I discovered right off the back that Protanks like lower power, regardless of what the resistance is. I also learned not to let them get below 1/2 full (I can't remember who told me that). They can have quirky leaking issues, similar to a CE4 actually, but I spent some quality time with Miss Pro and I've learned how to respond to her moods.

I can vape the Protank down to the last drop, no leaking issues. I think you like a tighter draw though, and use it on the Bobo because it gives you that? This might be a contributing factor - you draw harder, which causes the air in the tank to expand, which allows liquid into the center post. The less liquid in the tank, the more air expansion you get.

Lessons taught to me by the Vapeonly - I had to drill the air holes out and the leaking and flooding stopped.

Actually, I've been vaping it on the Vamo for a couple of days. I can't recall why keeping it more than half full was suggested, I'll have to track down where that info came from, but I don't have any problems with the Protanks now on any of my devices. An occasional drop of liquid on the connector pin I've come to consider part of vaping - I'm pretty obsessive about wiping off the pin frequently, leaking or not, so it's not an issue.

I switch devices constantly, I like the Protank and it has worked well for me. But if I am using the AGA, AGI, or Vivi Nova, and pick up the Protank I have to remember use a lighter draw or I will flood it. I cleaned my Protank recently and it is now sitting empty along with the Iclear 30, waiting patiently for me to put it back in rotation.

I do that pin thing too Ocelot, something that was necessary with my failed attempt to use CE4s. My new Zmax mini has a copper or brass colored center pin, making me think that it always has juice on it.

Most juices I vape at 6-6.5 watts on my protank. I do have a couple of flavors (all DIY) that like 7 Watts. Any higher and the juice seems to burn. one big BUT though...I wrap my own coils so I am probably running at a different "ohmage" than the stock heads at 2.8-3.2 for my coils.

I have never had a leak from my protank even down to the last 1/10th of a tank. That might be my thicker juice though (50/50).

My Vivi nova however continues to be a pain in my backside for those odd drops of juice on my battery post. :p

Hi Myrany, this seems to be par for the course for the Vivis. Not as bad as the CE5s though - I had to clean up after them several times a day. Funny what we put up with before finding something better. My Vivis are now in the vape box, for emergencies only - I managed to get them running pretty good but I'm just enjoying bottom coil devices too well.

Strange feeling - a box full of surplus delivery devices and many, many feet of wick and wire. No matter what happens I'll never be short of a vape.

Unfortunately the Evods and batteries I ordered from FastTech haven't arrived. Looks like the shipment went missing somewhere between Singapore and Oz. I won't be able to order again until after the move.

BTW everyone, I think I can recommend this one if you are looking for a fast charger:
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1203300

I'm actually a little impressed. 1 amp fast charge (that's 1 hour per 1000 mAh into the battery) and it has a digital display. It tells you the voltage right now, how long it's been on charge, and the percent of total charge. After it's finished charging it turns the charge current off and displays how many mAh it has put into the battery. I recommend a normal slow charge as being better for the batteries, but this is now my favourite charger.

ETA: Yes, I'm a gadget freak, I admit it.

Cartos really shouldn't flood. Possible causes: holes punched to large, really tight draw, or *really* thin liquid. (or a combination of these factors)

right? i first noticed it with two tanks i have...one would be fine...and then not at all...then i'd get frustrated and leave it alone for a while...and it would be fine for about 3 minutes.....
the other was one i had been using a LOT....it would be mostly fine (as long as i didn't leave the house or go up or down stairs)....i'd vape before work, on the drive to work and by the time i parked it was flooded. the holes are definitely not too big, it is only these two tanks, i am not overfilling or overpriming, and the same cartos work fine on my cheapo FT dct tanks LOL
I wish you lived closer grasshopper, so I could help you become one with your fussy gear.
yeah...apparently my gear fu stinks....i have this protank coil which is reading at 2.6ohm on the prov at 4.1v and am getting burnt hits (this particular juice is pretty thin)
maybe i am just supposed to use ce3's for the rest of my vaping life...
i am getting closer and closer to the world i don't want to be in....rebuildables...or just not being a vaper....or a smoker LOL (i think i am far too young of a vaper to pull that off....)

Wow, your luck does seem to a little on the bad side, I guess if I were you I would use the FT tanks and the CE3 for now. I am sure that with help of some of the thread mates here you will eventually get the other devices sorted out. Use what works for now and save yourself some frustration. Rebuildables can be very finicky, wishing you the best with your gear, and hang in there.

i am sure i sound like a whiny dumb-dumb but i swear these things are happening LOL
i think my motto must be "learning through adversity" or something...if things "just worked" i wouldn't learn diddly right?
so, i guess that is my bright side? :)

I believe you that these things are happening, and I also believe that you will get it sorted out. I just recommended that you use what has been working to save you some frustration while you work out the problems with the others. Good luck hottie, and I don't think you are a whiny dumb-dumb.

I've honestly got no answers for you yet Hottie. Are these tanks bigger than the FT tanks? Do you usually fill them right up, or do you only half fill them? Do you run them quite hot (very warm to the touch)?

yeah...apparently my gear fu stinks....i have this protank coil which is reading at 2.6ohm on the prov at 4.1v and am getting burnt hits (this particular juice is pretty thin)

Now I'm just downright confused. Thin juice should be fine, certainly not giving dry hits. Most coils taste a little dry until they run in. It can take a tank or two sometimes, then the flavour comes back. So far all the Protank coils I've tried have been clear winners.

I'm sending you good gear fu waves.

maybe i am just supposed to use ce3's for the rest of my vaping life...

Well, if the CE3s are working...

By rebuildables I guess you mean things like the Cobras and Aga-Ts etc. I honestly think I am preferring the Vapeonly and the Protank, both for flavour and vapour. They are also a lot of fiddling - burning mesh, rolling it, making coils, fixing shorts etc. I've got a ceramic wick I will get around to trying which might change my mind but at the moment I'm thinking they are too big, too fiddly, and too difficult to fill on the run.

That's about where I am, and have been since I got the first Protank in March. 2.6-2.7Ω, burns over 4v (6w on the Vamo) 70pg/30vg juice. It is what it is. If you read my very first reviews I was stunned that it was so low, but it's actually in line with the guidelines that were in the little Kanger "manual" that came in the box. I play with the power often (I like to push buttons), but it stays around the same no matter what flavor I'm vaping - mine are all similar though.

tank 1: vaperfexion and is smaller than tank #2 and the FT tanks
tank 2: smok udct

usually only 1/2-2/3 fill at most. didn't run them hot. the smok udct is fine if i don't leave the house or go up/downstairs LOL
the vaperfexion is good for about 3 minutes...as long as i don't leave the house or go up/downstairs..then it is good for 30 seconds or less.
suspected it was an air leak of some sort or damaged o-rings or something...i tried the vaperfexion after replacing one of the o-rings last week and it was a nightmare...so now they are out of sight/rotation again.

Hottie, I am very sorry to hear that you have been having so much trouble with you vape lately. I am also sending many, many good gear/vape fu waves your way.

The protank leaking in the center could be that the liquid is too thin for the number of "flavor wicks" that are in the head. I find that the thinner the juice the more wicks I need in there to "slow the flow" of juice to the coil. I have some 70/30 juice that is thinner than others (I'm thinking poor quality control or something here...but that's another story) that I actually have to add a third flavor wick to the protank to keep it from getting gurgly. Most of my juice though works well with the coil and 2 flavor wicks as far as not leaking/gurgling while avoiding dry hits. I only have one juice that I have to remove a flavor wick to get it to feed correctly, and it is my 100% VG Sludge from HHV.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend. Don't forget Mod Envy (although if you're like me it is typically only playing in the background so my name is "in the hat") starts at 10pm EST. Also, if anyone is interested, Pluid will be back in stock the week of July 15th as well as a full batch of all the other Mad Murdock juices. I have this from an inside source.... ;)

I haven't yet tried pluid, but I am really looking forward to getting my hands on some.

BB, how did your tests go today? (Sorry if I missed the update on the thread today, it was a bit of a "day" around here). Eli had his first therapy yesterday at Wings on a Prayer. They are a horse stable that provides horseback riding as a means of therapy for "differently abled" kids like him. He LOVED it. I was worried he would be timid and a bit scared of the horse up close, but sure enough he ran right up and was super excited to get on and ride. :D

I only use a Vivi Nova so can't tell ya much about Protanks and whatnot.

You can only burn juice if
A) Voltage too high for the ohms
B) poor wicking allows it to get dry and the coil can't cool.
Assuming the coil doesn't have defects. (the so-called "hot spot")

This is true for atomizers, cartos, tanks...everything.

If you watch PB's video for Protanks, he shows you how to remove the center post. Now he does this to remove one of the flavor wicks, however, in your case it sounds like you need to ADD one or two. If you have any wick material, this would be something to consider if you use a thinner (high PG or otherwise) juice. I have heard cotton suffices for this, but I have not used it before myself.

If you are verified, you can check out "the TomCatt's" method here. It looks pretty good. NOTE: The EVOD and Protank coils are virtually identical. In fact, I use EVOD coils in my Protank.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-t3-mt3-t5-m3-evod-co-op-422.html#post9846441

Now you can skip the part about threading the coil, cause you don't need that, just add the rolled wicks on top. Try them one at a time. Good luck!

If not...well just contact http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/56883/tomcatt.html. I think he is a GoodFella, and would hook you up with the spiel.

Good morning, Lounge nobility:)! It's Gala Day:party:!

GALA_Logo+jpeg.jpg

Have a GREAT one, toker:toast:!

Huzzah for Eli, Chimps! Loved starting out the day imagining his mirth! The test was fine, thanks for asking; but it was a rough day. Maybe more on that later.

Great vapemoment on the road, hottie. Sorry about your frustrations with some of your gear, but just TOOT away on those CE3s that ARE working as they should while you sort out the rest, and vent whenever you feel like it. Every once in a while, imagine the little rectangles of blue aquarium foam with which you don't ever have to deal:p.

Thanks for the reminder, Eric -

It is KNOWN that you should pop in more. Lynn:).

...I should be careful, I have rubbed some very intelligent members...

I don't think you can talk about this on ECF, Lion:?:...

At least it's not hailing frogs near Wonderland, Princess P; that's just messy.
