I'm planning on using .999 fine silver wire. It has less electrical resistance than nickel and greater chemical resistance. This can be found in the US on ebay. 30 ga .999 fine siver .5 oz (100') for $35.50. I have used fine silver wire for Genisis builds and it holds up quite well as the leads for the resistance wire.

It's available in many other guages so I might try something a little thicker than that, like 24 or 26 ga. Any thoughts?

Just made my first 1.5ohm coil in less than 10 mins! BTW I'm still looking for a stateside seller of the no resistance wire if anyone knows of one :)

+1

It would be great to find US sourcing for all the required consumables such as the wick, resistance wire and no-resistance wire. If anyone finds anything, please do share!

Nothing here neither, oh and he doesn't manage his shipping, no shipping info at all, always just processing, not impressed at all

Hi Womblebat, I have a problem with my Zencart SW in that it only mentions as "processing" or "delivered" which confuses customers. I am getting my new programming man to see if we can code the system to have a "shipping" status to let people know that items have shipped.

All Iatties have shipped so it should arrive today or tomorrow at latest.

Wire, .236mm = 34SWG so you are already have a larger wire at 30g then what comes with the kit which is fine but why would you want to go 24g-26g? the heating wire 36g kanthal will last 6-12 months and I'm sure that 30g silver will last longer than the Kanthal due to the fact that it's a conductor and not a resistor. Save the money and stick with 30g silver.

I believe that the wick Imeo is sending with the iatty is sourced in the US, it is listed in the original post, kanthal and nichrome can both be found on ebay from us sellers but I dont know about the no res wire except the silver that another poster mentioned from ebay.

Actually i have found the iAtty is easier to rig up than the A2, the wick is thicker so it's easier to handle and wrap, no tiny screws to wrap around or get the coil alignment right with the airhole, and no tools needed, really surprised me.

Have you found yours has a steeper learning curve than the A2 Planet?

+1 to this :) I also find the iatty easier than the bulli, iatty looks complicated on the videos but in reality it couldn't be easier :) , the big plus is the performance is way better with the iatty , don't think you can even really compare the two , yes they are both repairable but apart from that they are worlds apart IMHO :)

Does it compare to any standard attys in any way?

I have now had my Iattys for a day and half, and so far: WOW, this is great!
The first one took about an hour to assemble, including making the coil. I think about 45 minutes of that time was spent getting the small o-ring on the ceramic cup :)
Winding the coil, i was aiming for 2 ohms, but got closer to 2.5. I thought about redoing it, but decided "Eff it...i'm gonna try it" It actually worked quite well, giving nice warm vapor and a lot of taste, but only when taking multiple hits in sequence. On my varivolt box i got the best results at 4.0-4.2 volts, which to me confirms that i should be shooting for 2.0 ohms. At this level i still get great taste and vapor, without having to breathe through my PV.
The next one ohm'ed out at 1.9 and went straight to my SSGGTS. I mount it with two adapters (510/901 and 901/510), simply because i don't like the look of the GGTS without the top cap; the brass end cap looks out of place when it's the only piece of brass on there (hint hint, Imeo: SS endcaps!).
I have now gone through about 6ml of liquid between the two which is a lot for me but hey, this is research and development, right?
The vape is consistent from start to finish, and the one tank i have finished so far was bone-dry (well, almost) when vapor dropped off. There are no leaks so far. I did get a slight gurgle on both of them this morning after they had been sitting half full all night, but a couple of draws took care of that. The draw if quite light, but suits me fine. On the GGTS, i close the control ring ever so slighty, tightening the draw just a bit.
I'm sure these will be my only atties for a long time. Problem is, i've got four PV's and only two Iatties.

In short, UKtarget is right: Just get one! :)
