The NEXEL Alumina-Bora-Silica fibers are by far superior to the fiberglass wick, but you need to remember that those are braided ceramic sleeving and teh size measurements are I.D, not O.D. The fiberglass wick we are using will actually fit INSIDE of the XC4-116 sleeve. With a wall thickness of .074" it will be about 1/8" OD and will be far too big to use without somehow eliminating the internal hole.

I'm pretty sure JonahNM is using the 1/16 in his Iatty.

ID: 1,6 mm
Wall thickness: 0.69 mm
Overall Thickness: 2.9591 mm

Yes, this is correct, that makes it nearly double the OD of the rope we are currently using.

I came across a ceramic twisted rope that is incombustible and has a service temp of 2300 deg. F and max temp of 3000 deg F. This may work very nicely if it is available in 1/16"

This is made in USA so I sent an inquiry to them for a datasheet/msds, to see if 1/16" OD is possible and to request pricing. I'll put the info I get here when I hear back.

It seems, though, that 440 can survive thermal and chemical abuse a bit better.. I want to know what Rick and Zoranth think about the 440 specifications. Maybe LordEros33 should read it too.. but after he bought 100 yards of 316, i doubt he'll want to read about 440 ;P

440 seems to be a slightly more durable version with a higher constant temp rating. They don't specify why though. They use 2 different types of sizing, which may account for the differences. As near as I can tell that is the only difference that they list. (Obviously the makeup is a trade secret) Dream, if yours is white, then there is no sizing, if it is a coral color than it has sizing on it. Yours will be easy to tell if they coated the fibers. That's the major advantage that I see. The durability of the product may help with our application, it lists very little in regards to the abrasive resistance of this stuff. Whether or not it is worth the 2x price, we shall find out! Unfortunately we have to wait and see... I don't want to wait anymore, bring on the testing! :D

I've got several items coming and if one doesn't work; I'm made a lot worse choices in my life.

Speaking of testing....just made a 2.9ohm and am dialing in the volts. Starting @4.3v and working my way up.

Incredible; simply incredible vaping machine. Fortunately I traded for some 10mg Ecopure Rich so I won't pass out.

If you compare the E2 wick and the one I send with Iatty, they both say that they are at 1,5mm but the one that I send is double the width of the E2 wick Lord. The way they messure is totally different. So if this rope has a hole then if we squezze it it will be about the same size as the one we curently use on Iatty as I see it

That is why I said it may fit if it can withstand being manipulated like that. I have used it in other things and it is a very good wick that can be cleaned with fire :).

Does anyone know if there is a 801 ceramic with a stem coming out of the bottom available? I took an 801 ceramic out ofa 801 atty but there's no stem he bottom is flat.
The 801 ceramic is bigger around which would allow for a longer coil. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with 801 cartomizers.
Thanks for any responses.

If you are going bigger for more resistance....then just use bigger wire. Takes less wraps that way.

True but more coils have more surface area for atomizing e liquid. When ce2 came out they would work really well for a day or so then drop off vapor. I notice the same thing with the iAtty.
Changing the iAtty wick is easy enough, but I would like to get a couple days out of each, for my time invested.
Take a ceramic out of a 510 atty and its a bit bigger than the ce2 ceramic, the 801 is the biggest ceramic Ive come across so far, I was hoping to try one with the iAtty. Unfortunately I dont think they exist with the stem on the bottom.

Thanks for the response, Ive learned so much already from the iAtty, just cant wait to find perfection.
