a holiday, hotel rooms are jacked sky high... Thank God for Xanax...the pill, I mean. Lol!

cate....all kidding aside.....one of the reasons I have this job is because Bill knows that I take it seriously. Many people feel that what happens on the Internet is not "real". I am not one of those people. My very best friend I met on eBay. She has been my friend for over 10yrs. When her father died she called me. We have never met in "real" life. But I would feel a great cavern in my heart if she were gone.

Do not feel pathetic about being here or calling us your friends. I'm proud to know you and only wish I were closer so I could help you with those boxes!

ps....just my opinion...others may vary...but real bad girls are not heartless loners....they lean on each other for strength.

I LOVE it!! You are divine! Can't wait to switch over...
Y'all mean so much to my heart. Really.
So here's the update...it is holiday weekend so SM removed as much water as they could but can't move anything out because the Pods (2!!) won't be here until Tuesday. Same w/insurance adjuster. Living room furniture ruined, as is china cabinet, oriental rugs, book cases and everything out in the game room. It still has alot of water cuz SM didn't even have room to move out there. Mold/mildew has already started and the smell...! We can't leave because of our animals so we sent Kayde across the street to the neighbors and Art and I are camped out on our bed - the only dry place in the house. As soon as Kayde left he started looking at me funny - you know what I mean - and I almost slapped him! Sheesh! Since I can't do anything else (and not in the mood for that at the moment!) I am blinging out my Janty Stick case, making new cart labels, attempting my first box mod and mixing up new juices. Aren't you proud of me? And all with only one Xanax!!! Will try and post pics as I get stuff done.
If it weren't for the rough times we,d never enjoy the good ones, right? And I've always been - as y'all are - a glass half-full kind of girl...;)

Cate, I wish I lived closer to help you out and offer you a place to stay. I am glad to see that your spirits are lifted a bit and doing what you can to keep your mind off what has happened.

Would love to see pics of the case that you are "blinging out" when you are done!

And remember... we are here if you need us!

Love the new avatar.... Good choice Lorikay!!!

Glad you like it! I colored the eyes one pixel at a time. :)

cate....I have actually been through exactly what your going through....only with me it was really a flash flood. Here is my tip for you....right now...today....go buy several gallons of plain bleach....mix it 50/50 with water and spray it all along the base boards and as high up the walls as the water went. If you dont do it now you will never get rid of the mold.

I am sorry about your things.....but I have to admit.....when I went through that flood...it was almost a relief to have an excuse to start pitching stuff!! Of course for my little ordeal my husband was half way across the country at a family reunion.....just me and the dog....sleeping in the car out in the driveway. I promise you...if he had have come home and wanted anything other than to order a pizza I probably would have cut his throat in his sleep. I hear you girlfriend!!!!

Hang in there dear.....you never know whats around the corner. That year of the flood...probably the lowest point in my entire life......and now....the highest. In my wildest imagination I never would have dreamed anything like being here, talking to ya'll every day and working with the SS team. Never.... So you just really never know!!! If it wasnt for that flood...I would probably still be sitting in the god-forsaken desert of New Mexico....watching the tarantulas crawl in and our of the house. :)

this server is going to drive me to ruin!!! cant even get in a complete post!.....anyway.....in all sincerety....Bill.....thank you for giving us the space to do this. As you can see.....it means alot. Thank you.

Darn this server! I've written this three times already...grrrrrrr.....but at least we have it. thanks, Bill. Just sent Daddy off to gamble and leave me in peace. How can they think like that at times like these?!?
I'm blinging and singing 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' and imagining Lorikay sitting in the car surrounded by tarantulas. Mine might as well be OOT; he is working 12's all next week. I keep hearing him on the phone saying "My wife will be here. She'll handle it." Bless his pointed little head...
You guys go have fun. Do something wild and crazy for me! I'm okay.:p

bless their little hearts...I swear...sometimes I think they think they are doing us a favor.

or not......

maybe it's just their way of relieving stress? who knows! When I want to relieve stress I like to lift weights and fantasize about killing something....but then I dont think I am your typical woman.

speaking of stress....anyone seen the poolboy around lately????? The blender is empty.....lemons and limes need to squeezed....and ice needs to be shaved for margaritas. Dave......hello......someone go rattle the cabana please.....

okay...just to keep things slightly relevant......here is lorikay13's carto tip for the day:

Carto not performing up to par.....but you swear it's almost brand new......CHARGE YOUR BATTERY! That goes for any ecig...not just ours. Edit: Let me clarify that.....you do NOT have to wait until it's dead...in fact...it's better if you don't. You cant over charge these batteries....so when performance drops....before you flood the carto with juice...charge your battery or get a fresh battery.

Cate, I'm so sorry. Here's my:2c:

If you have valuable rugs, you really need to call one of those companies that specialize in flood damage cleanup. They are trained and equipped to deal with such situations. I don't know anyone in your area, but I'm sure you can just google it.

What a way to start a holiday weekend.
